Hello everyone! Today, I am going to talk about the last task of Material Design in ELT course. Creating a WebQuest. A WebQuest is an inquiry-oriented lesson format in which most or all the information that learners work with comes from the web. These can be created using various programs, including a simple word processing document that includes links to websites. (Wikipedia) For this task, I worked with Ezgi, and we were supposed to use the preparatory class coursebook that we used in the previous tasks. We chose a topic from the coursebook and turned it into a research-based project. To create our WebQuest, we used Questgarden.
In the WebQuest, we firstly gave a “Creating a Poster” activity about one of the seven wonders of the world the students will choose and in the second part we asked students to do a presentation about it. We gave clear instructions for students to understand and gave samples.

Hi everyone! We are together again after a short time. For this week, we were supposed to create a material by using augmented reality. Firstly, let’s talk about augmented reality. AR(Augmented Reality) technologies are used to make and see things in front of us. It is the technologically augmented presentation of the real world which is created by using through the use of digital visual elements, music, or other sensory stimulation. For this task, we were supposed to choose a city abroad and guide students to explore it. My friend Ezgi and I chose Prague. It is a city where i always want to see. We want our students to see some part of the Prague via Augmented Reality. We use 360 videos for our students to watch and explore Prague. For our task, we use canva to create our materials. We add qr codes on our worksheet so that students can scan them and watch the videos we uploaded. Thank you for sparing your time, see you soon! <3

Creating Flipped Grammar Videos
Hello everyone! It’s been a long time since my last post.
For our assignment, we’ve prepared a grammar teaching video for a flipped EFL classroom. Ezgi and i became a team for this task and we decided to chose If clauses topic. In this project, our audience was high school preparatory classroom students with an elementary level of English.
Flipped videos are videos that are created by teachers for students to watch and follow the classes without going to school. Students will learn subjects at home by watching videos and do more exercises at school with their teachers. With this way, students are able to study the subject in any time and anywhere they want and the time in the classroom will be filled with more useful exercises.
We used animaker to create the video. It is a totally new app for me so, i had hard times when I tried to create the video and had some trouble with voice recording because of my microphone.

CORPUS-BASED TEACHING MATERIALS
Hello everyone, welcome to my blog page again!
In this post, I will talk about our first work of Material Design course. I created our material with my friend Ezgi. This week, we were supposed to create a corpus based language awareness task. For this task, we try to make our students comprehend the use of “between and among”. It is a complicated subject for many students, but with the help of corpus use, we hope that our students will be able to grasp it easily. The term Corpus (or Corpora - plural) means the source based on collections of written texts where real-life language is used. Combining them, we tried to raise language awareness.
In the work, we asked our students to search on skell and look at examples so that they comprehend the difference between the words among and between easily. We asked them to fill in the gaps so that they can practice what they learned and write their own sentences. For the design of the material, we used canva because it is easy to use and has a lot of features. With the help of this task, we understood how corpus works and how we can integrate it into our future classes.

DIGITAL TIMELINE
After a long period of time, here comes my first assignment. For this week, we are supposed to create a digital timeline. Timeline is a graphical representation of a period of time, it serves as a way of simplifying the content, and it enables us to give information in a properly labelled and visually-appealing way.
Our timeline’s topic is the history of technology in language learning. With the improvement of technology, there have been so many changes in language learning. Technological advancements bring so many changes in language education. On my timeline, I give information about this topic, and what has changed since the beginning of the 1950s.
For my assignment, I used https://www.lucidpress.com/pages/templates/infographics/timeline. It is an effective tool to create a timeline. It has so many features and worksheet samples.

THE END... Now, it is time to say goodbye after a tiring period for me... This is gonna be my last post, unfortunately. In this post, I will talk about my blogging experiences in this course. It was a demanding process for me. Until I take this course, I didn't attempt to write something on a blog or online. I was always passive situation but thanks to this course I realized that I can write and create content on my own. This term I learned so many things about technology and material designs and how to integrate them into language learning. As a future 21st century teacher, I shouldn't be old-fashioned, and I should use all the opportunities which are available for me and for my students. After I had taken this course, I realized that none of my teachers used technology in my classes and I decided that I won't be like them. I will always try to find some way to integrate technology into my language learning classes to make my students eager to learn. The tasks I did during the course gave me a point of view for my future classes. They are helpful for learning vocabulary, using the language effectively. The storytelling task is what I liked most in this course. We made a great effort for it but worth it. We created a public service announcement to raise mental health awareness. It makes people conscious about mental illnesses.

Hi my dear followers, this week we were asked to create a digital storytelling assignment. I decided to do this assignment with my friend Ezgi. There are two options given us and we decided to chose creating a public service announcement. We used adobe spark to create this video. Other tools which we can use seem a bit complicated to me so i chose the easiest one. It is a free program and you don’t have to work on it so much.
First we added some photos then some writings on them. I had some trouble when i record my sound because of my computer but there is nothing to do about it and i tried my best. Lastly, we added a background music which accords with our psa’s theme.
I think digital storytelling is a good way for language learners to use the langage they learn but it takes so many efforts and time. When i become a teacher i would give this asssignment depending on their level and how many free time they have. Thanks for keeping with me. I am preparing for a goodbye post on these days. :)

Hello dear readers, this week we are asked to create an infographic. Infographic is a graphic with info. Infographics give the information using photographs, images and visual data. They convey data using a minimal amount of language so that they are easy for learning. When you look at an infographic you don’t have to read so many things, just looking for 2 or 3 minutes is enough to take the information. When i created the infographic, I chose to use canva. I used it before on my project and i think that it is easier to use than other tools.
Infographics can be used for language learners too. Using visuals helps learners to remember vocabulary and other things easily. Hope to see u guys. :*

Hi everyone :) In this week we created a film poster based on a book we read before. I choose The Sorrows of Young Werther because in our last book review project i used that too. It is a loosely autobiographical epistolary novel by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. It affected me so much because i can’t imagine an unrequited love can be like this and it even leads someone to kill himself.
Actually when our teacher asked us to create a poster, i don’t know which site or program i can use but she recommended us some sites. I choose canva.com because it seems easy to use when i open the site. First i signed up to the site via Google and started to create a poster. I don’t know which picture i should use so i searched for it. It should be coherent with the theme of the book. Then i choose the cast. Tom Hardy is my favourite actor and i want him to be my leading actor. Anya Taylor Joy is so popular in these days that’s why i choose her.
Creating a film poster was a hard but funny experince for me. When i used canva i thought that i don’t have to be passive always and i can create some things too. When i become a teacher, i recommend these things to my students too. Take care of yourself in these days . Bye :) :*

In our 7th week of educational technologies class, we learn how to use wiki. Actually, when our teacher gave this assignment to us, I was afraid. Because I don't know how to use this site, how we assign our files. She said that you are going to review a book you can choose. At first I was a bit confused about which book I should choose but after I decided to choose The Sorrows of Young Werther because it affected me so much when I read it. First I upload the photo of the book's cover then I write the review of the book. On my page, I write a summarized plot, I rate the book on a 5-star scale and I recommended my book to my classmates. It was a nice experiment for me, I saw some websites about books on the internet and I read the reviews but I was always too lazy to do some reviews. Thanks to this assignment I have the chance to do it. You should do that too. Instead of staying passive always, you should be active from time to time. What comes to your mind when you think about the 21-st century learning?
As time goes by learning and teaching methods change like everything does. The education system has changed since the invention of technological devices.This change also has an effect on language teaching. In 21-st century communication way doesn’t have to be face to face all the time, learners and teachers can communicate via technological devices. This enables them to connect all the time.
21-st century learning is competitive. Learners have to follow all the technological developments and improve themselves all the time. Creativity is the most important skill, learners have to prove their originality. Teacher-centered class is not available anymore. Teachers are only a guide for the learners, because of that learners have to stay active and take responsibility all the time. Enough for today, hope to see you soon <3
