Soloists
And with this post, we have arrived at the end of this blog. NOTE: I will list artists who are NOT part of any group at the moment. With that being said, artists like MAMAMOO's Hwasa or EXO's Baekhyun won't be on the list.
Sunmi

Sunmi is a soloist under MakeUs Entertainment. She was part of the iconic girl group Wonder Girls under JYP Entertainment. They debuted in 2007 and disbanded in 2017. Sunmi debuted solo in 2014 with the song called "Full Moon".
After the disbandment of Wonder Girls, Sunmi left JYP and joined MakeUs Entertainment. Her 2017 comeback with "Gashina" was one of the most iconic things. "Gashina" quickly became one of the biggest hits, and she won numerous awards with it.
I first saw Sunmi at the 2017 MAMA awards when she performed "Gashina" with Taemin, and I was immediately drawn to her. Ever since then, she is my favorite solo artist.
Chungha

Chungha is a soloist under MNH Entertainment. She was part of the project girl group I.O.I under YMC Entertainment and CJ E&M. They debuted in 2016 and disbanded in 2017. Chungha debuted solo in 2017 with the song called "Why Don’t You Know".
Queen (Kim) Chungha is one of the biggest surprises of the K-Pop industry. After I.O.I disbanded, most of the members were getting ready to debut in new a group, but MNH announced that Chungha would debut as a solo artist. A lot of people had doubts and said that she isn't good enough to do it on her own. Damn, they were wrong. As of now, she is one of the most famous solo artists in South Korea and keeps breaking records with every single one of her comebacks.
Jessi

Jessi is a soloist under P Nation. She debuted as a soloist in 2005 under YMC Entertainment with the song called “Get Up”.
Jessi is the perfect example that you should never give up. This girl has been in the business for over 10 years, but she never had that big breakout up until this year. Jessi was born in the US and only moved to Korea when she was 15. She has darker skin than most Koreans, so she was a target of racism and discrimination a lot of times. YMC Entertainment never knew how to promote her right, but thankfully she left them in 2019 and joined PSY's company where she finally got her opportunity to shine. Her song "NUNU NANA" is one of the biggest hits this year and hasn't left the Melon Top 10 chart since it was released back in July.
HyunA

HyunA is a soloist under P Nation. She was part of the iconic girl group 4Minute under Cube Entertainment. They debuted in 2009 and disbanded in 2016. HyunA debuted solo in 2010 with the song called "Change".
After the disbandment of 4Minute, the Queen of breaking stereotypes, HyunA stayed with Cube Entertainment. Everything was ok until 2018, when it was confirmed that she, and fellow Cube mate, Edawn has been dating since 2016, which was against the company's rules. They both got kicked out of Cube and signed with P Nation. They both have been releasing music and living their lives happily ever after. In final conclusion, fuck Cube. Idols are humans too.
IU

IU is a soloist under EDAM Entertainment. She debuted as a soloist in 2008 under LOEN Entertainment with the song called “Good Day”.
IU aka the Nation’s Singer and Actress.
Hyolyn
Hyolyn is a soloist under her own company, Brid3. She was part of the iconic girl group SISTAR under Starship Entertainment. They debuted in 2010 and disbanded in 2017. Hyolyn debuted solo in 2013 with the song called "One Way Love".
CL
CL is a soloist under her own company, Very Cherry. She was part of the iconic girl group 2NE1 under YG Entertainment. They debuted in 2009 and disbanded in 2016. CL debuted solo in 2013 with the song called "The Baddest Female".
CL, the one and only baddest female. Or as she said in “HWA”: C to the L, the Godmother of Korean Culture.
The most iconic woman in Korean music. I hate YG so much for holding her back for years. Thank God, she's free now and I can't wait for her debut album.
SOMI

Somi is a soloist under The Black Label. She was part of the project girl group I.O.I under YMC Entertainment and CJ E&M. They debuted in 2016 and disbanded in 2017. Somi debuted solo in 2019 with the song called "Birthday".
Somi was supposed to debut with ITZY in early 2019, but she left JYP Entertainment in 2018 and joined YG's sublabel The Black Label to debut solo. One of the biggest mistakes in K-Pop? At first, I thought yes. I didn't think she had what it takes to be a soloist but after her first comeback this year she convinced me that she's gonna be a big star very soon.
AleXa

AleXa is a soloist under ZB Label. She debuted as a soloist in 2019 with the song called “BOMB”.
Ailee

Ailee is a soloist under her own label Rocket3 Entertainment. She debuted as a soloist in 2012 under YMC Entertainment with the song called “Heaven”.
NATTY
NATTY is a soloist under Swing Entertainment. She debuted as a soloist in 2020 with the song called “NINETEEN”.
Lee Hi

Lee Hi is a soloist under AOMG. She debuted as a soloist in 2012 under YG Entertainment with the song called “1, 2, 3, 4”.
Another perfect example of "YG wasting talent". Thank God, she's in the perfect place now at Jay Park's label.
Yezi

Yezi is a soloist under JG Star Entertainment. She was part of the girl group FIESTAR under LOEN Entertainment. They debuted in 2012 and disbanded in 2018. Yezi debuted solo in 2016 with the song called "Cider".
Youha

Youha is a soloist under Universal Music Korea. She debuted as a soloist in 2020 with the song called “Island”.
We got another example of ”YG wasting talent" at the end. Youha was part of “Future 2NE1″. They were introduced back in 2012 by YG, but never got the chance to debut. She left YG last year and debuted solo this year under Universal Music.
------
Wow, girl power at its finest. Actually, I love male artists like Baekhyun or Taemin, but since they are still part of some groups, I didn't list them here.
-----
Thank you for reading my blog! I hope you enjoyed this little K-Pop journey. And don't forget, K-Pop = life, talent, and never-ending content. Bye-bye!

Girl Groups #2
TWICE

TWICE is a 9 member girl group under JYP Entertainment. The group consists of Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung and Tzuyu. They debuted in 2015 with the song called “ Like OOH-AHH”.
TWICE was one of the first Korean girl group I ever got into. For almost 4 years they were doing cute concepts which I usually hate, but when I listened to their songs I felt so energized and I really fell in love with the cuteness. Since 2019, they are doing more mature concepts, but I still love them the same as I did before.
Red Velvet

Red Velvet is a 5 member girl group under SM Entertainment. The group currently consists of Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, Joy and Yeri. They debuted in 2014 with the song called “Happiness”.
Red Velvet was the first-ever Korean girl group I got into. I first saw them at MAMA back in 2017 where they performed "Peek-A-Boo", which is still my favorite song of theirs.
Red Velvet debuted as a four-member group, but Yeri was added during their first comeback.
After their "Bad Boy" comeback in early 2018, I started to drift away from them but came back quickly when "Psycho" was released.
Unfortunately, one of the members, Wendy, had a very bad injury last December when she fell off from the stage. Her injuries included a pelvic fracture, a broken wrist, and a cracked cheekbone, all on the right side of her body. Ever since then RV didn't have a comeback, Irene and Seulgi debuted as a duo, Yeri has been modeling and Joy had acting jobs and was featured on some songs.
WJSN

WJSN (Cosmic Girls) is a 13 member girl group under Starship Entertainment. The group consists of Exy, Seola, Xuan Yi, Bona, Soobin, Luda, Dawon, Eunseo, Cheng Xiao, Mei Qi, Yeoreum, Dayoung and Yeonjung. They debuted in 2016 with two songs called “Mo Mo Mo” and ”Catch Me”.
I fell in love with WJSN because they have the most inspiring lyrics ever. Listening to their songs gives me courage and strength.
Since 2018 WJSN has been promoting as a 10 member group. The three Chinese members went back to China. Cheng Xiao was a mentor of a survival show and now she's acting, while Xuan Yi and Mei Qi joined a survival show, and were in a Chinese group for 2 years. As of now, it seems like unfortunately, they won't come back to the group.
PRISTIN

Pristin was a 10 member girl group under Pledis Entertainment. The group consisted of Nayoung, Roa, Yuha, Eunwoo, Rena, Kyulkyung, Yehana, Sungyeon, Xiyeon, and Kyla. They debuted in 2017 with the song called “WEE WOO”. They disbanded on May 24, 2019.
PRISTIN is the perfect example of when a company ruins a group's carrier. PRISTIN's 2017 debut was surrounded with high expectations. The group had two former IOI members, so everyone paid attention to them. They won every rookie of the year award, but their youngest member, Kyla was fat-shamed by Knetz so she went back to the US at the end of 2017. After that, Pledis debuted a sub-unit called Pristin V in May, 2018 but then forgot about them. Their disbandment was a big shock and heartbreak for me.
HINAPIA
HINAPIA was a 5 member girl group under OSR Entertainment. The group consisted of Minkyeung, Gyeongwon, Eunwoo, Yaebin and Bada. They debuted in 2019 with the song called “DRIP”. They disbanded on August 21, 2020.
I was very excited when I heard that four former PRISTIN members will debut together again under the name HINAPIA, plus one new member will also join them. Unfortunately, because of COVID-19, their company went bankrupt so the girls didn't renew their contracts and the group disbanded 10 months after their debut.
Weki Meki

Weki Meki is an 8 member girl group under Fantagio. The group consists of Suyeon, Elly, Yoojung, Doyeon, Sei, Lua, Rina, and Lucy. They debuted in 2017 with the song called “I don't like your Girlfriend”.
Girls’ Generation

Girls’ Generation (SNSD) is an 8 member girl group under SM Entertainment. The group currently consists of Taeyeon, Yuri, Hyoyeon, Sunny, Yoona, Tiffany, Sooyoung, and Seohyun. They debuted in 2007 with the song called “Into The New World”.
Tiffany, Sooyoung, and Seohyun left S.M. Entertainment on the 9th of October, 2017 but for now, their departure from SNSD wasn’t confirmed.
SNSD aka the Nation’s Girl Group.
LOONA

LOONA is a 12 member girl group under Blockberry Creative. The group consists of Haseul, Vivi, Yves, JinSoul, Kim Lip, Chuu, Heejin, Hyunjin, Go Won, Choerry, Olivia Hye and Yeojin. They debuted in 2018 with the song called “Hi High”.
Cherry Bullet

Cherry Bullet is a 7 member girl group under FNC Entertainment. The group currently consists of Haeyoon, Yuju, Bora, Jiwon, Remi, Chaerin, and May. They debuted in 2019 with the song called “Q&A”.
Rocket Punch

Rocket Punch is a 6 member girl group under Woolim Entertainment. The group consists of Juri, Yeonhee, Suyun, Yunkyoung, Sohee and Dahyun. They debuted in 2019 with the song called “Bim Bam Bum”.
BVNDIT

BVNDIT is a 5 member girl group under MNH Entertainment. The group consists of Yiyeon, Songhee, Jungwoo, Simyeong and Seungeun. They debuted in 2019 with the song called “Hocus Pocus”.
GFRIEND

GFRIEND is a 6 member girl group under Source Music. The group consists of Sowon, Yerin, Eunha, Yuju, SinB, and Umji. They debuted in 2015 with the song called “Glass Bead”.
STAYC

STAYC is a 6 member girl group under High Up Entertainment. The group consists of Sumin, Sieun, Isa, Seeun, Yoon, and J. They debuted in 2020 with the song called “So Bad”.
Purple Beck

Purple Beck is a 5 member girl group under Majesty Entertainment. The group consists of Yeowool, Yerim, Layeon, Mini, and Seyeon. They debuted in 2019 with the song called “Crystal Ball”.
CRAXY
CRAXY is a 5 member girl group under S.A ITAINMENT. The group consists of Woo-Ah, Karin, Hyejin, Swan and ChaeY. They debuted in 2020 with the song called “ARIA”.
aespa

aespa is a 4 member girl group under SM Entertainment. The group consists of Karina, Giselle, Winter and NingNing. They will debut on November 17, 2020 with the song called “Black Mamba“.
Failure or success with this whole AI thing? I guess we will see it in a couple of days. As for now, I'm not really into the idea.

Girl Groups #1
I am a BIG girl group stan, so get ready for 2 long posts.
BLACKPINK

BLACKPINK is a 4 member girl group under YG Entertainment. The group consists of Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa. They debuted in 2016 with the song called “Boombayah”.
BLACKPINK is currently the biggest girl group in the world. Unfortunately, no one told this to their record label. Ever since 2016, these girls have been mistreated by YG Entertainment. From 2016 until 2019 they only had 13 original songs. A little bit few for the biggest girl group, isn't it? If this wouldn't be enough their beloved boss gambled all the money they earned during their world tour. On the 2nd of October, they finally released their first full lenght album, but even that only has 8 songs.
I feel so sorry for these girls, not only because they are my favorite girl group but also because I always think about the fact that if they would have debuted at a different company their lives would be so much easier.
(G)I-DLE

(G)I-DLE is a 6 member girl group under Cube Entertainment. The group consists of Soyeon, Miyeon, Minnie, Soojin, Yuqi and Shuhua. They debuted in 2018 with the song called “LATATA”.
My beloved I-DLE has a very big place in my heart. Why? Because I got into K-Pop in 2018 and they were the very first group whom I ever stanned from debut. Not many K-Pop artists can say that they are making their own music but I-DLE can. Their leader, Soyeon is a multitalented Queen. She writes AND composes all of their songs while she is one of the best rappers in K-Pop today. They were called monster rookies for a reason back in 2018.
EVERGLOW

EVERGLOW is a 6 member girl group under Yuehua Entertainment. The group consists of E:U, Sihyeon, Mia, Onda, Aisha and Yiren. They debuted in 2019 with the song called “Bon Bon Chocolate”.
Talking about being monster rookies. Everglow is another perfect example of that. These girls went strong from debut. I remember when I first heard Bon Bon Chocolate I was amazed immediately. They quickly became one of my favorite girl groups and they haven't disappointed me ever since then.
MAMAMOO

MAMAMOO is a 4 member girl group under RBW Entertainment. The group consists of Solar, Moonbyul, Wheein, and Hwasa. They debuted in 2014 with the song called “Mr. Ambiguous”.
If you're looking for the best live vocals in music then you're at the right place. These girls could sing down the stars from the sky if that would be possible. Other then that, they are breaking stereotypical prejudgments in South Korea day by day. They are not afraid to speak their minds and show who they truly are. They have all my respect.
IZ*ONE

IZ*ONE is a 12 member Korean-Japanese girl group formed by Mnet’s survival show Produce48. The group consists of Jang Wonyoung, Miyawaki Sakura, Jo Yuri, Choi Yena, Ahn Yujin, Yabuki Nako, Kwon Eunbi, Kang Hyewon, Honda Hitomi, Kim Chaewon, Kim Minjoo, and Lee Chaeyeon. They debuted in 2018 with the song called “ La Vie En Rose”.
Unfortunately, since IZ*ONE is only a temporary group, they will disband after 2 years and 6 months, and the members will return to their companies to join groups, form new ones, or debut solo.
ITZY

ITZY is a 5 member girl group under JYP Entertainment. The group consists of Yeji, Lia, Ryujin, Chaeryeong and Yuna. They debuted in 2019 with the song called “DALLA DALLA”.
Female monster rookies of 2019. They won every big rookie award last year.
Dreamcatcher

Dreamcatcher is a 7 member girl group under Dreamcatcher Company. The group consists of JiU, SuA, Siyeon, Handong, Yoohyeon, Dami, and Gahyeon. They debuted in 2017 with the song called “Chase Me”.
CLC

CLC is a 7 member girl group under Cube Entertainment. The group currently consists of Seungyeon, Seunghee, Yujin, Sorn, Yeeun, Elkie, and Eunbin. They debuted in 2015 with the song called “Pepe”.
Apink

Apink is a 6 member girl group under Play M Entertainment. The group currently consists of Chorong, Bomi, Eunji, Naeun, Namjoo and Hayoung. They debuted in 2011 with the song called “I Don't Know”.
April

April is a 6 member girl group under DSP Media. The group currently consists of Chaekyung, Chaewon, Naeun, Yena, Rachel, and Jinsol. They debuted in 2015 with the song called “Dream Candy”.
Secret Number

Secret Number is a 5 member girl group under VINE Entertainment. The group consists of Léa, Dita, Jinny, Soodam and Denise. They debuted in 2020 with the song called “Who Dis?”.
Although I put them now to the last place here, I believe that they will be one of my favorite girl group soon.

Boy Groups #2
NCT

NCT is a boy group under SM Entertainment. They have a unique concept because the band has an unlimited number of members. Currently, NCT has 23 members. They are divided into -as of now- three fixed and one rotational unit.
The fixed units are NCT 127 (Taeil, Johnny, Taeyong, Doyoung, Yuta, Jaehyun, Win Win, Jungwoo, Mark, and Haechan), NCT Dream (Mark, Renjun, Jeno, Haechan, Chenle, Jisung, and Jaemin), and Chinese unit WayV (Kun, Ten, WinWin, Lucas, Xiao Jun, Hendery, and YangYang). NCT U is a rotational unit which means that the members are always changing according to who fits the current concept the best.
NCT 2020 is about to make its debut on the 12th of October with two new members, Shotaro and Sungchan.
TXT

TXT, also known as TOMORROW X TOGETHER is a 5 member boy group under BigHit Entertainment. The group consists of Soobin, Yeonjun, Beomgyu, Taehyun and Huening Kai. They debuted in 2019 with the song called “Crown”.
When BigHit Entertainment announced in early 2019 that they will debut a new boy group the whole world paid attention to them because it was their first time debuting a new group since BTS.
A lot of people called TXT privileged even before they officially debuted and labeled them as "BTS's little brothers". Of course, at first most of the people watched their music video and bought their album because they were from the same label as BTS but it's making me sad that even after over a year since their debut some people just ignore how talented these boys are and overlook their talent.
Seventeen

Seventeen is a 13 member boy group under Pledis Entertainment. The group consists of S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Mingyu, The8, Seungkwan, Vernon and Dino. They debuted in 2015 with the song called “Adore U”.
The group has three units: the Hip-Hop Unit, the Vocal Unit, and the Performance Unit. According to these units they are releasing songs and performing at concerts for special stages.
Honorable Mentions
EXO

EXO is a 9 member boy group under SM Entertainment. The group currently consists of Suho, Xiumin, Lay, Baekhyun, Chen, Chanyeol, D.O., Kai, and Sehun. They debuted in 2012 with the song called “Growl”.
Stray Kids

Stray Kids is an 8 member boy group under JYP Entertainment. The group currently consists of Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin, and I.N. They debuted in 2018 with the song called “Disrict 9”.
BigBang

BigBang is a 4 member boy group under YG Entertainment. The group currently consists of G-Dragon, T.O.P, Taeyang, and Daesung. They debuted in 2006 with the song called “We Belong Together”.
TREASURE
TREASURE is a 12 member boy group under YG Entertainment. The group currently consists of Hyunsuk, Jihoon, Yoshi, Junkyu, Mashiho, Jaehyuk, Asahi, Yedam, Haruto, Doyoung, Jeongwoo, and Junghwan. They debuted in 2020 with the song called “BOY”.

Boy Groups #1
BTS

BTS is a 7 member boy group under BigHit Entertainment. The group consists of RM, Jin, SUGA, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook. They debuted in 2013 with the song called "No More Dreams".
They became famous worldwide in 2017 when they became the first-ever South Korean group to win a Billboard Music Awards. Ever since then they broke numerous records in the music world, like the record for having three number-one albums on the Billboard Charts within a year which was previously held by The Beatles. Also, they were the first South Korean group to perform at the Grammy awards and the first all South Korean group to be placed in the first place at the Billboard Hot 100 chart (now for even 2 weeks in a row). It is estimated that BTS generates around 5.5 Trillion Won (1.36 trillion Hungarian forint) per Year to the South Korean economy.
They are my favorite boy band and I had the luck to already see them perform twice at concerts.
GOT7

GOT7 is a 7 member boy group under JYP Entertainment. The group consists of JB, Mark, Jackson, Jinyoung, Youngjae, BamBam, and Yugyeom. They debuted in 2014 with the song called "Girls Girls Girls".
I found out about GOT7 back in early 2018 because I watched a Chinese survival show where one of the members, Jackson was one of the judges and I liked his personality so I wanted to know more about him and found his group GOT7.
GOT7 is a multitalented group. Members can rap, sing, compose, and even do martial arts. They always try out new concepts and explore new music genres.
SuperM

SuperM is a 7 member project boy group under SM Entertainment. The group consists of SHINee's Taemin, EXO's Baekhyun and Kai, NCT's Taeyong and Mark, and WayV's Ten and Lucas. They debuted in 2019 with the song called "Jopping".
A lot of fans were furious when SM Entertainment and American label Capitol Records announced that together they will make a "K-pop Super Boy Band" which will consist of 7 members from various SM groups. Fans were angry (and a lot of them are still angry to this day) because in their opinion all SM did was that they got the most popular members out of each group and put them together to make more money while overworking the boys.
For me, they are one of my favorite groups. You can call me biased because most of the members are my favorites in their original groups too but I guess that was the main plan of SM too and it worked perfectly in my case.
The only thing that I dislike is how all of the members are overworked. Taeyong and Mark didn't have a rest since May 2019. They were touring with NCT 127 then promoted with SuperM, then went back to tour again with NCT 127, then went on a tour with SuperM while working on two NCT 127 albums and the SuperM album. Taemin's solo album got pushed back many times and now that it's out SM does nothing to promote it when he even had to shoot the music video of one of the songs in Paris after a SuperM concert. Kai's solo project got pushed back at this point at least 3 times and it's still not out this day. Ten and Lucas have been going back and forth between WayV and SuperM endlessly without a break.
A lot of people are hating on them on Twitter all the time, even trending things like "supermdisbandparty" etc. I think that even if you don't like a group you shouldn't disrespect their work. The boys are working hard on all the SuperM stuff while they are still doing their businesses with their own groups nonstop so they deserve nothing but respect (and a well-deserved break but of course we know that SM loves to overwork their idols so that won't happen anytime soon).
