So you know when you're writing a scene where the hero is carrying an injured person and you realize you've never been in this situation and have no idea how accurate the method of transportation actually is?
Oh boy, do I have a valuable resource for you!
Here is a PDF of the best ways to carry people depending on the situation and how conscious the injured person needs to be for the carrying position.
Literally a life saver.
(No pun intended.)

Okay, so this is really random: but I see a lot of like 'inexperienced' Whumpees who are the weakest/youngest out of the group
But like what if the youngest is the one everyone fears, I mean they're in the group for a reason
Picture this very specific scenario: The team is captured by Whumper and they are all taken to the same room, chained up to keep them from running or trying anything: and here comes Whumpee (a teenager that's like half the size of everyone in the room) with these insanely complicated locks, maybe they're wearing a straight jacket, with multiple guards while the rest of the team got one or two
Because if you think about it, younger people would have to work harder to prove their strength and 'worth' to the team. There has to be a reason for them to stay on the team
However my personal favorite of this trope is that the youngest is just so unpredictable; not only are they talented/wise beyond their years but you truly never know what they'll do next with all the talent they harbor
Maybe Whumper hates them because at least he can fall into this rythme with the rest of the team and learn their habits: but he physically can't do that for youngest because there is no routine or habit to fall back onto
Maybe they mastered a rare magic form at a young age, or were trained as a soldier
Then think of the CARETAKING OPPROTUNITIES?? A parental Caretaker that shows Whumpee what it's like to be a kid, who worry about they're little reckless living death wish 24/7, and give them a mom/dad that they deserve
I just love young, anti-hero, vigilante Whumpees who have seen so much and learned so many things at such a young age, to the point where they are constantly on the verge of villain because of their genuine desensitization to it all
Which causes everyone to be at least a little afraid of youngest, in some sense of the word

what if gruff mentor learned about a very old, very serious injury that almost killed her sunshiney protige and left permanent damage that still really hurts sometimes, but she's never complained about it. never mentioned it. and mentor realizes "wow okay maybe she's not naive, maybe she's actually just very brave"

Love when whumpee gets severely injured, beaten within an inch of their life, trying to protect a loved one. Then when they wake up in medical care, they immediately bolt up and demand to see who they protected, as whumpee didn't know if they were safe before whumpee was knocked unconscious. Whumpee needs to be held down before they injure themselves further, but they keep struggling, repeating "I need to see them, I need to see them" over and over. Whumpee is only calmed down when someone fetches their loved one, and whumpee can finally hug them, knowing they're both safe now.

A whumpee who won’t stop fighting until they physically can’t anymore. A whumpee who will kick, bite, claw, pinch- anything they can manage in their current state or position. A whumpee who finally loses their will to fight when the hopelessness sets in, and they give up- only to immediately be filled with revulsion and self loathing. A whumpee who doesn’t listen when they’re told that they did everything they could. When they’re told anyone would have done what they did. When they’re told it’s okay.
Because it’s not. They said they would never give up. But they did. And now they’re sure they deserve what ever comes after.
Because you can’t lose as long as you keep fighting.
…And whumpee lost.

Since the whole thing with NaNoWriMo has gone down, I've noticed that one of their former sponsors, Ellipsus, has cut contact with NaNoWriMo because they do not support their stance on AI; I didn't know what Ellipsus was, but upon further research I've found that they are a writing platform that works a lot like Google Docs and Microsoft Word, only with a heavier leaning on the story-writing aspect and connecting with other writers - and they also completely denounce any use of AI, both in the writing process itself and in the use of their platform. I really appreciate that.
Since this is the case (and since I've noticed Google has begun implementing more AI into their software), I've decided to give Ellipsus a try to see if it's a good alternative to Google Docs (my main writing platform). It's completely free and so far, I've found it simple to use (although it is pretty minimal in its features), and I really like the look of it.
I figured I'd spread the word about this platform in case any of you writers would want to give it a try, and if you do, let me know how you like it!

A sunshine happy 'nothing bother me because I always see the positives' character, A, who is part of a group. They get along with everyone, of course, they're so likable and happy!
But what the group doesn't know/realize, is that their smile and jokes are a defense mechanism, a way to deflect and distract, to not let anyone in. They can talk for hours and say nothing, and if the group stopped to think, they'd realize they know very little about them. But they never do.
Then a new person joins the group, B, who is the total opposite of A. They're closed off, stoic, 'nothing bothers me because I don't care' type, who doesn't speak much. They don't really get a close connection to the group.
Except, to everyone's surprise, A and B get really close really fast. Nobody really gets it.
But A and B do. Because A saw right through them. Their stoicism is just a mask. They don't care, because they won't let themselves. It's easier not to, because if they do, the trauma they keep bottled up will come out. A sees it, because A understands. They're the same.
And B sees A. And unlike the group, they understand them. Even though they know that A has demons of their own, they don't push or make them talk, but they also don't treat them differently. They just... get it.
To the world they might seem so different, two types that would never match. But they know they're the same, even if they deal with it differently.
They get it.

the brief and instinctive touch when a whumpee wakes up following being unresponsive or revives after resuscitation - the moment when the person there who cares about them is just so relieved that they’re alive, that they’re responding, that they just can’t help clasp them in a tight hug, or cup their cheek, or kiss their head. that nonverbal you’re still here, i got you, thank fuck you’re alive.

Misplaced guilt.
They should have done something (in a situation where they couldn't).
They should have known (there was no reality where they could have known).
They should've been better (they were so young).
They have to apologize in every possible moment (they shouldn't apologize for anything).
They deserve to be punished for their mistakes (they had no choice in making them).
Just. Guilt complexes. Yes please.

Hands in Whump
-Running a gentle hand through Whumpee's hair, whispering reassurances into their ear.
-Grabbing Whumpee's arm to stop them from escaping, digging their nails into the flesh.
-A red, stinging handprint left on the side of Whumpee's face after a slap.
-Caretaker using their thumb to wipe tears off of Whumpee's face.
-Fingers intertwined, comforting pressure on the hand.
-Placing the back of the hand on Whumpee's forehead to check their fever.
-A hand broken after being stomped on by Whumper, Whumpee trying to get their fingers to move.
-Palms and fingers burned on a hot pan or stove.
-Fingernails being broken or ripped out.
-Cupping Whumpee's face.
-A hand clasped over the mouth to keep Whumpee from screaming
-Gentle hands applying bandages to aching wounds.
-An outstretched hand, offering aid and protection.
-Hands in the air to signal surrender.
-Whumpee covering their face with their hands so nobody can see them cry.
-Hands clasped over the back of Whumpee's neck as protection from an imminent beating.
And so, so much more!

Whumpee being manhandled into restraints:
Shoved up against a wall and handcuffed.
Pinned to the floor and handcuffed.
Fighting for each limb as they’re forced down on a table, slowly secured by leather restraints.
Overwhelmed by multiple Whumpers, each one working to subdue them.
Yanked back by their hair so a collar or rope can easily be fitted around their throat.
Pinned while in combat (double points for being caged against a wall or trapped in a chokehold)
Improvised restraints like belts, sheets, or clothing when Whumpee won’t be still enough to retrieve proper ones.
Manhandled in a hospital bed, held down for the duration of a procedure.
Injected with a chemical restraint, a sedative or numbing agent that quickly bleeds the fight out of them.
Struggling as a muzzle is wrestled over their head and secured.
A blow to the head that knocks Whumpee out or makes them too dizzy to fight anyone off.

I think we as a community underestimate how truly terrifying it is to be stuck/restrained, and the panic response that comes with it. I got my hand lodged in a tight place, and while it was very simple to get it unstuck, it wasn't as easy as a simple slip. It was scary just to have my hand stuck of my own actions, while knowing how to get it unstuck.
So imagine the terror that ensues when it's your entire body, restrained by someone who wants to do you harm. Plus, the panic that comes as as result causes you to pull or fight against whatever it is that has you, which is painful. Trying to tug and force your way out of a situation will only cause you to hurt and become even more panicked when it doesn't work. Just. We need to describe that terror more I think.

Imagine a Whumpee who has to be sedated.
Maybe they're in too much pain, or they need to undergo a medical procedure or maybe they're violent after being rescued, holding onto the "fight to survive" state of mind.
Imagine Whumpee thrashing around, pushing doctors away, putting up a fight while screaming and crying, begging to be left alone.
Imagine Caretaker grabbing their wrists or legs to keep them still and shushing them, risking to get hurt as well by Whumpee's wild behaviour.
Imagine Whumpee slowing down, struggling to keep their eyes open, and one last sob dying in their throat as they finally lose consciousness.
Caretaker can only sigh in relief.
