The thing about birthdays is that most people had to celebrate them alone with an insane amount of attention directed towards them, but being a twin, Nilay didn't have to celebrate by herself. Her birthday was a day to be shared with the most amazing person- her best friend- Latife. When Latife appeared, Nilay couldn't help but grin and pull her into a hug. "Oh, I have a Pinterest board! I'll send you a link later." She beamed, taking her sister's hand. "I was thinking we could maybe do a real classy black and white theme. There's a little bakery just outside of Brooklyn that does some amazing cake decorating, so I could send you their list of flavours, if you want?"
day of birth
The thing about birthdays is that they should be special. But being twins it always felt like hers had to be shared, well in a way it was shared due to Nilay having the same date of birth. So when she walked into her condo, she bumped into her sister soon enough. Giving her three kisses on the cheek, she asked:" So what do we want our birthday to look like this year - whose invited - who isn't invited, and most importantly, can I choose the cake flavor?"

Nilay had been trying to keep a low profile since the gossip blast about Jake had revealed the secret she had been keeping since high school. Admittedly, it was somewhat of a relief to not have to worry about it anymore, but that didn't make her feel any less guilty for not telling Jake the truth. All that aside, Nilay wasn't one to miss an Upper East Side event, so as low-key as it was, she had found herself mingling by the canapés.
Upon hearing Sam's voice speak her name, she turned her attention to him, smiling as she did. "Sam." She exhaled his name softly, stepping towards him. They hadn't really seen each other since college had started back, but he was, of course, still as handsome as ever. "It's no trip to the Acquavella, but it passes the time. How have you been? How's college going?"
Sam had been grateful to have school (read: football) to focus on again. This summer had threatened to tear down everything he'd built. So much for staying 'drama free', right? But he'd made it now. 'Gossip Girl' had made another attack but it wasn't on him (it was Jake- he cringed from the guilt). Distraction had led him to Caisson Andrews' birthday party. He was only gonna stay for an hour, tops.
That's when he saw her: Nilay Levent.
It couldn't have been a good idea to walk over to her but Sam seemed to be doing it anyway. Without thinking, an easy smile fell on his face, tone clearly teasing--- "Nilay Levent... Are you having fun?"

babbyyybeaumcnt:
Baby was walking around taking in the view when she stopped at a particular photo of Ceren smiling, there was something about the photo that just drew her in, perhaps it was the genuine joy she felt radiating from the picture. “How beautiful…” She whispered softly.
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
Nilay smiled when she noticed her old study buddy and good friend wandering around the party and immediately approached her to say hello. Normally Elizabeth would have been who she sought out at events like these, but she wasn’t entirely sure what was going on with her these days. “Hi Baby. Isn’t the décor for this party stunning?”

Nina’s mouth dropped open when she spotted Elizabeth Baizen drinking and dancing without a care in the world. Perhaps she was mistaken. Surely, this wasn’t the same girl that she often had nice chit chats with at all of the Upper East Side events? Careful not to bump into anyone, Nina made her way over to her, “Elizabeth?”
When dancing and drinking for the good of your own soul rather than underneath the pressures of peers, Effy preferred to go at it alone. Everyone she’d ever met must’ve been only yards away. This is how Effy made her debut back to Hamptons and friends, aloof and without a single hello. The important few wouldn’t care, if they still existed.

Nina smiled at her old study buddy as she approached her and she shook her head. “Don’t worry. I imagine this party will be going long after we’re home in our pyjamas.”
Baby was casually late for the party, which wasn't her usual fashion. Normally she would be first to arrive so she could be first to leave but this time she got distracted by one of her books and lost track of time.
She moved to the first person in her sight and asked: "Please tell me the party isn't over yet?"

“I think it’s pretty much a legal requirement to bring flip flops and a towel to any Logan Hunter gathering”
So this is a Logan Hunter Bonfire Bash, huh? I get the hype now. Still too sandy for my taste, but I get it.

♛ Spotted on the Upper East Side…
Name: Nina Hastings Pronouns: She/Her Age: 20 years old Hometown: Upper East Side, NY Occupation: Junior at TBD College Social Status: Insider Faceclaim: Willa Fitzgerald
Who Is Nina?
“Well she always knows her place, she’s got style, she’s got grace, she’s a winner— she’s a lady.”
Nina Hastings, everyone’s favourite little lady. You know, I am still waiting for the day even a whisper of gossip passes my DMs about you. Don’t tell me you don’t have even one skeleton in your closet? Just one juicy secret that you can’t wait for me to tell. Please? Lucky for both of us, I’m patient. You’ve always been a picture perfect socialite-in-training, naming every tiny spoon on the table before you even knew your ABCs. Image is important to you, protecting the reputation of yourself and your family. You want to make your parents proud not cringe with embarrassment. You… Well, you want to be the exact opposite of your darling twinsie. You might love Lyndsy but I think we both know that you’d rather snap your favourite pearl necklace than ever end up like her. You promise not to judge others, minding your own business is your number one hobby, but you can’t hide everything. Tell me how you really feel, Neens. I’m all ears. XOXO —Gossip Girl
A Little Extra
Nina Hastings has never been caught with a hair out of place. As of yet, not one bad photo has been located of her and you shouldn’t start making any bets about one emerging. Perfect isn’t easy but it is Nina. She loves coloured coordinating her outfits (pastels are a fave), getting her nails French manicured and clipping a well placed bow into her glossy locks. Education has always been her number one priority. No one was going to buy Nina into her spot at an Ivy League, she was going to earn it. Fight for it. She spends much of her free time studying or tucked away with a good book and calming chamomile tea. Nina always liked to keep herself to herself and had decided long ago it’d be over her dead body that she ever ended up splashed inappropriately across Gossip Girl. Nina has never missed a weekend trip to the Hamptons or an invitation to a ‘can’t-miss’ party, she just knows how to control how much fun she has. Tequila was, after all, supposed to be sipped.
This, among many other things, makes Nina the opposite of her twin sister Lyndsy. While Nina has always been a very private person, Lyndsy opens her life up to her thousands of Instagram followers every single say. She does adore Lyndsy, she’s her best friend and she admires how bright, confident and loud she is. Lyndsy has always been one of those people you either love or love to hate, and Nina has no time for anyone who chooses to hate her. As quiet as she can be, if anyone is caught bad mouthing her sister then nothing will stop her from stepping in and executing a politely vicious verbal tear down. For everyone else who isn’t Lyndsy, Nina likes to keep them at arm’s length. The best way to stay out of drama is to not be the person someone calls at 4 in the morning for help. Nina’s your regular prissy princess who just wants to fly under the radar in peace. Good luck with that, Ms Hastings.
What Does Gossip Girl Have On Them?
Nina Hastings has absolutely nothing to do with Gossip Girl, thank you very much and she does not appreciate you spreading such a rumour. Well, until her good friend Jesse Walker said ‘pretty please’.
Connections
Lyndsy Hastings - twin sister! Lyndsy is Nina’s best friend and favourite person in the world. On a surface level, they don’t really have much in common but they do have a truly breakable bond.
Sophia Vandervort and Baby Beaumont - study buddies from Constance Billard. Nina enjoyed their company and small talk.
Sapphire Vandervort - on a night when Lyndsy insisted she come out to a party, she met a very inebriated Sapphire Vandervort. Vulnerable things were confessed and Nina was sworn to secrecy.
Elizabeth Baizen - Nina and Elizabeth have attended numerous events, luncheons, galas with their families and always end up having polite chit chat by the water cress sandwiches.

[Without even really turning to address the person sitting down next to her–her eyes are fixed on her compact where she’s checking her lipstick–she waves them away with her free hand] No.
Lyndsy. [ She scolded her ] Would it really have been so terrible to let him sit here?

“Well she always knows her place, she’s got style, she’s got grace, she’s a winner— she’s a lady.”
♛ Spotted on the Upper East Side…
NINA HASTINGS. A SEVENTEEN YEAR OLD SENIOR AT CONSTANCE BILLARD WHO HAILS FROM THE UPPER EAST SIDE. LUCKY FOR NINA, SHE IS ALREADY AN INSIDER. HER FACECLAIM IS WILLA FITZGERALD.
Nina Hastings has never been caught with a hair out of place. As of yet, not one bad photo has been located of her and I wouldn’t start making any bets about one emerging. Perfect isn’t easy but it is Nina. She loves coloured coordinating her outfits (pastels are a fave), getting her nails French manicured and clipping a well placed bow into her glossy locks. When it comes to her education she takes it pretty seriously and prides herself on doing all she can do to beat her fellow students to the top of the class. Unlike some of them, she’s not going to let her parents buy her into an Ivy League school. Nina spends her free hours at school tucked away in the library with a makeshift study group of like-minded blondes including Sophia Vandervort and Baby Beaumont. Nina likes to keep herself to herself and it’ll be over her dead body that she ever ends up splashed inappropriately across Gossip Girl. She still ticks all the elite boxes mind you and she’s never missed a weekend trip to the Hamptons or an invitation to a party— classy or otherwise, Nina just knows how to control how much fun she has. She prefers to sip on champagne or a good Merlot than tackle a row of shots. Tequila was, after all, meant to be sipped.
If you’re thinking all of this doesn’t sound like a Hastings at all then you’re probably confusing Nina with her twin sister Lyndsy Hastings. While Nina has always been a very private person, there’s isn’t much her sister won’t throw out there for all the world to see or, at least, all of Instagram to see. She adores Lyndsy, she’s her best friend and she admires how bright, confident and loud she is. Lyndsy has always been one of those people you either love or love to hate and Nina has no time for those who choose to hate her. As quiet as she can be, if anyone is caught bad mouthing her sister then nothing will stop her from stepping in and executing a politely vicious verbal tear down. Nina also allows Lyndsy to tease and pester her into coming along to this, that and the next thing and while she protests, she can never say no to her. That was why on one particularly wild night out she found herself coming to the aid of a very drunk Sapphire Vandervort. The two girls had gone to school together all their lives but hadn’t ever really spoken before until that night. Sapphire was hardly coherent but very vulnerable and Nina promised that she hadn’t heard a thing and her lips were sealed. Despite what Gossip Girl might have you believe, some people can keep a secret.
While she doesn’t voice it, acting like a lady is terribly important to Nina. She herself holds no judgement for other people, their business is still their business even if the world knows about it but she has a set of rules to follow to keep herself out of trouble, and the limelight. Morals can be hard to come by on the Upper East Side so she likes to keep hers loose yet reasonable. She also takes her responsibility of carrying her family’s names seriously. If Nina has to attend a charity ball or lunch or learn a silly dance then she does it without complaint and in style. When it comes to these family obligation she often runs into Elizabeth Baizen who is doing much the same. The two make small talk and nibble on water cress sandwiches and sip orange juice together and it doesn’t go much further than that. Nina is quite happy to have most of her relationships to fall under that category. Keeping people at arm’s length is a tried and tested way of keeping yourself out of their drama. She has empathy of course but that doesn’t mean she wants to be the one that you’re calling at 4AM in tears, begging for a ride home (unless, of course, it’s her sister). A regular prissy princess and with no reason to be ashamed of it, Nina just wants to coast through the middle this year. Good luck, Neens.
You know you love me,
xoxo –Gossip Girl
