I’m kinda disappointed with the young adult section of my bookstores and libraries rn. I’ve never really liked reading sex scenes in my fantasy books and it feels like that’s all it ever is anymore. I recently got a book with a plot that I thought I would enjoy bc it’s about a war torn country and a girl whose trying to save her family and I got into the book and suddenly a man shows up and she’s all over his ass. I guess I could have looked it up on goodreads or smth but I like just going and finding stuff so having the young adult section have so many books where the girl gets with the same type of love interest and they immediately have sex is a little frustrating. Idk, just me?

hear me out. I feel like Haunting Adeline could’ve been an ok book if it didn’t romance whatever the fuck Zade was doing to her.

it could have kind of cut the dark part and Zade could have seen Adeline looking really pretty and read her books and fallen in love with the way she writes. This also could have given Adeline more time to have her career and character fleshed out a little more. For the sex part, they could have consensually explored darker parts, like being chased or bondage or use of outside objects. BUT it would have been consensual

then, if you want to keep Zade being a fucking human shit-stain, you could have had this writer who moved into her grandparents house and is being stalked by somebody, blah blah blah stalking crazy roses yada yada. BUT she could have been actually afraid and gotten revenge on him, idk how, but she could have messed him up.

I get that some people like the actual fucking crime that Zade was committing but the book was low key just written poorly and none of the characters felt fleshed out. The concept was there ig but the book was shit. Humble opinion.

Lemme hold ur hand babes. Cassian was not always by her side, Cassian hurt her intensely and the rest of the book completely ignored it. Also, tf is a “real” stan. I’m not dickriding the author for this poor excuse of a relationship. Sarah J Mass has a very set criteria for her love interests. They have to be older than the ML, they have to somewhat train the ML and they’re always gonna be super duper powerful. This means that a lot of these relationships aren’t healthy. Nesta deserves better.

little confused on the difference between mentally ill and neurodivergent but I’m gonna give it a shot

Mentally ill (to me) is the type of stuff that very negatively impacts the way you live ur life. So stuff like depression or anxiety. It’s something you get as you get older. Not saying you can’t have anxiety or depression because someone in ur family had it but the stuff you have as u get older.

neurodivergence is stuff that can negatively affect you but doesn’t always, like Autism and ADHD. It can definitely affect the way people look at you but there’s nothing wrong with being that.

I love giving “dainty” characters big weapons. It’s my favorite thing ever daisy gets her big hammer, peach gets a claymore twice her height and like 12 times her weight, Rosalina gets a nuke. I’m definitely considered posting what every character should have. They need weapons yall.

replaying cyberpunk and ya gotta think about how scary it is for V. Like, boo lost Jackie, got Johnny, and is being killed by him. Bc at that point ur questioning whether or not any of her choices are choices she’d actually make or if there choices that Johnny would make. And then you’ve got Johnnys addictions, you don’t see V smoking until Evelyn’s thing at Judy’s. Imagine never (or hardly) smoking and suddenly you’ve got this awful craving for cigarettes all the time.
