“Oh, thank God you’re okay!”

POST-TRAUMA | NOT ACCEPTING | @nekobasan 

            Dropping his HELMET on the floor, the young hero melted into his aunt’s arms. He didn’t have anything to say in return; his only response was to squeeze the embrace even tighter and press his cheek into her shoulder. Being a superhero was NO EASY FEAT, even on a good day, but things got MESSY when the criminals tried to pit the team against itself. No doubt the whole scene had been captured by the news cameras. People’s faith in the team would probably start to slip, and Hiro wouldn’t blame them. He’d screwed up, and his mistakes would be broadcast all over the city for days to come. 

            Sensing his distress, the woman began to gently run her fingers through his hair. She would’ve rubbed his back too, but he hadn’t removed the rest of his armor yet. Silently, she swore to change the channel on the television in the café to one that wasn’t a NEWS STATION. Hiro didn’t need to be REMINDED of the recent events.

          Chocolate smeared fingers. That was the first thing Cass noticed when she stepped into the kitchen. Hiro had snatched a cookie while she was distracted, she realized. She really was going to have to get used to keeping an eye on everything all at once.
