'I don't know what it is like to not have deep emotions. Even when I feel nothing, I feel it completely' — Sylvia Plath

I’ll never be free of her. I wear her face; as I get older it’ll stay her changing mirror, the one glimpse of all the ages she never had. I lived her life, for a few strange bright weeks; her blood went into making me what I am, the same way it went to make the bluebells and the hawthorn tree

Usually in an unsolved murder case the public feared that the killer might strike again. Here, though, the fear was that he or she could be duplicated in any home. The case undermined the very idea that a locked house-hold was safe. Until it was solved, an English mother would sleep uneasily, haunted with the idea that her house harboured a child-killer - it could be her husband, her nanny, her daughter.
Kate Summerscale, The Suspicions of Mr. Whicher: Or the Murder at Road Hill House

I have grown up in an atmosphere of suppression. . . . I have stifled and dwarfed the natural feelings of my heart, until they have become unnatural in their intensity; I have been allowed neither friends nor lovers. My mother died when I was very young . . . I have had no one but my brother.

There's such a lot of different Annes in me. I sometimes think that is why I'm such a troublesome person. If I was just the one Anne it would be ever so much more comfortable, but then it wouldn't be half so interesting.

At first people refuse to believe that a strange new thing can be done, then they begin to hope it can be done, then they see it can be done--then it is done and all the world wonders why it was not done centuries ago.

A hint of what music might have been like for people in the Regency period.
"Hearing music was a relatively rare event and it was valued in a way we can't imagine and probably had a psychological impact beyond anything we can imagine, overwhelmed as we are in an environment that is so filled with music that we have lost our ability to marvel at it"

I kicked of 2024 reading 📚 English Women’s Clothing in the Nineteenth Century A Comprehensive Guide with 1117 Illustrations. by C. Willett Cunnington.
It has been in my library for a long while and to be honest I didn't start to read it before because I knew it would be a massive dive in. And so I decided that it would be the perfect passion project for the first quarter of this year.
I'm so excited 😆. Oh and I'll probably be sharing some doodles from my studies so stay tuned!

INKTOBER DAY 5: MAP
https://Instagram.com/nanashi_art_23/
Remember when I said that I would not spend more than 2 hours in each drawing and that I would not spend more than one day on a single prompt?
Well... guess who spent 6h 39min on this drawing 😅
But I must say... I really really like it, like I dont want to save it to fix it latter or anything like that... and that never happens. I mean I'm often satisfied whith my completed drawings but NEVER like this.
It also made me feel that it was worth to fall behind on inktober (we are already on day 8 and this is prompt 5 from the official list) and get a little (maybe a lot) behind schedule with work.
But the thing is that it's been a long while since I took some time to prioritize leveling up my skills. I was feeling stuck and unmotivated and I felt a lot of friction every time I had to sit down to draw and it just wasn't fun it was "work". Or so I had though but what was really going on was that I was spending 10 to 12 hours drawing and when I completed something it didnt feel completed, there was always something off, I couldn't find out what it was so I convinced myself that it was ok, that it was just my imagination. But it wasn't, it rather was that, deep down, I knew I could improve it but I hadn't experimented enough to know HOW. I could never find the time to make a pause, because I was working on one project after the other and there was always something to do, and I didn't even need a long pause, just one week was enough but I kept postponing it (I'm sure this is something that everyone has been through at some point of their lives)
And finally, I took that pause last week, and I'm really happy that I did, I'm inlove and obsessed with drawing again. This inktober is proving itself to be perfect and this drawing is my favorite so far.

INKTOBER DAY 1: DREAM.
Maybe this amount of detail wasn't a good choice. I don't want to spend more than one day on each prompt, so I'll leave this one unfinished until the challenge is over. Moving on to the next one.
