Diaclone Waruder Suits (脳8) plus some creativity. Particularly proud of finding a way to give it a big, kaiju-esque mouth.

Haven't taken any shots since I moved in may, figured I'd at least take the time to show off some of the recent additions. Proper sets for some of these soon.

Emergency shelf reorganization after picking up figma Joker and Red as well as a pair of digimon. It was getting awfully crowded as it was, now I have a little bit of room again!

I have a problem. I have a nendroid and a figma and I don't know if I should open them.
In my opinion? Absolutely open them.
First and foremost most Japanese merchandise geared towards collectors is meant for display. They include special parts, engineering and features geared specifically to give the owner a number of options to that end.
The reason why a lot of folks who collect American merchandise want to keep things mint in box is to preserve their condition. If that鈥檚 why you鈥檙e collecting, more power to you! Most of those kinds of toys were meant for kids to play rather than display and keeping them in the box not only guarantees that they stay in pretty good shape but also allows for an easier time displaying them. Older figures that are harder to fine are especially good to keep in the packaging.
But figures like Figma, Revoltech and Nendoroid are intended for a different audience. Unlike the Star Wars and Transformers you might find at Target or Toys R Us, these guys are meant for an older audience. Rather than young kids ages 3-12 staging epic battles on their bedroom floor, these are meant to be posed and displayed on bookshelves, desks, etc.
They come with stands to display them on, as well as any number of extra parts and goodies to shake it up. Of course, they are still action figures. I get all kinds of joy figuring out neat poses and scenarios to take pictures of or set up for display.
I guess what it really boils down to is what do you want to do with your purchase? Most figma run Between $40 and $60 depending on the size and accessory count, Nendos start at $30 or so. Is it worth it to you to leave it in the box at that price? If the answer is yes, no worries. Your toy do what you want.
Couple of recommendations if you open them:
1. The figma should come with a small bag for all the spare accessories but most nendos do not. I highly recommend getting a small ziplock bag so you don鈥檛 loose track of any of the little things! I鈥檓 currently missing the bow for my Nendo BotW Link DX edition and it kills me a little inside to think about.
2. When handling a new figma for the first time, take your time to carefully explore its range of motion and how well it鈥檚 articulated. While not super聽fragile, they are made out of a softer plastic than you may be used to and it鈥檚 not hard to put stress on the joints and pegs holding all the bits together. Be especially mindful of wrists and any cape or skirt pieces the figure may have. The wrists are especially skinny and easily stressed and sometimes the hands can be a bit difficult to switch depending on the style of wrist and the individual figma.
3. Have fun! Don鈥檛 be afraid to go a little wild with it and see what fun and interesting poses you can come up with.
At the end of the day, all that matters is that you are happy with your purchase. I hope this was helpful to you!

But at what cost... AT WHAT COST?!
Tragedy struck my Skyward Sword Link figma today. I decided to make the most of it. So much for the photo set I had planned on.
#thanks everyone#going to keep giving this a shot#probably shift back to transformers for a bit#then some anime stuff#and robots#and probably more Zelda after I find nendo BotW Link's bow
