Know About The Natural Vitamin E
Vitamin E (tocopherol) is an important fat-soluble vitamin that plays several roles in the body. Its most important role is as an antioxidant to protect the body from the oxidative stress. Vitamin E also helps keep the immune system strong.
Vitamin E naturally exists in eight different forms (alpha-, beta-, gamma-, and delta-tocopherols and tocotrienols) each of which has slightly different activity in the body. Natural vitamin E is generally labelled d-Alpha Tocopherol, d-Alpha Tocopheryl Acetate, or d-Alpha Tocopherol Succinate and Natural Mixed Tocopherols ( mixture of beta, gamma, and delta tocopherols).
Natural Vitamin E is called D-Alpha Tocopherol while Synthetic is known as Dl-Alpha Tocopherol (D=Natural, Dl= Synthetic).Natural Vitamin E is extracted from 100% Natural sources like Soya, Sunflower & Rapeseed, whereas Synthetic Vitamin E is chemically prepared in chemical plants from petrochemicals namely Isophytol & Tri Methyl Hydroquinone.
Advantages & application of Natural Vitamin E
Natural Mixed Tocopherol
Natural Mixed Tocopherol works as an excellent antioxidant. It has application in food, human nutrition, animal & pet care, cosmetics, personal care and pharmaceutical products. It delays the process of oxidation and helps in increasing the shelf life of the products and preserves their freshness.
d-Alpha Tocopherol
Alpha-tocopherol is considered the most active natural form because it is the preferred form of vitamin E transported and used by the liver. d-Alpha Tocopherol shows 100% Bioavailability among all the Tocopherol molecules. The bioavailability of Tocopherol molecules is in order: Alpha>Beta>Gamma> Delta. This is due to presence of enzyme protein called Alpha Tocopherol Transfer Protein (α-TTP) in the liver which gives special preference to Alpha Tocopherol molecule & preferentially puts it in Human blood serum & tissues. Hence d-Alpha Tocopherol fulfills most of the body nutritional requirement for Vitamin E & is its most important Antioxidant defence.
d-Alpha Tocopheryl Acetate & d-Alpha Tocopheryl succinate are esterified form of d-Alpha Tocopherol. They have reduced susceptibility to degradation when exposed to air or elevated processing temperatures providing flexibility in product formulations.. Thus external environmental conditions like sunlight, oxygen & other oxidizing agents have no effect on their stability. They show no reactivity with other compounds, minerals or vitamins.
Thus Vitamin E Acetate and Vitamin E succinate are intended to be used as stable form of Natural Vitamin E supplement wherein their temporarily sealed antioxidant property provides unique advantage in various product formulations.
Avail the Importance of Vitamin E in skincare
Vitamin E is extremely valuable in anti-aging skincare creams and lotions. As per the recent studies, it is proven to reduce the wrinkles and fine lines on the skin. With that, this helps in preventing the appearance of age spots. It also makes your skin look extremely better and then give a youthful look.
As an antioxidant, Vitamin E also protects the skin from pollution, UV radiation, poor nutrition, and aging. Commonly used Vitamin E Acetate/Tocopheryl Acetate, is completely Synthetic & Wrong form to be used in cosmetic & personal care applications. It has Inactive / blocked Hydroxyl Group hence unable to show any Antioxidant activity or benefits of Vitamin E. In contrast, Natural Mixed Tocopherol has active Hydroxyl group & hence readily shows Antioxidant activity & other nourishing properties of Vitamin E on Topical applications.
