Thee's probably no way of getting around this since our society is set up to have a whole class of people who spend their entire work life coining ideas and concepts while most other classes spend the majority of their time working on other things, but sometimes I wish the latter weren't awkwardly "downstream" as it were of the former. Everyone wants tools to to manipulate and frameworks to interpret, but when all of us (including myself. I am constantly embarrassed to frequently realize that this applies to me) use a snappy phrase appropriated out of some decades old academic monograph to hamfistedly describe a related or unrelated phenomenon, it feels like using a microscope as a hammer. And also a lot of people don't bother to look up tutorials or manuals for the microscope.

so far my only impression of David Foster Wallace is that being abandoned at birth by his biological parents to be adopted by some working class randos would have potentially saved him and also improved his writing

Garbage disposals are pretty distinctly United States thing. We could be obnoxious and patriotic about those

Did anyone ever like attempt to document and compile the variations of Barney the dinosaur murder ballads across the elementary school system in the early 2000s. Like legit it has always fascinated me as a phenomena and I would love to know if there were like traceable regional variations or what.

i actually think its incredibly funny that people can just log on to the internet and get in a fight with a guy in another country. what a privileged time we live in. you used to have to go to war to do that

My adult life has either been spent in heterosexual male environments or chill gay ones. In the male environments, if they suspect you got some kind of malaise they're like "Okay we're gonna help you out. We're gonna do some coke, we're gonna set you up with different ethnicities of bitches, we're gonna go fishing but really we're gonna drink. Got that, so clear your calendar this weekend," and then nome of that happens. Gay people are like "what are your self-care routines like :)" and then they give you a clipping from one of their (non-edible) plants

"What made you decide to become a cog in the mass-scale slaughter and rapine engine?" "Well, the engine is always recruiting and I didn't want to deal with making a resume"

Join my voting block for the Hugo's so that we might crush the petty-bourgeois "cozy" writers and uphold Internet Leninist thought

The Traitor Baru Cormorant was about as well-written as Legends and Lattes, and they're both pretty creative writing-workshoppy. I don't like how many of these arguments over book and games are little proxy arguments between the "can't win an election" and "can't firebomb a walmart" wings of the Democratic party. Here's a link to 334 by Thomas M. Disch, death to those who are cinematically incorrect, etc etc
