★ ꜛ ࣪ ˖ ❘❙❚ BAEK SEOYEON, better known by her professional alias, YEONA is a singer part of kpop group NCT. she was part of the original SMROOKIES, and was rumoured to be part of the debut lineup for what would become RED VELVET. however, on november 14 2014, she debuted with her single “MIRROR”. yeona was an overnight star and gained a lot of traction especially from other sm entertainment groups fandoms. in 2015, however, right as her comeback was rumoured, a rumour spread that she was dating someone within the company and exo-l’s immediately jumped to conclusions that is was OH SEHUN due to their long term friendship. sm never addressed the comments.

she debuted with nct as part of “THE 7TH SENSE” lineup, and later as part of NCT 127 with “FIRETRUCK”. fans of the smrookies did not anticipate female members so her part in the debut lineups came as a shock to most of the fandom, as well as the industry itself who was still not used to co-ed groups, especially in one of the big three. her solo fans, however, were perfectly split on the matter and some were angry that sm was “reducing her” to a group.

in 2018, yeona was announced as the leader to the new unit, NCT STARS, which surprised no one, because of her ‘maternal’ attitude towards the younger members of 127. yeona participated in the writing process for the title track of their first album, “TALK THAT TALK”.

2019 brought on yeona’s more than half a year hiatus, which is believed to be due to knee issues after surgery reports were leaked. although sm never took any legal action towards the leaks or even clarified her haitus beyond “taking a rest”, nctzens felt confident in the rumours based on the other members comments on her hiatus.

yeona came back with a solo first which shocked many fans, especially as she sparked dating rumours with 127 fellow member, JOHNNY SUH. her comeback solo “PLAYER”, she sported new blonde hair. shortly after, she promoted “PUNCH” with 127 and “NXDE” with stars.
