thank you for your answer!
what is it people don't get about cloud atlas? and is the movie better than the book?
Hi! So first of all, the "they just don't get it" is really just the first thing that pops into my head when people say they don't like the movie, I don't actually believe that. It's so fine to dislike any movie including Cloud Atlas (for any reason but especially the use of yellow face of course...). That being said, I think some people started watching it expecting just kinda a funky action movie and they don't know that it's a combination of multiple stories of different genres and get confused and then they just can't get into the movie due to wrong expectations 🤷♀️
Regarding the book: I saw the movie first so I'm biased but I did like the movie better. All of the language varieties between the stories in the book are really cool and mostly missing from the movie unfortunately, but there are some storyline changes that I preferred in the movie and I also liked the storytelling mode of the stories being told at the same time rather than just being told in two halves better. The choice of having the same actors play a bunch of different characters also works really well with the overall point I thought (even if there's a few bad choices like the use of yellow face). But yeah, I think both are really good, I just have a special connection to the movie in particular :)

i totes ship two of my professors. they teach similar topics but one teaches preciseness and logic while the other teaches the craft and the creative aspects. their personalities contrast each other but in that way in which they would balance each other out. they haven't mentioned their marital statuses yet - could be canon!
