Test Print for next month's Print of the Month
I started off with a 10 year old sketch.
The movie came out 90 years ago on March 2 and I’m kicking myself for not remembering to do this last month! (Better set a calendar reminder for the 100th anniversary)
Here's a video of the whole process from sketch to Artist's Proof

Working on a submission to the The Literary's Tiny Art Show. One of my favorite books is The Once and Future King. Hoping this painting works out 🤞🤞

Lenten drawings from last week. Still mostly sticking to landscape and wildlife drawings. I copied a demon from an etching by Martin Schongauer and an icon of King Melchizedek (say THAT five times fast) because he was mentioned in the Daily Office that day. Originally I planned on only making one drawing a day, but I cheated and redid one this week

I’m excited to finally reveal this print I’ve been working on for my wife's birthday. Traci encourages me to get outside and investigate the natural world.
I made this little print of a Matsutake mushroom for her after reading The Mushroom at the End of the World. The matsutake was the first plant to return after the atomic bomb. (It sounds like a cliché from Jurassic Park, but “life finds a way”)
I learned a lot on this print! I mix up a custom brown ink and used Kozo paper from Art Coop.
I also taught myself to do a float mount when I framed it.

I haven’t really done anything for Lent in years. This year I’ve been making drawings of the Judean Desert. Here’s the ones I made last week.

I’ve been working on this print since mid-January. I tried various techniques to broaden my horizons, but none seem to have worked out. So in the end, I went back to a simple black print on toned mulberry paper.

I read The Sword in the Stone to the kids.
After reading some other books, the kids asked if we could read the rest of The Once and Future King. I warned them that it was darker than The Sword in the Stone, but they still wanted to read it.
We’ve reached the part where Sir Grummore and Sir Palomides try to cheer up King Pellinore by making a fake Questing Beast. So one of the kids drew the hijinks
