how much exercise should you do per week for maximum health benefits?
note: while getting enough of different types of exercise is important, as different types of exercise bring different primary benefits, the most important thing is that you are moving your body! don’t feel pressured to do a strict amount of cardio per week if you don’t like cardio, especially if you are new to exercise. this goes for any other type of exercise. it’s totally okay to do the exercise you enjoy doing, as long as you are doing it!
how much cardio should you be doing?
while this may differ according to your personal health, conditions you may have, your goals, etc. (as with any other form of exercise), the general advice given by professionals and the American Heart Association is at least 75 minutes of vigorous aerobic activity or 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity per week. if we are going with 150 minutes per week, this would mean at least 21 minutes per day, or 30 minutes 5x per week. this schedule may vary depending on your schedule, but the overall goal is 75 or 150 minutes per week!
how much strength/weight training should you be doing?
while different professional sources have varying opinions on this, the most common advice is 60-90 minutes per week. if we are using 90 minutes per week, this would equal to 13 minutes per day, 18 minutes 5x per week, or 30 minutes 3x per week.
how much yoga/stretching should you be doing?
it is important to at least include a short cool down stretch after your workout to prevent injury and reduce soreness, but when it comes to yoga, it is recommended that you include at least a 1 hour session 3x per week, although doing a bit each day is considered ideal. using the guide of 3 hours per week, this would equal 26 minutes per day, 36 minutes 5x per week, or 60 minutes 3x per week.
how much pilates should you be doing?
while many do not include pilates in their routine or do not consider it necessary, i and many others find it incredibly beneficial due to its ability to work the smaller muscle groups that weight training usually does not. it is generally recommended that you do a 45 minute session 3-4x per week. this would also equal 19 minutes daily if you prefer to split it that way.

I spend a lot of time trying to separate Persephone from Demeter, trying to define her as the goddess outside of Mother of the Land, Goddess of Grain. But it is becoming really hard to because the ancients defined Persephone/Kore in relation to Demeter too. In and out of the Eleusinian Mysteries. With the above passage in particular, it talks about the seasons of life and how a person can grow from times of grief and the period of fulfillment afterwards compared to Spring. But I have been learning all this through Persephone, more than her mother. And yet people often talk about grief in classical context through Demeter.
Am I missing something?
I will reiterate that in her own origin myth, Persephone had almost nothing to say. And nobody knows what actually happened in the Eleusinian mysteries. Only that they were the most popular mysteries in the ancient world and when people reached the end of it, they had a rejuvenated appreciation for life and they no longer feared death. ALMOST LIKE the rebirth after a long period of grief.
What if… the Eleusinian mysteries are Persephone’s voice? What if all the grief her mother went through somehow had to do with her and what she is in charge of as a goddess?
In the passage above, it says:
“…a budding feeling stirs. Perhaps the woman notices what a beautiful blue the sky is. Or she is touched by someone’s compassion…Emotionally, there are small signs of spring.”
This whole passage feels like that first drop of water after wandering through the desert. Relief. Life.
I just keep coming back to the fact that I learned about the cycle of grief and healing from Persephone, not Demeter. What if that means, since she is a goddess of life and death, that her influence extends to the cycle of grief?
And then in the mysteries, people NO LONGER FEAR DEATH. Demeter, in the end, no longer feared death. I mean Persephone was a goddess by the end, even though it was her mom that brought spring back? And yet she is connected to the cycle of grief and spring, which her mother got ALL THE CREDIT FOR?
She has all this stuff associated with her, and yet nowhere in her origin myth does it say she had anything to do with it. She is voiceless, even in her own domain (in the mainstream, at least)!
That bring me to two conclusions: one, maybe passivity is part of Persephone’s power. Maybe she is a subtle force, more a guide than a bombastic force of power. And two, those mysteries have information that can fill in some of the holes I’m finding 🧐

I said before that Persephone’s section shows her as a very passive figure who does whatever the largest personality/force in the room does.
Was I… blind?
I’ll just leave these here

Repetition✨️
What's it?
A way to discern the fallacy
Or a persisting scar
Attended with redundant attention
To waste time
As a punishment
For the fallacy commited?

“Marilyn had a never-ending thirst for knowledge and self-improvement. She loved poetry and music and was instinctively drawn to culture, to all the arts, but money and power were not to be gained by coercion; especially not when applied to Marilyn. She would flit off like a butterfly. I remember her saying. ‘If they aren't going to be fair and nice, I can always leave. I can get by on very little. After all, I've done it before.’”

Gratitude🖤
❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
I was elated,
Out of the world
Still grounded,
When the strange familiarity,
Unexpected but still longed for
Allured me -
Once again
When I caught him in you,
Unaware,
Not necessarily him though
Yet again
And I still knew;
Couldn't bridle this feel though
Lingering
Within me
In its entirety,
In the depths of my soul
So dark and never traversed
Holding the roots
Of the tree
Standing all tall
Bearing proudly
The saccharine fruits of
Waiting
Ripening into a blissful longing,
Turning bright red
Protractedly
With deliberation
In anticipation
Of fullness of time
Speculating
His enterprise,
Though not him
Yet grateful to the
Masquerade
or Pasquinade is it,
For accentuating the tree
Standing all tall
Glorious and thriving,
Serene,
No greed,
In the sentient, dark depths of my soul
To be traversed.
