havent read the jjk manga but im aware of spoilers (they are ahead) so my understanding of the backlash to the story mostly boils down to "people are angry that the mentor died" and like idk what else they expected the mentor to do

a million issues with hotd s2, which have all been litigated to death. but given how much focus alicent gets, and how central the schism between alicent & her children was to the finale, it's baffling that we don't see the scene where aemond returns from storms end, and doubles down on his new reputation as a kinslayer.

adapting aegon's conquest is such a bad idea. the conquest is a very straightforward story of some guy winning over and over. and aegon works much better as a larger-than-life figure that people aspire to than as a real guy.
adapting maegor's ascension and rule would be way better. balerion in the hands of a monster is a way more compelling pitch & striking image. you could flesh out such an interesting relationship between maegor and his brothers & nephew. you get a really good mix of closeness and distance from aegon the conqueror by focusing on his sons. visenya rocks during the maegor years. you get the trial, the conflict with the faith, and a really good mysterious ending to play with. i genuinely think this would rip a lot.

very funny that helaena and allicent act like aemond is crazy for wanting his side of the war to make use of their only other functional full size WMD

Addam Velaryon is in an entirely different kind of fantasy series as everyone else where he’s an orphan that found a magical creature and is about to be picked up by his secret rich dad, presented by pixar. Good for him

loved the sibling motif this episode. daemon, aemond, and allicent all coveted what their brothers had and resented them for it. daemon is wallowing in regret for how he fucked things up with viserys, aemond has turned into the joker, and only allicent succeeds in meaningfully relating to her sibling. maybe it's because gwayne reciprocated her jealousy. maybe its because their different genders, making their different wants unactionable. really great stuff. olivia, ewan, and matt are going sicko mode

kind of obsessed with this side of tiktok that im on where "tv people" will be doing like head to heads of their favourite shows with some pretty reasonable categories (best protagonist, best comedy) and then stuff like "dynamics" and "enjoyment". they invented powerscalers for art
