Toxic Marriage AU

AU where OG!Yin Hanjiang marries Jun Wu and they both end up killing the former pantheon of gods and establishing a new one.

However, they cannot stand each other. Unfortunately, they both need each other and have to remain married. Yin Hanjiang thinks Wenren E is dead and Jun Wu feels too betrayed by Mei Nianqing to go find him.

Baili Qingmiao is an unwilling spectator to this, having helped with overthrowing the former pantheon. She's worked out her differences with Yin Hanjiang somewhat. She basically is unable to fully access her primordial nature because of He Wenzhao's actions and is now just the goddess of disasters. Yin Hanjiang is both the Fire Master and the Heavenly Empress. Jun Wu is still the Heavenly Emperor.

Xianle still falls because it would have done so regardless but Jun Wu didn't have a hand in it because Yin Hanjiang stopped him. The BlackWater Arc never ends up happening because Yin Hanjiang just went and killed the Reverend of Empty Words and gained the Shi siblings' undying loyalty.

Wenren E also comes back as a calamity, powered by his love for Yin Hanjiang and his hatred towards Jun Wu. He didn't even need the Kiln. He basically become's Yin Hanjiang's most devoted believer, but never prays to him because he doesn't want Yin Hanjiang to know it's him.

This marriage might be dysfunctional but both of them strive not to let it affect how they treat the people around them (cough Jiang Parents cough cough). They do get along decently well sometimes.

Also this will end up with Werenjiang and Junmei romantically together since Yin Hanjiang makes Wenren E his concubine and Jun Wu does the same with Mei Nianqing.

inej would have rooted out the sleight of hand required to perform the trick of a ring appearing seemingly out of nowhere. she spent every minute of questioning and practicing and deceiving her own eyes in the mirror thinking of how kaz would’ve had to do this as a boy.

when it was time, inej would ask kaz if he fancied a magic trick. she’d do the trick and hold the ring out and offer a steady hand of truth with it. no con, not this time, not ever.

and for the first time since kaz was a boy, he would’ve felt captivated by the magic. the curiosity, the enthrallment, the itch to make the magic his own.

but the magic wasn’t in the trick. rather, it was in the girl before him. all infatuated brown eyes and warmth. all goodness and hope.

and so kaz let’s himself say yes, he lets himself feel like magic is more than deception.

and jesper? well jesper would take more than a firm glare from kaz to stop boasting to everyone they knew about how he fabrikated the ring.

inej would roll her eyes fondly, and kaz would never let him know that he’d never felt more like a brother to him.

and when he asks jesper to be his best man, he all but blows the roof off the slat.
