While playing the game again for the millionth time

I noticed something

When Pierrot visits MC at the workplace he has a brief interaction with the kid. It's clear the kid is not scared of him. So I was wondering...

Is one of the reasons why kids are not allowed in the circus because they may run off and enter the pink tent (which is forbidden)

And then when the kids start going missing it will cause a huge ruckus?

(That's just a theory....A GAME THEORY >:D)

Children are a big problem for a circus full of secrets they look too much, search too much, and see too much. Even if adults might not believe them, the members of the circus realized that children could become a real issue.

Especially if one of them were to disappear they know that draws a lot more attention. So none of them ever go near children.

That’s a bit of a tough question. The one who comes across as calmer (at times) would be the Fifth. And the most sadistic one… definitely Jester. It won’t take long for you all to find out why.

It makes me so happy to see how you’ve inspired so many people, and of course, that includes me too! I’ve been supporting you from afar and even managed to convince my friends to play The Freak Circus — we joke around that I threaten them with my pink bubble gun hahaha. But honestly, they ended up loving it SO much — the game, the novel, and especially your unique art style. Now they’re fans too and want to support you just like I do!

I think you’ll actually get a glimpse of that in the game. But Pierrot would still be that lovestruck guy, always excited to go on dates whenever the MC has free time.

Harlequin, in a scenario where he likes MC, would be more the type to occasionally watch them from afar, without constantly showing up at their workplace and once night falls, he’d wait outside to walk them home.

Yes! That’s something very personal for them, so it depends on your choices.

Keep in mind that none of them are blood-related, but they live as a family! I wouldn’t say they have favorites, but Jester, for example, gives everyone just the right amount of attention and he usually treats Pierrot with a bit more care. You’ll see a bit of that in an upcoming post.

Oh! Questions for me!

It’s been so much fun! I love all the details I created for their world and a lot of things changed along the way. Some parts were really different before I reached the version that ended up in the game.

In terms of personality? Harlequin, Jester, and the Fifth one they’re a bit more complex, so their interactions are super fun to write.

Yes! I have a short summary for another dating-sim-style game with a mysterious entity, and also another circus-themed story with different characters, but set in the same world.

Hi! Ever since I came across your game a few weeks ago, I've been hooked! There are tons of dub and memes in the Chinese community (like this evil Harlequin 😈). Sorry, my English isn't great, so it might sound a little weird (◔◡◔)

I'd like to ask about the design of Harlequin and Pierrot. How were their final looks chosen? They make a really strong first impression (especially Pierrot, he's so adorable!). I'm not sure if anyone has asked a similar question before. Finally, I wish you good health!

Hello! I’m really happy you’re enjoying it! And I absolutely loved that evil Harlequin haha! That expression fits him perfectly!

Pierrot came first I chose his design carefully, using lots of circus-inspired references and adding details I personally like. I also did a lot of color testing until I landed on this shade of red that I really love!

Harlequin, on the other hand, came to life much more easily. Since he was meant to be Pierrot’s rival, I instantly pictured him with green tones, and when I started writing his personality, his image popped into my head so clearly that I barely had to make any changes. There are a few details I’d probably change nowadays, but I think I’ll keep them as they are haha. Thank you!

I love how Pierrot scenes are written like the words you choose (I don’t really know how to explain it :>) And I have some questions! (Anddd obviously you can skip any question if you can’t answer without spoiling but I don’t think we’ll have this problem here!)

1 // Would adding a small “Easter egg” when the player enters the name “Colombina” at the start of the game be a good idea?

2 // Is it possible for Pierrot to actually devour the MC? Because in one of the endings he says “Don’t make me devour you too” so I was wondering if he’s actually capable of doing it or not

3 // Have Pierrot (or Harlequin) talked about the MC to the other monsters? And if yes what did they say? >⩊<

4 // What actually happened in the scene where there are eyes watching us? Did someone turn off the lights? This scene is so mysterious I can’t sleep without knowing exactly what happened ( ˶ˆᗜˆ˵ )

5 // And finallyyyy, when Pierrot breaks into our house for the first time when the MC wakes up she says something like she has a strange taste in her mouth, is Pierrot involved in that??

Nope! None of them mentioned it or feel like doing that, for personal reasons.

I hid a few small details in that scene some people even pointed them out in earlier comments haha. I do plan to tweak a few things there, but yes, someone did turn off the lights. It wasn’t an accident.

That’s also something I mentioned it’s up to the player to decide what really happened. There’s no right answer!

I think I took too long to answer this question, didn’t I? There are some endings already planned, and actually, from the start I mentioned on itch that there would be an ending where you can end up with either Pierrot or Harlequin haha, that situation really amuses me too! And I loved your fanfic, I ended up reading it more than once.

Ménage à Trois de Circo

Summary: Pierrot is relatively inexperienced in a situation like this, but Harlequin has no shortage of advice and direction to give— but only as long as he doesn't touch you.

Note: This is entirely self-indulgent character extrapolation (is not at all canon) since the game and characters are still in development, but when @tazz-was-here tells me 'Since Harlequin isn't a virgin he could probably dom Pierrot and Y/N at the same time' then I just gotta write it 👏

Pierrot couldn't be certain how he ended up in this... particular situation. He could be certain of some details leading up to it of course, such as the siren song of your slumbering breath or the adorable way your body twitched in your sleep.

He had been so very good up to this point, keeping a careful distance each and every night so that he didn't risk your comfort or safety— but both he and his sense of restraint were getting harder to contain with every passing night. It was as if you knew even in soft slumber how to entice him into a ravenous, clawing hunger that left him barely able to think straight.

And now you’re here. In this bed. His bed. Beneath his hands, claws trailing over your body’s curves and lines with a fascination edging on insanity. You’re looking at him with such sweet, pleading eyes. The eyes of prey, of a trembling rabbit waiting within the maw of a starving wolf.

But he didn’t know what to do.

He knows what to do in the most literal of senses, but Pierrot doesn’t know how to make his body listen, to take the final step over the precipice of his chastity towards you and claim your soul and body both as his. It feels like a wall of iron and steel, cold and unyielding as stark contrast to the warm give of your sensitive flesh.

“Is someone getting stage fright already?”

The voice cuts through the air like a knife, sharp and gutting Pierrot from his thoughts. He feels an ache from how hard his jaws clench, teeth grinding together in his only way of holding back the fury behind his silenced tongue. Without words Pierrot simply glances to the side, his eyes glowing with a potent mixture of lust and rage— the former for you, and the latter for him.

Harlequin merely smiles in turn, the glint of sharp teeth full of intrigue and venom in equal amounts.

“Oh, don’t look at me like that,” he chuckles, tilting his gaze so that those pinprick green eyes settle on you, fragile little thing, laying beneath your lover. “You were the one who wanted me to be here, did you not? Needing help, a guiding and experienced perspective to make sure you don’t… slip up?”

It is quite the odd situation, but one that all parties agreed to in some form or another. A truce, an… understanding of things. While within this forgotten tent in some corner of the circus, Pierrot and Harlequin would be civil. Cordial.

They were both, after all, benefiting from this agreement; for Pierrot he would be able to have you as he desired, to claim you without risking your safety due to his inexperience with human intimacy. For Harlequin, he was able to watch the delicious discomfort of his fellow performer— and you, of course. He greatly enjoyed watching you.

Harlequin would be a voyeur to the experience, offering only word and observation. He would not be allowed to touch. Talking was dangerous enough. Pierrot was all too aware just how capable the other could be by word alone, wielding a tongue sharper than any blade. It was a cruel, ironic twist where the red-clad creature could not even utter the sound of your name in front of him.

But it was worth it. Worth it to agree to this… situation.

Pierrot’s gaze finally moves back towards you, eyes growing soft and hungry with lust rather than anger once more. His hands settle oh-so-delicately upon your waist, as if he doesn’t quite know where to touch and explore first. You’re shivering against him— and it’s only by the cold comfort of Harlequin’s voice that assures him your shaking isn’t in fear or rejection.

“This rabbit trembles not from terror,” Harlequin purrs. “But something far more delicious. Go on now, why don’t you hold that pretty face in between your hands? Get a good look into those beautiful eyes before they’re filled with tears of pleasure.”

After just a moment of hesitation, Pierrot does as Harlequin instructs, carefully lifting and moving his palms from where they rested at your hips and up to your cheeks. He cups each side of your face against his gloved palm. You settle a little, leaning your face into his touch, eyes gazing shy and soft into his.

Everything still feels so raw and unfamiliar and new, your heart racing and your lips burning for the touch of Pierrot’s own.

“P…Pierrot?” You finally whimper, seeming to pull the other out of his quiet reverie. He tilts his head, trying to communicate his curiosity with a mere look.

The way you bite your bottom lip is utterly sinful, and Pierrot has to make sure he doesn’t start drooling from how ravishing you look in that moment.

“Please,” your voice is breathy, eyes flicking towards the observant shadow of deep green in the corner of the space. Staring. Teeth gleaming with a hunger you can’t quite shake off. “Please… touch me?”

Pierrot gives. He gives and gives until he’s not sure where the love starts and he himself ends. He is simply a conduit through which he can love you entirely, to feel your pleasure and meld it with his own, silent gaze drinking up every ounce of pleasure that moves across your face.

“Slower.”

The command is sharp and harsh. It actually surprises Pierrot to hear, though he has to stop himself from tensing up at the flicker of anger that moves across his mind upon hearing it.

No.

No, you are his to ravish and love and cherish and pleasure and—

“Slow down.”

A hand shoots out to grab Pierrot’s wrist and halt his motions, too quick for the eye to see before green-striped claws are biting down on the other’s arm.

Pierrot has two fingers pressed deep inside the tight grasp of your body, curled in such a way that he’s learned leaves you gasping for mercy. Your thighs are shaking on either side of where the man sits between them. He hadn’t even heard Harlequin striding towards the bed, so engrossed was he in your moans and whimpers of desire.

But now that he’s stopped, he can see how your chest rises and falls in ragged breaths. How your form twitches and shakes with every little movement of his fingertips nestled deep in your channel.

“Humans are fragile things, Pierrot,” Harlequin’s whisper is sharp. “And I trust you don’t want to break this one, do you?”

Pierrot doesn’t reply. Of course he cannot. But he doesn’t look at his fellow performer either, choosing instead to keep his glowing gaze on your face, your half-lidded eyes and how your lips are parted in a constant shape of his name upon them.

At that, the sharp claws recede from where they had gripped hard enough to tear into Pierrot’s uniform sleeve. No blood is drawn— or at least nothing that looks like blood— but there is a stinging pain left in its wake. Pierrot tries not to focus on how that slight pain sends a shiver of delight down his spine.

And then Harlequin speaks again.

“Good job,” the praise feels… only slightly hollow. “What a good boy you are, following orders. Isn’t it so much better to focus on listening than to speak?”

Pierrot finally gives into curiosity as he turns, looking to Harlequin with cautious confusion.

The other doesn’t offer much behind his mask of a vicious grin, too sharp at the edges that left him more unnerving than the others at times. But he’s staring back into Pierrot’s eyes. The first time they had truly looked at one another without anger coloring the vision.

Emerald eyes glitter in the dim light of the tent.

“Oh, I think we’re going to have so much fun tonight.”
