First Layer of my new painting. Recently, I love painting cherries~~~~~~
I was told what is the best practice? Something I love to do.
This time I want to try 3 layers, add high contrast and create volume effect

I only add some details in order to mark the contrast.
This was my first layer.

First layer of my cherry blossoms.
Love using Sennelier watercolor: watercolor can be mixed so smoothly. Jest a drawback: I can only use Sennelier on 100%cotton watercolor paper……..
I think I will use more glazing than wet-on-wet technique in the future when I paint botanical items. Cherry painted with glazing seemed to be more delicate.
Let’s see

Finally, I feel comfortable with my tools i.e: I love my brushes, Sennelier water color, getting used to cold pressed paper.
Paint the chosen roses makes so much fun and provides such satisfaction.
(First approach: I will use glancing method to add more contrast to my roses)

Painted on January 17th, 2024.
I want to create better light and dark transition next time by leaving more white space.
What I did correct is using big brushes. I painted this with Raphael Kolinsky Brush Size No. 10 and Da Vinci Maestro Series 10 Size No. 8.
What I regret is using Da Vinci smaller Harpin Kolinsky small brushes, No. 4 and No. 3 too early. I should have trying longer and see how far I can go with these bigger brushes.
The challenge with big brushes is: brush control

Painted on January 14th, 2024 with Sennelier tube and pans.
IMO, using fluid watercolor is much easier than the concentrated pans – alleviate mixing process.
