The Death of Chris McCandless
On September 6, 1992, the decomposed body of Christopher McCandless was discovered by moose hunters just outside the northern boundary of Denali National Park. He had died inside a rusting bus. Taped to the door was a note scrawled on a page torn from a novel:
ATTENTION POSSIBLE VISITORS. S.O.S. I NEED YOUR HELP. I AM INJURED, NEAR DEATH, AND TOO WEAK TO HIKE OUT OF HERE. I AM ALL ALONE, THIS IS NO JOKE. IN THE NAME OF GOD, PLEASE REMAIN TO SAVE ME. I AM OUT COLLECTING BERRIES CLOSE BY AND SHALL RETURN THIS EVENING. THANK YOU, CHRIS McCANDLESS AUGUST ?
It appeared that McCandless had been dead for 19 days. Before this stage it was indicated that he was 24 years old and weighed 140 pounds. After his body was flown out of the wilderness, an autopsy determined that it weighed 67 pounds. The probable cause of death, according to the coroner’s report, was starvation.

The Radioactive Man Who Returned To Fukushima To Feed The Animals That Everyone Else Left Behind
Naoto Matsumura is the only human brave enough to live in Fukushima’s 12.5-mile exclusion zone
Tumblr media
He fled at first but returned to take care of the animals that were left behind
Tumblr media
He returned for his own animals at first, but realized that so many more needed his help, too
Tumblr media
Matsumura, who is 55 years old, knows that the radiation is harmful, but he “refuses to worry about it”
Tumblr media
“They also told me that I wouldn’t get sick for 30 or 40 years. I’ll most likely be dead by then anyway, so I couldn’t care less”
Tumblr media
Matsumura discovered that thousands of cows had died locked in barns
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He also freed many animals that had been left chained up by their owners
Tumblr media
Many of them now rely on him for food
Tumblr media
The government has forbidden him from staying, but that doesn’t stop him either
Tumblr media
He started in 2011 and is still going strong 4 years later
Tumblr media
He relies solely on donations from supporters to work with and feed the animals
Tumblr media
His supporters are calling him the ‘guardian of Fukushima’s animals’
Tumblr media
The man clearly has a sense of humor as well

“Wodnik”
In slavic mythology Wodnik was a protector demon of lakes and rivers. He had green skin and green fish eyes. Neutral to humans unless angered by theit behavior and by no respect to the waters under his protection. He could then drawn them or just pretend to do so or he could catch them strongly and drag them down to his underwater dwellings made of ice to be his slaves.

Punishing Shoes, The victim would see how long they could stand on their tiptoes before they would fall back and get spikes jammed into their heel. This was used a torturing device during the medieval ages.

Suicide Helmet
Nearly 40 years ago, a very bright, but very troubled, young man decided to build something. He meticulously labored over it for weeks until it was finally complete. Within days of completing his project, the boy was found dead.
He had built a suicide helmet, hand crafted and designed to deliver nine shotgun shells simultaneously to his head. A shell was placed inside each of the helmet’s hollow metal tubes. Then a nail was fitted at the end of each tube.
The nails were wired together to an arc welder, which provided the electricity that would ignite the primer and fire the shells. While it’s now missing from the helmet, the police believed that the wiring was made from old coat hangers.
The entire helmet is also covered in a fiberglass/epoxy material that kept the helmet together when the shells fired. The nail at the top of the helmet was wired as a manual backup that could be set off if the other shells failed to fire.(Source)

This horror comic is known as the Kelpie. This mythological creature is a shape-shifting water spirit inhabiting the lochs and pools of Scotland. It has usually been described as appearing as a horse. It tricks people into riding them and then drowns them. (Source: porceliandoll.deviantart.com)

Boy in the Box
In 1957, an unidentifiable boy was found dead in a cardboard box in Philadelphia. He was naked, malnourished, and beaten, though his body was clean. His footprints, which were cross-checked to local hospitals, brought up no matches. He quickly became known as “The Boy in The Box.” He was eventually buried, as no leads to his murder were found, and has remained unidentified to this day.

Seattle’s Mystery Soda Machine
On the corner of John Street and 10th Avenue East, in the heart of Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood lies the world’s most mysterious soda vending machine. Nobody knows the true history of the rusting machine, which looks like it was spat straight out of the Seventies, but locals continue to plunk down their change and the machine never seems to run out of stock. Who first installed the outdoor machine, who stocks it, and who collects the money are all a mystery.
The modern antique offers a comparatively limited selection of drinks with yellowed plastic buttons offering Coke, Mountain Dew, Pepsi, and Barq’s, but the intriguing button marked “Mystery” generally produces none of these. According to one report, after spending five dollars in change on the mystery button, the machine produced six different brand of soda, none of which had their own button on the machine.
Given the air of the unknown that surrounds the vending relic, many locals have tried to divine the origins of the machine and its endless wellspring of name-brand soda, but so far no answers have been forthcoming, no matter how many times the “Mystery” button is pressed. (Source)

Butterflies suck nectar from flowers for nourishment, but they also feed on on rotting fruit, animal dung and decaying corpses. Flowers alone do not provide enough sodium for butterflies, so they are attracting to salty things. If a butterfly has ever landed on you, it is because the butterfly was attracted by the smell of salt in your sweat and blood.
