Top 5 Risks at a Construction Site
Tumblr media
With people working at height and with heavy machinery and sharp tools, construction sites are definitely the riskiest and challenging place to work. The chances of injury or risk of safety always hover in this industry. The industry is recorded with a fatality rate that stands second among all the sectors. Here, we draw your attention on some of the most prominent risks that exist on construction sites.
Working at height: Working at height is an indispensable part of the construction industry. Obviously, workers take the support of a ladder, scissor lift, scaffolding or crane to climb up and finish their work but they forget that in this duration they have a risk to fall from these climbers. A fall from these climbers gets them straight to a ground, leaving behind severe injuries and pain. Therefore, it is better to train workers for this most obvious reason of injuries and accidents at a construction site.
Moving or falling objects: Workers working at a height and dropping their tool by mistake is a common sight at a construction site. This falling tool can cause severe injury to the person working beneath. Further, with so many people and machinery moving here and there on a site, there are always chances of getting hurt due to collision or banging against each other.
Slips, trips and falls: With uneven muddy terrain, dug holes, tools lying around, and so many people working at the same time, the slips, trips and falls are usual to happen in a construction industry. Here, it is important for people to work with utmost precaution and care in order to avoid the risk at their best.
Electricity: Whenever there is a new construction, the electrical installation has to follow. Working with cables, wires, circuits really requires a good training, practice and a sense of working with electricity. This job should not be handed over to anybody. There should be well geared and trained electricians at the site for this. Remember a little mistake here can put your entire construction and workforce on a stake.
Noise:Due to big running machines, a lot of noise is produced at construction sites and if workers are continuously exposed to such high level of noise then there can be a serious lifelong hearing damage. The workers at the site should always be taught about the dangers that can affect them at different levels. They must be trained to use the right protective equipment so that they can be saved from such major losses.
