I just had the horrifying thought that John Gaius must have had some level of his schooling interrupted by COVID-19. Did he do kindergarten over Zoom?

This is 100% a function of my starting TLT while in NZ for a semester, but I always imagined Jod’s eyes to look like Pāua shells. Did anyone else think this?

You know the TLT brainrot is real when you start TLT-ifying gene names at work. Recently I’ve seen CAV1, NAV3, and CAMK1D pop up when I’m doing differential expression analysis. Why are the best-most-special-cavaliers-ever haunting the narrative of my research and can they stop

When I say I don't want any male doctors near me, Palamedes Sextus is the exception. He would say no it's not anxiety, correctly diagnose me and cure me while doing zero assault.

I realized that while I’ve named my giant fuckoff desktop computer that I use to run my heavy-duty programs, I also have a work laptop that has yet to be named. It’s smaller but has a respectable amount of memory and I can still code on it, but the battery life is terrible and I fear it’s physically much weaker than Camilla. If it’s not constantly connected to an outlet it starts overheating and losing its mind. Is this Pal?
I haven’t named my car but you know what I have named? My work computer. I named her Camilla (after The Camilla Hect) so I wouldn’t get mad at her when my code doesn’t run. It’s been surprisingly effective. When the computer starts to overheat and the fan is working overtime I announce to the lab, “Camilla is yelling at me,” and you know what, it’s deserved. It must be my fault.
The only problem is when people ask who she’s named after. I usually just say a book character, but I live in constant fear that someone will ask me what book. How would I ever explain the lesbian necromancers in space book to a bunch of millennial/Gen X scientists (mostly men)?

If you locked Silas Octakiseron and Naberius Tern in a room together for three hours would they
(a) fight
(b) make out
(c) fight and then make out
(d) sit in opposite corners of the room in silence and wait to either be let out or die
(e) commiserate about everyone else at Canaan House “not getting it” in a conversation that quickly turns misogynistic

Straight people and queer people who don't Love Women really do consume TLT differently
Like once I met a TLT fan in the wild and was like "Yeah Ianthe is my favorite girl, she's so nasty and deranged~~" and this girl was like "that's,,a bit much,,," and looked soooo weirded out
Like oh I'm sorry i thought this was the fandom where we appreciate fucked up and twisted women??? my bad-

This is a fascinating question! I might be going slightly off-topic here, but I work in genomics so I got really invested in the first part of your question. If I were to come up with my best possible genetic explanation for the eye color change, it would be that lyctors are akin to chimeras. This is a real thing that happens in humans- more often than you might think, and sometimes only found due to genetic testing! Genetic chimerism occurs when someone’s cells contain two different genomes. Normally we think of all the cells in one person having the exact same chromosomes with the exact same genes, but there are several different ways a person could have cells with different sets of DNA. One of these ways is through transplant, but another is when one fetus absorbs a twin in the womb. The process of lyctorhood has similarities to both of these in my opinion. What’s interesting to me is that chimerism can be limited to just certain cells- someone could have all of “their” DNA in most of their cells, but a different set of DNA just in one organ. It’s actually possible for people to have heterochromia as a result of chimerism! To me, it could follow that both eyes change color for lyctors as a result of a similar process.
I am bored and work in a medical research lab. Does anyone have any TLT science questions I can try to answer? (I will read research papers for evidence because I only know about the lungs. Lung questions welcome, too!)

Today TikTok reminded me that it’s the 2-year anniversary of me vaguely questioning the science in TLOU and someone commenting that what I was doing was the equivalent of “intellectual jerking off.” God forbid a girl have hobbies… I’m kidding, but I do think about that phrase a LOT. Whenever I wonder whether or not I can actually relate to a fictional character, I ask myself if they would be accused of intellectual jerking off, and then I have (part of) my answer.

I grew up around military bases and families, so I don’t know why I haven’t spent as much time analyzing the Second and Fourth Houses. I’ll start with this: in my experience, military kids either end up joining the military or wanting nothing to do with it as adults. Obviously we know where Judith and Marta place on that spectrum, but I think if Isaac and Jeannemary were given a little more time they’d make a different choice.
