Hans Joachim Marselle was perhaps the greatest fighter pilot in the Luftwaffe during WW2. He was dashing fellow, fond of American music, disdainful of Hitler and respected by the RAF. Like most in the Luftwaffe, he was not a member of the Nazi Party. Died young from a mechanical failure while in flight in North Africa. I’ve always found him to be one of the most intriguing characters in the war.
