Longing
I used to have beautiful white wings that soared through the sky
I would always be home, whenever I fly
Then you came along, as quiet as a mouse
You ever so slowly, plucked my feathers out
Whenever I tried to take flight
You would wrap a chain around my neck, holding me tight
I would battle you with all the strength I could muster
Until one day I realized, I would not recover
My wings are damaged from you
They are tattered, war torn, and lifeless
I try to run away, but my legs just aren’t fast enough
How do you hide from something right beside you
Now a days, I long for the endless blue sky
I see all the other free spirits touching the sunlight
Whenever I try to extend my wings to take flight
You are always right beside me whispering, “ You will never live in the sky.”

InSaNiTy or DiE
One day, four teenagers venture into the mysterious forest on the outskirts of town. As they travel deeper into the forest, they notice that they are surrounded in darkness. The moon that they used to see high in the night sky, now disappears into the thick of trees. Suddenly, a low rumble is heard from the sky. The rain starts to pour down. All the teens scramble to get under a tree. As they desperately try to stay dry, one of the teens spots something off in the distance.
“Hey guys, look up ahead!” Cathy announced, “There’s a big mansion up ahead. We should spend the night there.”
“I don’t know Cathy. That mansion looks haunted,” Elizabeth stated.
“Awww Lizzy, don’t be such a scaredy cat,” John said teasingly.
“I am not a scaredy cat!” Elizabeth pouted.
“I think we should go to the mansion,” Mark stated, “It’s better than standing out in the cold getting drenched.”
“Well either way, we need to find shelter, and soon,” John said.
“I still don’t have a good feeling about this,” Elizabeth whispered.
Nevertheless, all four teens trecked to the the front door of the ammonius looking mansion. As they approached the front porch, they had to walk up a flight of rotting wood. Each step creaked as they ascended the stairs. When they reached the front door, Mark hesitantly raised his hand to knock on the door. Before his hand touched the wood, the door started to open. Everybody glanced at one another and slowly made their way into the mansion. When everyone was inside, the door slammed shut, closing off their only way of escape. In a mad dash, the teens ran to the door trying with all their might to open the door. Sadly the door did not budge, they were stuck.
As the teens were thinking of what to do next, a cold breeze made its way through the foyer. Following the breeze was a voice that whispered, “You will be dead by morning.” Then an interior door opened, leading them further into the mansion. As everybody was about to take a step toward the door a voice stopped them.
“Wait, I don’t think we should go through that door,” Elizabeth warned.
“We don’t have a choice Elizabeth,” Mark explained, “We can’t go back out through the front door. We have to find another way to get out.”
Elizabeth released a sigh and reluctantly followed her friends. As the four teens walked down the long corridor, they realized it was getting harder to see. Soon enough they were all stumbling around in the dark trying to make it to the other side. As they approached the door, they saw a light escaping from the other side. When they opened the door, they saw various couches and chairs scattered about the room.
“How about we sleep here?” John suggested. They all agreed and went to find a comfortable spot to fall asleep in. Elizabeth saw that on the other side of the room there was a very big and fluffy couch. She made her way over to the couch. As she was about to sit down, a scream escaped her lips. John rushed over to Elizabeth’s side to see what was wrong, Mark and Cathy were not far behind.
“What happened?” John asked
“The-the couch. On the cushion,” Elizabeth stuttered out. Everyone gasped at what they saw, there was a blood red hand print on the cushion.
“Don’t worry Lizzy. It’s probably just red dye, right?” John said to try and reassure Elizabeth. As John was trying to calm Elizabeth down, something caught Mark’s eye.
“Hey guys, look at that!” Mark exclaimed, “It’s an open window. We can escape.”
“Mark, before you…….” Before Cathy could finish her sentence, Mark high tailed it toward the window.
“Mark, wait!” John screamed.
All the friends were desperately trying to catch Mark. As soon as all the teens were three feet in front of the window, the floor beneath them collapsed. Screams could be heard as all the teens fell down the pitch black hole. In a matter of minutes the teens hit the floor.
“Where are we?” Cathy asked.
“It looks like we’re in the basement of the mansion,” John answered, “We’ll have to find a way back to the main level.”
“How about we start walking.” Mark suggested. All the teens started to follow Mark. They kept walking for what seemed like hours, until Mark excitedly ran ahead of everyone.
“Look guys, it’s a mote,” Mark exclaimed, “I didn’t know these things still existed”
As Mark was peering over the edge, Elizabeth saw something from the corner of her eye. Once she processed what it was, Elizabeth screamed, “MARK! Get away from there!”
“What?” Before Mark could turn around, a crocodile grabbed his arm and pulled him over the ledge. Mark fell into the dark water below. When he resurfaced all the crocodiles started to surround him. Before anyone could react, all the crocodiles started to attack Mark. At first the crocodiles just toyed with him, just biting him here and there. Soon enough they started to dine. All that was heard was the blood curdling scream Mark produced and the thrash of water. The crocodiles torn him limb from limb. The cracking of bones echoed through the dark water. The once black water started to turn a blood red.
The screams died down, and all that was left was the snapping of jaws. All the crocodiles left after they were done with their meal. But one crocodile had something in it’s mouth and threw it up to the teens. It landed on Elizabeth’s leg.
“It’s still warm!” Elizabeth shrieked and kicked her leg up, sending the object flying back into the water.
As John and Cathy looked out into the water to see the object floating, their eyes grew wide. Floating in the water was a bloody hand. All the teens just stared at the hand, not knowing what to do now. Suddenly, they heard movement and looked behind them to see a section of the stone wall start to rise. The three teens silently trudged through the door. When the wall closed behind them, the last thing that was seen, was the hand sinking into the dark water.
When the three teens emerged from the door, they saw a buffet of food laid out on a long table. A grandfather clock stood at the other end of the room, producing a loud click every second. A giant chandelier hung above them, giving light to the room. Beneath their feet was a pure white carpet, not a speck of dirt on it. The table that could easily seat 20 people, only had 3 chairs set.
“Food! I’m starving.” Cathy exclaimed and ran over to the food.
“Cathy, it could be poisoned!” John screamed. Cathy did not hear John’s warning as she took a bite out of a chicken leg. Elizabeth and John waited for the worst. But as they watched Cathy she seemed perfectly fine. As they were sighing in relief to know that Cathy did not get poisoned, Elizabeth saw movement from her eye.
“CATHY! Run!” Elizabeth screamed.
“What?” Before Cathy could move she heard the snap of a chain. She looked up and saw the chandelier falling toward her. A scream erupted from Cathy’s throat. As soon as the scream started, it stopped. The table in front of Cathy broke under the weight of the chandelier. A dust cloud appeared from the rubble. After the dust cleared, the two teens could clearly see that the floor was no longer a pure white. The carpet was now stained blood red. The only part of Cathy that was still visible was her hand, which upon closer inspection was twitching. The two teens were frozen to the floor. They just saw two of their best friends die. There was only one question in both their heads, “Who’s next?”
The door near the grandfather clock suddenly cracked open. Almost daring them to continue forward. The two teens hurriedly walked to the door and away from their friend’s horrific death. They entered a hallway full of doors. The first door on their left opened. They cautiously entered the room, not knowing what was on the other side. As soon as they entered, both teens gasped in shock. On the far side of the room was a moveable rack full of spears, knives, and swords. On the tables there were bottles of poison. There was The Rack right next to the table, set up with ropes to tie the victim down. There were piles of stones in the corner, to be able to press the victim to death. In the center of the room, there was a big cauldron with wood underneath it. The walls were lined up with black metal chains and coffins. There was no doubt about it, they were inside a torture chamber. As the teens were about to bolt out of the room, the door shut with a click. When that happened, Elizabeth abruptly broke down crying.
“What are we going to do, John?” Elizabeth pleaded, “We are going to die in here!”
“Don’t worry Lizzy, you won’t die. I’ll make sure you get to see tomorrow,” John said with a tender voice.
Suddenly, a loud rumble was heard, making the whole room shake. The brick and mortar did not hold the walls in place. All around them chucks of the walls started to crumble. Elizabeth visibly shivered in fright and closed her eyes, waiting for her death. John saw Elizabeth’s scared expression and quickly wrapped her in his arms to protect her from falling debris. Elizabeth gasped at the sudden contact, but clutched onto John tightly. No words were spoken as both teens held onto each other. As soon as the room became quiet again, Elizabeth hesitantly looked up to come into contact with John’s sincere eyes looking back. In what was barely above a whisper, Elizabeth said, “Thank you.”
“I told you, I would protect you Lizzy,” John answered with a sincere smile on his face. As they embraced each other in a hug, John saw something coming toward Elizabeth.
“I…….,” before Elizabeth could finish her sentence, John pushed her away. As she hit the ground, she heard John howl in pain. Her head whipped around to see a gruesome sight. As she looked at where she once stood, tears started to blur her vision. John was impaled by the multiple swords, spears, and knives that was once on the other side of the room. She heard the constant drip of blood coming off the weapons.
She started to sob for all her friends that she lost that night. Her tears mixed with the already bloody floor. As she was crying her heart out, one thought entered her mind, “It’s all my fault.” Everything seemed to halt at that moment. “I could of stopped everyone from entering. All my friends wouldn’t of died. It’s my fault.” Something snapped inside Elizabeth. She started to cry hysterically. She repeatedly said, “It’s my fault. It’s my fault. It’s my fault.” Her crying turned into maniacal laughter. Elizabeth could no longer think straight. She kept sobbing and laughing, not knowing what to do. As her insanity pushed her over the edge, she bolted upright and ran straight into an open coffin. Emerging from the shadows, a hand closed the coffin door behind Elizabeth. “Welcome Elizabeth. We’ve been waiting for you,” The mistress of the mansion said. The only sound that was heard, was the psychotic laughter from the mistress.

A Vistor?
‘Crack’! I hear the sound of a tree limb breaking as the terrible storm rages on. I hear the pitter patter of rain coming down on my window; like a needle striking glass. I see my lamp flicker, and I flinch at the prospect of being alone in the dark. As though my worst fears are realized, I hear another crack of lightning and I’m staring into blackness. As the lightning illuminates my room, I yank my bed covers over my head to block out the noise that is soon to come. The thunder roars in my ears, as I whimper like an injured animal.
‘Bang’, ‘Bang’, ‘Bang’! I jump at the sound. The banging gets louder, but is then drowned out by the storm. I hear my front door swing open and violently shut. I freeze in fear when I hear footsteps echoing through my house. “My parents aren’t suppose to be home until tomorrow morning”, I think to myself. I hear the stairs squeak, as pressure is being applied to them. I jump out of bed and scramble to my closet. I hold my breath as I hear my bedroom door creak open. I cling to the bat behind me. I hear the footsteps get louder, then suddenly stop. The closet door opens and I immediately throw the bat at the intruder.
“What the heck?!” A familiar voice shouted. I snap open my eyes to see my boyfriend clutching his injured arm.
“What are you doing here? You gave me a heart attack!” I scream.
“What? I can’t just randomly visit?”
“You could’ve called me beforehand. I thought you were a robber!”
“So you thought throwing a bat at a robber, who probably has a gun, was a good idea?” He said sarcastically.
I feel my face heat up as I snap back, “Oh,shut up.” As I’m about to continue with my rant, I’m interrupted by footsteps leaving the room.
“Hey! Get back here. I’m not done yelling at you,” I scream into the hall. My only response is a melodious laugh. I smile to myself and chase after the laughter.
I see my boyfriend strolling down the stairs. I get a devious smirk on my face and start to pick up speed. As he reaches the last step, I leap from the stairs and land on his back. I start to laugh as he spins around, trying to get his bearings.
“What was that for?” He asks.
“Payback,” I say with an innocent smile.
I jump off his back, and head for the kitchen to make myself a snack. As I finish making my Nutella sandwich, I hear footsteps coming up behind me. Suddenly two arms snake around my waist.
“What are you doing?” I ask, trying to suppress a blush.
“Just holding you.”
“Don’t say it so casually!” I scream at him.
I can feel my face getting red, but I’m not sure if it’s from anger or embarrassment. As I’m dying from embarrassment, I feel the arms leave my side. A sudden cold wind hits my body and I think to myself, “Was it always this cold?” As I wrap my arms around myself, I look down at the table. As the gasp escapes my lips, I turn around hastily.
“You took my Nutella!” I scream to my boyfriend.
I see him sitting on the couch with said Nutella in hand, about to take the first bite. I stomp over to the where he’s sitting and peer down at my smug boyfriend.
“What are you doing?!” I ask impatiently.
“Eating Nutella,” He casually replies.
“Oh no you don’t,” I say, as I lunge for the Nutella.
As I got to swipe the Nutella out of his hands, I slip and get a face full of cushion. I turn around swiftly to see my boyfriend running into the hall. I scrambled up to my feet and give chase. As I’m about to grab his arm, a sharp turn comes up ahead and I ram into the wall. I stumble backwards and fall onto the floor.
“Woah, are you okay?” A panicked voice asked
I look up to see my boyfriend’s eyebrows scrunched in worry. When I open my mouth, a laugh grazed pass my lips.
“What are we doing?” I giggle softly. I no longer see worry in his eyes as he starts to laugh along with me.
Once I get back on my feet we decide to watch a movie, the Nutella long forgotten. I went to the cabinet that held all the DVDs and decided to grab the The Princess Bride. As I put the DVD in the DVD player I could hear popping come from the kitchen. A second later, a butter scent reaches my nose.
“You can’t have a movie without popcorn,” a voice said behind me.
I turn and see my boyfriend plop down on the couch with a giant bowl in his hands. When the movie started, I distinctly move closer to the warmth that sat beside me. I feel an arm wrap around me and pull me closer. Absent mindedly my hand travels toward the delicious snack. I suddenly feel the bowl move away from me.
“Nope, my popcorn,” my boyfriend says with a smirk.
“Hey! You took my Nutella earlier. I think it’s only fair if I get to have your popcorn,” I retort back.
The movie is forgotten as we start to argue back and forth. As we continue arguing, I feel a smile appear on my face. As always, our scuffle ends with us laughing. As the night draws on I feel my eyes start to droop. Before I let sleep take me I mumble one more thing.
“I had fun today.”
“Me too,” is his response.
A small smile appears on my face as the movie fades into the background.

The Rabbit Hole Stained Red
Alice fell asleep in her garden on a warm summer day. Suddenly, a furry rabbit scampered across the lawn.
“I’m late. I’m late,” the rabbit shouted as he jumped down a hole.
Alice, out of curiosity, followed the rabbit down the hole. She ended up in a magical world called Wonderland. Throughout Alice’s time in wonderland, she met a variety of animals and people. Alice met the Cheshire cat in the woods , the Madhatter at tea time, and the Queen of Hearts at her croquet game. Alice attended a trial the Queen set up to find out who stole her tarts. The one being trialed was the Knave of Hearts. Alice was flabbergasted by the King’s “evidence” about how the Knave indeed committed the crime. Alice started to grow as she became more and more upset about how the trial was being run. The cards started to attack Alice as she grew back to original height
“Alice wake up,” a distant voice calls.
Alice wakes up to see her younger sister, Sydney, calling her name.
“You were acting very weird big sis,” the five year old says.
“Sydney, you’ll never believe what happened to me,” Alice exclaims.
Alice tells her sister about the magical creatures of Wonderland and how logic did not apply there. All the while, Sydney’s eyes grow large in wonder.
“Alice, Sydney, come inside for supper!” Lorena, their elder sister calls.
Ten years later
On a sunny day in England. Sydney and Alice are tired of their constant studies, so they decide to take a nap under the shade of a tree. Sydney is startled awake when a white rabbit starts to shake her.
“OH you must help. Wonderland is in incredible chaos,” the rabbit says frantically.
“It’s you,” Alice exclaims.
“This can’t be real,” Sydney says, “rabbits don’t talk.”
Before Sydney could process what was happening, the rabbit takes both of their hands and drags them down the rabbit hole. They both land in an empty field littered with bodies.
“What happened here?” Alice asks the rabbit.
“You see Miss Alice, Wonderland is at war with the neighboring country, Masquerade Land.” The rabbit replies. All of a sudden, an explosion goes off in the distance.
“Come, we mustn’t talk here, it’s too dangerous,” the rabbit says, “I’ll bring you to the headquarters.”
Alice and Sydney follow the white rabbit through the forest and to a tree. The rabbit pulls down a branch and the center of the tree opens.
The rabbit calmly walks inside. The two sisters follow. Once they emerge from darkness, the sisters are blinded by a bright light.
“Off with their heads!” A voice yells.
“Wait, my queen, “ the rabbit explains, “this is Alice and her sister Sydney; they have come to help us.”
“Glad for you two to join us,” the Cheshire cat says.
“It’s six o’clock, “the hatter cheers, “time for tea.”
“Don’t we need to worry about  the war at hand?” Sydney says exasperated.
Her cry falls on deaf ears as everybody sits around the circular table to enjoy their tea.
“Come Sydney, let’s enjoy tea,” Alice motions to the table.
“You have got to be kidding me,” Sydney mumbles under her breath.
Once the clock struck seven o’clock, everyone threw their teacups to the floor. The somber mood returned instantly. The dormouse was the first to speak.
“It was ten years ago when you last visited wonderland, Alice. In the time you were gone, the neighboring countries’ queen died of old age and a new queen was chosen. The new queen’s name is the Black queen. The Black queen rules Masquerade Land. The residents have a special power which they will instantly transform into the mask they are wearing.“
The Cheshire cat was the next to speak, “We need you two to infiltrate Masquerade Land and assassinate the Black queen.”
“Why do we have to kill her?!” Sydney screams.
A loud bang resonates from the fist which slams down onto the mahogany table.
“I have lost too many card soldiers in this war. The Black queen must pay,” the Red queen growls.
“I will train you two to be highly dangerous,” the Knave of hearts explains, “both of you will be able to fight in hand to hand combat and will have a special weapon of choice.”
“This is crazy. I must be dreaming. Alice, do you believe this?” Sydney questions.
“The people of Wonderland are in need of our help. I think we should help stop this war,” Alice suggests.
“You’re all mad!” Sydney screams as she stalks out of the room.
Sydney ends of walking back from the way she came. She finds herself in the middle of a barren wasteland. A fire is seen off in the distance. Sydney decides to go investigate. As Sydney approaches the miniature village, she can hear cries of agony and sobs of grief.
“Halt, you are encroaching on the Wonderville property,” a guard tells Sydney, “ State your business here.”
“I have no way of going home, and I was hoping you would let me stay here in the meantime,” Sydney replies.
“We already have too many mouths to feed. Now le…”
Before the guard can finish talking, a woman approaches both of them and says,  “Nonsense, we shall not turn away a person in need. Now let the poor girl inside.”
The guard huffs in irritation, but nevertheless stands aside.
“Thank you for allowing me to stay here,” Sydney says to the woman.
“You are welcome,” the woman replies.
“Now you must be hungry. Follow me to the kitchen tent.”
“Auntie Jasmine, who’s your friend?” a young boy asks.
“Oh, Ashton, this girl was looking for a place to stay, so I let her stay here,” Jasmine explains.
“What is your name?” Ashton asks curiously.
Sydney giggles and replies, “Sydney.”
“Ashton, do you want to show Sydney around the place?” Jasmine asks.
         “Yeah,” Ashton says with excitement.
The rest of the day, Sydney is brought to various places. Sydney learns a boat load of information about Ashton. How he wants a dog named Ruffles. He wants to be a doctor when he grows up, so he can help his aunt with the sick people. How his favorite color is blue. How he misses the way the sky looks on a clear summer day. Now all he sees is a gray sky from all the explosions and gunpowder being set off.
As night approaches, everybody starts to enter into their assigned tents to go to bed.
“Come on Ashton, time for bed,” Aunt Jasmine whispers.
“But (yawn) I’m not tired (yawn),” Ashton sleepily replies.
“I’m sure you are, you had a big day of showing Sydney around,” Aunt Jasmine promptly picks Ashton up and takes him into a nearby tent. Jasmine then comes back out, and sits next to Sydney.
“Ashton really likes you,” Jasmine says to Sydney. “I haven’t seen him smile that wide in months.”
“He’s a cute child,” Sydney replies. “He wants to make a better future for this town.”
“I wish we had more people like that in the world,” Jasmine says, “Well, I better start a fire. The temperature drops dramatically at night.”
“Wait, you have done so much for me, let me go collect firewood. You can go to sleep early,” Sydney suggests.
“I couldn’t let you do that; you’re our guest,” Jasmine retorts.
“I insist,” Sydney says as she walks toward the woods.
Jasmine has a hint of a smile on her face as she disappears into a tent.
As Sydney is walking through the forest, she hears a low flapping sound. The noise starts to increase in volume. She looks above her head to see at least 100 sparrows flying through the night sky. Out of curiosity, Sydney follows the giant flock. As Sydney reaches the entrance to the woods, she can see the flock hovering above Jasmine’s town.
Suddenly, all of the sparrows transforms into soldiers covered in black armor, and they start shooting the multiple tents. Sydney’s eyes grow large, and she pumps her legs as fast as she can to arrive back to the town.
As she is about to enter the town, a wildfire starts to ravage the place. An explosive is set off, which flings her backward. She watches in horror as the town is engulfed in flames; while the people scream in agony. Sydney tries to enter the town, but a magical barrier is blocking the entrance, so nobody can go in or out. Through all the smoke, Sydney can see a tiny figure crawling toward the entrance. A miniscule burnt hand reaches out toward Sydney; before falling lifeless. Sydney starts to bang furiously on the barrier.
“LET ME IN!” Sydney screams. “LET ME IN! LET ME IN! LET ME…” she does not finish her sentence as she falls onto her knees into a puddle of tears.
“I am so sorry,” Sydney whispers into the night.
The next morning, Sydney has her resolve to stop this war, and end the Black queen’s reign of terror.
“Which tree was it?” Sydney says, as she tries to find her way back to headquarters.
Suddenly, a garbled battle cry comes from deeper inside the forest.
“That sounds like Alice,” Sydney proclaims.
She runs deeper into the woods; until she stumbles upon a clearing. There she sees Alice and the Knave of Hearts sword fighting.
Alice is wielding two anelace daggers, while the Knave of Hearts is carrying a long sword. The Knave of Hearts charges at Alice, while she barely dodges the sword as the blade grazes her arm. Alice winches from the cut. Alice starts to spin her to daggers in a circular motion. The Knave of Hearts strikes the center of the daggers which sends the daggers flying out of Alice’s hands.
“You need a faster spin,” The Knave of Hearts says.
“Wow, Alice. That was impressive,” Sydney says with admiration in her voice.
“Ah, glad of you to join us, Sydney,” the Knave of Hearts says,” Why don’t you pick up a weapon?”
Sydney sees in the far corner, a rack of various weapons. The first weapon to catch her eye is the long bow.
“I guess all those years of archery lessons will pay off,” Alice chimes.
“Now that both of you are here, let’s begin the training,” the Knave of Hearts says.
The next month is grueling and treacherous. Alice and Sydney learn about hand to hand combat, stealth skills, and pressure points. Finally, the time has come to infiltrate the enemy’s castle, and end this war once and for all.
Tonight was the Black queen’s annual  ball. Everybody attending wore masquerade masks, so the sisters would be hard to be found among the rest of the guests. All dressed up in ballroom gowns, Alice and Sydney make their way inside the Black queen’s domain. The interior of the castle was decorated in black and red. There was sparkling white chandeliers hanging for the ceiling. Along the wall, was a twenty - five yard table covered with food and drinks. The grand foyer seemed to go on and on for miles. On a balcony seated above the guests, sat the queen on her throne.
“Ladies and Gentlemen,” the queen says eloquently, “tonight is the annual masquerade ball. Please enjoy yourselves, and try to forget all about your troubles.”
Throughout the night, Alice and Sydney are able to blend in with the crowd and stay unidentifiable. As the night was coming to a close, the queen offered rooms to guests who had a far travel home. Alice and Sydney follow the other guests deeper into the castle. Alice and Sydney stray from the group; trying to find out where the queen walked off to. Alice and Sydney find a giant set of double doors protected by multiple guards. “This must be the queen’s private quarters,” Alice whispers to Sydney.
As the sisters try to make up a plan of attack, one of the guards spots them.
            “Intruder!” a guard shouts.
Alice and Sydney jump into action. Alice unsheathes the daggers from the back of her dress and starts to charge. Sydney unstraps the bow from her back, and takes her arrows out of her boots. One of the guards takes out his sword and charges at Alice. Alice swiftly slides under the blade and slices the abdomen of the guard.
Multiple guards surround Sydney and closes in on her. Sydney takes a handful of arrows and rapidly fires them at the guards. The guards drop down with a thud. Alice is running sporadically through rows of guards, slicing off various body parts in the process. Sydney is dealing with multiple guards around her. She has no time to re-cock the bow, so she uses the steel tips of the bow to fend off her attackers. Luckily, Alice sees her sister in trouble, and runs over to help her. Alice mercilessly drags her daggers across the legs of the guards. They all scream in anguish as they fall down.
Once the last guard falls to the ground, the two sisters approach the large brass doors. Sydney knows she will be the one to kill the queen; her weapon is for long ranges, while her sister’s weapons are not. Sydney knows once she lets the arrow go, there is no turning back. Her regret disappears when she remembers all the innocent lives the Black queen has taken. When the doors are open, Sydney has no hesitation as she lets her arrow fly.

Confusion
My love for you is fleeting evertime I leave you
My love for you is growing everytime I see you
The more I interact with you, the more I fall in love
The more I see you interacting with her, the more I run away
I love the way you make me smile with your presence
I know you smile brighter with her around
I feel the warmth radiate off you as you get closer
I stay frozen in place, scared to lose this feeling
What you do and say confuses me to no end
Am I just seeing things or is something there
I keep running around in circles with my feelings for you
Do you like here or do I have a chance?

A five year old Emi had stopped mid- walk, listening intensively to her great-grandpa. Tears started to flow down her face as she heard the words “move somewhere new”
“We can’t move grandpa! I’ll miss Riki, Takuto, and Kenshi!” Emi screamed as she spun around and ran.
“EMI, don’t run off on you own!”
Emi just shook her head and continued to pump her tiny legs. As she blindly ran away, she didn’t see the restaurant door about to open. ‘CRASH’ , the force of the impact made Emi stumble backwards and cry out in pain. Her great-grandpa came up to her and carried her off to tend to her wound.
After Emi was all bandaged up and reprimanded for running off, her grandpa brought up the move again.
“Emi, I know you don’t want to leave the boys, but I’m sure you’ll make new friends.”
“Who are the boys, grandpa?” Emi asked in confusion.
“Riki, Takuto, Kenshi, Hiro, and Atsumu, do you remember them, Emi?”
Tears ran down Emi’s face as she tried to remember.
“It hurts my head, grandpa,” Emi cried.
Her great-grandpa pet her head as he spoke, “Don’t worry, Emi you’ll remember soon.”
Soon wasn’t as quick as her grandpa thought, it had been a week since the incident and the day they were moving. Emi had not remembered her dear friends in that time span. That day Emi felt a sadness wash over her. She didn’t want to leave, but she did not know why.
When Emi moved to her new home, she made two new friends, Tatsuro and Ranko, her old friends still forgotten. She would not see her old friends until years later, when they try to steal a painting on display at the museum she works at. Her old friends still remember who Emi is. It saddened them when they heard about Emi’s memory lost. When they meet her as an adult they once again became her friends. They still have hope that one day she’ll remember.
*PRESENT DAY*
“It’s such a slow day today,” I mumble to myself as I rest my chin on my palm. As I stare off into space, I hear a ruckus in the storage room. ‘I wonder what that noise is?’ I venture to the back, to figure out what the noise is. As I go to open the door, I hear a crash. I see Mitsuru on the ground trying to pick up the contents that fell from the boxes.
“Mitsuru, do you need help?” I ask.
“Oh, Emi, I was just moving this painting and then I hit the boxes,” Mitsuru admits shyly.
“I can help you move the painting into the gallery, it looks kinda big,” I suggest.
“Thank you, Emi!”
We both grab a part of the painting and start our trek to the gallery.
“Okay, now put the side of the frame on that hook,” I instruct.
When we finish hanging the painting, I stand back to make sure it is straight. Then I see part of the frame start to tilt. ‘Oh no, it’s going to fall.’ I run toward the painting and try to adjust it back onto the hooks. My hand slips and the edge of the frame hits me on my forehead. I struggle through the pain and manage to get the painting back onto the wall.
“Emi, are you alright?!” Mitsuru worriedly asks.
“I’m fine, I’m just going to get some ice for my head.”
As I walk toward the staff lounge, my head begins to throb.
“Ugh, this hurts,” I groan.
All of a sudden my vision blurs and I see five boys in front of me.
“Emi!” They all happily cheer.
I come back to my senses and see the staff door in front of me. ‘That was weird. I wonder what that was?’ I shrug it off and go get myself some ice.
                        *AT LRN*
“Finally, I’m done with the day,” I cheer.
“Hey, Emi!”
“Kenshi!” I wave as he walks over.
“What happened to your forehead?” Kenshi asks concern in his eyes, “Are you alright?”
“Oh yeah, I’m fine. A painting fell on me earlier,” I explain.
“Emi’s back,” Hiro says as he bounds toward me. As he approaches, his lips turn downward as he asks, “What happened to your head?”
As I’m about to tell Hiro the story, I see Takuto and Atsumu walk toward us. ‘At least I won’t have to explain it two more times.’ When I finish explaining the incident, I ask where Riki is.
“Oh, he said that he would be staying late at the office, so he will join us later,” Atsumu explains.
“Well I’m not waiting until Riki gets here to eat,” Takuto exclaims, “Beardy, get me some pork noodles!”
“Boss, I’ll have one also,” I say.
“Two pork noodles, coming right up.”
We end up sitting at a circular table, just eating and chatting about our day. I hear a bell ring behind me and see Riki walking through the doors. As Riki sits down my eyes glaze over and the scene before my changes. The walls melt away and becomes a clear blue summer day. I feel grass underneath my fingertips, and I hear laughter resonate through the breeze. I look around to see three little boys sitting beside me. Another boy who looks to be in his teen years comes up to us and says “I have a mission for you guys.” ‘A mission?’
My pupils dilate back as I return to reality. All the Black Foxes are curiously looking at me.
“Emi, are you okay? You zoned out,” Riki informs me,
“I’m fine, I’ve just been having visions every since I hit my head earlier, nothing to worry about,” I say as I wave them off. The whole room goes silent after I say that. Everyone looked like they wanted to say something, but thought better about it and decided not to. The silence ended when boss said “I have a mission for you guys. Word has it that there’s one of Emi’s great grandfather’s paintings being put on display at a party tomorrow night. After the party ends, the host is going to take the painting and sell it on the black market.”
“That’s horrible,” I gasp.
“Takuto, get me the layout of the room they are holding the painting in,” Riki commands.
“Okay, got it. It looks like the painting will be on display in the corner of the room. There are three doors in the room. One of them are the main doors, another set of doors leads to the backyard, and the final set of doors leads farther back into the house.”
“There will be guards surrounding the main entrance, painting, and the interior doors,” Riki states, “Emi and I will attend as guests to investigate any possible dangers. Hiro, you will arrive shortly after us. As you walk by the painting, distract the guards and get them away from the their post. Takuto, you will cut the power. Kenshi. you will come in from the back and deal with the remaining guards. In the confusion, Emi and myself will grab the painting.”
When the meeting ends, everyone leaves to prepare for tomorrow.
*TIME SKIP*
The van is parked a block away from our destination.
“Everyone knows what they need to do?” Riki asks. We all nod in unison. “ Okay, operation snag-and-grab is a go. Let’s move out team.”
Riki and I get out first and start to head toward the house. I gasp in astonishment as we approach the house. It is a five story house with surveillance cameras at every window. There are two guards stationed at the entrance. I gulp audibly. Suddenly, Riki takes my hand in his and whispers “Don’t worry, I’ll protect you.” My nerves calm down at the sound of his voice.
“Okay,” I whisper back, as I give his hand a squeeze.
When we enter through the doors, I immediately spot the painting in the corner. I survey the area and spot two additional guards at the interior side of the entrance, two guards on either side of the painting, and one guard in front of a farther back door. After we searched the area, Riki drags me to the back of the room and contacts the others. I hear the main doors open and close, and turn around to see Hiro in a long red dress, with hair past his shoulders. The subtle click of hell on tile is audible as Hiro sashays over to the painting.
“May I have a look at the painting?” Hiro asks.
The guards move slightly to allow him to look more closely at the painting. When he’s finished examining it, he looks in our direction and gives us a slight nod. This confirms that the painting is indeed the original. As Hiro walks away, he trips and falls to the floor.
“Can someone help me? I think I twisted my ankle,” Hiro cries out.
When the guards walk over to help Hiro, the scene before me vanishes. Instead, I see a toddler helplessly crying on the grass as an adult goes to comfort him. My eyes focus in once again and I’m back to reality. I see Hiro being supported by the guards as they go outside.
I have no time to think about what happened as Riki says, “Come on, Emi let’s get into position.”
When we are in front of the painting, the lights go out and an alarm blares through the air. “FIRE!” I hear someone yell. Panic ensues as all the guests hastily make their way to an exit. During the chaos, Kenshi manages to sneak in. Riki and I grab the painting. Before we can escape, I hear a gruff voice say “Get the painting!” I feel a vice like grip on my arm and am thrown in the opposite direction. “Grab the thieves,” A voice yells. I hear heavy footsteps coming my way. Just as a hand reaches my arm, the pressure ceases. I look up to see that Kenshi knocked down the man that was going to grab me. The scene dissipates before me and I see a little boy fighting off various dogs. “RUN!” I hear Kenshi yell, this snaps me out of my trance. I get back on my feet and search for Riki. I blindly stumble back to where the painting was in hopes that Riki is still there. Suddenly, I feel a hand cover my mouth. Before I have time to scream, I hear a familiar voice whisper, “Emi, it’s just me.”
I relax as I hear Riki’s voice. “Follow me.” I obediently oblige and follow Riki through the door that leads farther into the house.
“Takuto, can you find us a way out?” Riki whispers into the dark.
“Yeah, take a left at the next hallway, the open the door on your right. You should be in the kitchen. In the back right corner there is a window that opens to the garden. I’ll disable the security cameras for you.”
As we make our way to the back window, Takuto yells, “Hurry, there are two guards that will be approaching the kitchen at any minute.”
Takuto’s panicked voice triggers another familiar voice in my head. A little kid is saying “Hurry, he’s coming back.”
“Emi, hurry up!” Riki barks at me.
I quickly scramble out the window as I hear the creak of a door opening.
When we make it to solid ground, we sprinted as fast as we could toward the van. When we jump inside I notice a presence missing.
“Where’s Kenshi?” I ask.
“He go in some trouble with the guards. He said if he doesn’t arrive in the next two minutes, leave,” Boss informed me.
Before I have time to worry, a voice says, “Sorry I’m late,” and hops into the van. With everybody here, Boss floors it back to LRN.
When we make it back to LRN, everyone is cheering about the successful mission.
“Operation snag-and-grab was a success,” Riki announced.
At that moment, I once again find myself in another world. Only this time I can recognize the faces around me. I see a young Riki, Takuto, Kenshi, a toddler Hiro, and a teenage Atsumu, along with a young version of me, sitting around a plate of cookies. “Operation snack-and-grab was a success,” young Riki says as we all cheer in response.
The memory goes out of focus, as I find myself watching all the guys cheering. I can’t help but laugh as I watch the all too familiar scene. I silently walk over to the group with a smirk on my face. “Hey Riki, you know you weren’t that creative with the mission title,” I say out of the blue, “What about snack-and-grab?”
The room goes silent as I utter the name of our first mission that took place years ago.
Riki slowly walks towards me and asks, “Emi, do you remember?”
As I’m about to answer, I feel water building up in my eyes. I smile brightly and say “Yes.” At this revelation, a group hug forms around me. No words are said as we all savor the silence. As they let go one by one, I am presented with smiling faces.
Tears fall down my cheeks as I happily say, “Tadaima.”
Tadaima = I’m home

Water Dyed Red
Summary: It's time for the third quarter quell. Katniss and Peeta are sent into the horrible arena once again, but this time they face a new threat. An hour they have never faced before. Will this threat bring them closer together, or tear them farther apart? May the odds be ever in your favor.
Pairing:  Sorta Katniss X Peeta, have not established a relationship
Genre: Adventure/Drama
*Set before they found out about the clock*
The arena is somewhat similar to the last Hunger Games. They have a vast forest, so we’ll probably be able to find some type of food. The difference though is they have a giant body of water surrounding the center of the arena. I haven’t been back there since the beginning, when the tubes placed me there, surrounded by water. During the fight for weapons at the cornucopia, I found Peeta and we managed to escape into the forest. Now my only objective is to keep Peeta safe.
As we’re walking through the forest, I can feel the blazing sun burning down on me. I look to see the sun high in the sky. I’m guessing it’s around noon.
“Peeta, we should split up and look for food and fre……” I’m interrupted by a flash of lightning hitting a nearby tree. I wait for more lightning to come, but it suddenly stops. That’s odd, why would there only be one flash of lightning? Why did it only hit that tree? Was there some significance to that lightning? These thoughts swarm in my head as I try to process what happened.
“Anyway, just meet back here in an hour, we’ll see how much food we collect and go from there,” I instruct.
As I walk through the dense trees, I begin to realize something is wrong. I don’t see any animals living here. The trees are all lush and healthy, so it’s not a bad habitat. There has to be something here that the animals don’t like or are afraid of. Dread starts to pour into my stomach and I know something bad is going to happen. I race back to our meeting spot, hoping that I’ll find Peeta there.
When I arrive there, I see nobody. Suddenly I feel something fall on my hand. I look down to see a dot of red. I crane my neck to see if I can find the source. Just then more droplets started to fall from the sky along with a very familiar scent. My eyes widen in realization and I feel my stomach churn at the very thought. IT’S BLOOD.
“Peeta!” I scream into the dense woods. I run toward the direction I last saw Peeta. As I continue running, I feel the blood pounding heavily on me. The blood starts to pour down on me until all I see is red.
“Katniss!” I hear a voice shout.
“Peeta, where are you? I can’t see!” I panic.
“Katniss, don’t worry. Just follow my voice.”
I slowly walk forward and reach out my hand, hoping to find his familiar warmth. I feel something warm envelop my hand and tighten its grip. I suddenly feel my arm being yanked, and the next thing I know, I’m being dragged forward.
“What are you…..” ‘HURK’. I can’t even finish my sentence, as an overwhelming taste of copper enters my mouth. I feel my stomach flip as I try to spit out the vile liquid, but with no luck as more blood falls down. The only response I get to my question is one word, “Beach.”
I feel like we’ve been running aimlessly, until the liquid is no longer pouring down. I raise my hand to my face to try and wipe the blood from my eyes. I see water in front of me and immediately run toward it, engulfing my body. The blood starts to wash away but the scent still lingers. I see Peeta come up from behind me and start to wash the blood off too. We sit in silence until I hear a stomach growl.
“I’ll go gather some wood,” I inform Peeta, “You try and find some fish.”
I hesitantly make my way to the forest edge. When I peer through the trees, I see no signs of blood. I wonder when it stopped? I see a pile of twigs not too far from where I’m standing, so I decide to venture in and grab them. After a while we managed to get a fire going, and started cooking the fish.
The rest of the day was uneventful, as we both decided to stay at the beach. I had enough “fun” for one day. As night approaches I wait for the familiar Panem anthem, and watch to see how many victors died today. As the images fade from the sky, I turn to Peeta and say, “Thank you.”
“For what?” He asks.
“For earlier, thank you for leading me out.”
“It was no big deal. I can’t have my teammate die, now can I?” He jokingly says.
I smile at his response, but something hurts inside.
“I’ll take the first watch, get some rest,” He whispers to me.
I close my eyes and soon my tiredness washes over me. Before I succumb to sleep, one thought enters my mind. We’re really only teammates, huh. Well I can’t complain, that’s what I want, right?”

Memory
I look toward the cloudy filled sky.
I look to find a past memory resurfacing.
The day we laid side by side and talked about nothing in particular.
The day that all noise faded into the background.
I can hear our laughter resonate toward the sky.
I can make out the words from your lips and the smile that grazed my face.
I feel the grass underneath my fingertips, as soft as the clouds I see.
I feel my stomach rise and fall from the laughter that escapes my lips.
I want to relive that moment on that special day.
I want that memory to be one of many I have with you.
I know that it won't be so, no matter how hard I will it to.
I know that when you look back on that day all it will be to you is a past memory.

Beach AGAIN ?!
I do not own Ouran High School Host Club. Enjoy.
Summary:  Haruhi learned a good lesson the last time she was at the beach. Now she's forced again to go back, but this time there are no customers. Will the guys finally be able to see her in a bikini? Will someone finally catch Haruhi's attention. Will Haruhi be able to realize his feelings, or will she be too dense to even notice?
Pairing: Haruhi X Hikaru
Genre: Romance/Humor
Right now I’m staring at my Senpai, trying to convince me to go into the water.
“Come on Haruhi. Come play with daddy!” I hear.
As I sit on the beach fidgeting with my shirt, I think back to how I got here in the first place.
———–flashback——— 2 hours ago
I’m just leaving my apartment to go check out some books from the library. On my walk there, I notice how today is such a nice day. But after a while it starts to feel really hot.
I sigh to myself and mutter “I wish I had a pool.”
Then I hear two voices say “We can help you.”
In a split second, a black limousine comes flying toward me. Then Kaoru and Hikaru pick me up, and throw me into the limo. I look up and see Tamaki-Senpai smiling at me.
Tamaki-Senpai picks me up and starts to cuddle me saying “Haruhi I’m glad you came.”
I push him away and ask “What is the meaning of this?! Why did you abduct me? AGAIN?!”
“I just wanted to have some father daughter bonding time at the beach”, He says innocently.
I’m about to tell my Senpai that he shouldn’t of kidnapped me, when I see the door open. I step out onto the same beach I was at when I fell off the cliff. Before I utter a word, I am yet again dragged against my will. With Hikaru on my right and Kaoru on my left, I am thrown into the ladies changing room. I immediately pale at the sight of the Hitachiin maids. They hold up a blue, frilly, two piece bathing suit. I turn around and make a mad dash for the door. They grab my arm right when I’m about to reach the doorknob. Then they strip me of my clothes, and force me into the bathing suit. Before I am roughly pushed out of the room, I hurriedly throw over the shirt I was wearing.
——————end of flashback———–
Now here I am, staring at my senpai, who’s currently making a fool out of himself.
I then hear Hikaru and Kaoru say “My Lord, play volleyball with us.”
Tamaki responds “No, I won’t play one of your childish games.”
Hikaru suddenly walks over to me, tilts my chin up and says “Well, what if the winner gets to kiss our precious Haruhi?”
Tamaki runs to get a volleyball, and angrily spikes it over the net. As I watch the game between my Senpai and Hikaru and Kaoru. I think to myself, I hope Hikaru wins. I stop dead in my tracks. Woah, where did that thought come from? Why do I want Hikaru to win? It’s just because I don’t want my senpai kissing me, right? As I watch the match, I see Hikaru teasing Tamaki, and then Tamaki getting mad. I can’t help but notice how good Hikaru looks right now. I shake my head. I have got to get rid of these thoughts.
In the end, nobody won. Right when both teams had 15 points, they all collapsed. I sigh to myself and go grab 3 water bottles and a bucket of water. First I go and revive Kaoru, I pour the bucket of water on him, and he wakes with a start. I hand him the water bottle and he thanks me for my kindness. Next I move onto Tamaki-Senpai . After I revive him and give him water, he starts sprouting out about how “I was his angel,” and blah blah blah. Finally I head to Hikaru, and dump water on him. He looks up at me, and I notice how hot he looks soaking wet. When I go to hand him the water bottle, I slip on the wet sand and fall on top of Hikaru. When I look up, I see Hikaru staring at me, and I’m captivated by his gaze. I snap out of it when I feel myself being yanked onto my feet. Next I see my Senpai frantically looking at me, asking if I was hurt.
I’m about to respond when Honey-Senpai comes running up to me and say “Haru-chan come and eat cake with Uso-chan and me.”
I happily respond with, “Ok Honey-Senpai, I’ll be there in a minute.”
I walk over to a picnic table and see Honey-Senpai munching on cake, with Uso-chan sitting next to him. As always, Mori-Senpai is sitting across the table reading a book. I sit down next to Honey-Senpai and start eating cake, like I said I would. After we finish our cake, Honey-Senpai says, “Haru-chan do you know why I love cake?” I shake my head. “It’s because cake is so sweet, even though it will give me toothaches. It’s all worth the trouble, just for my happiness.”
I respond, “Well cake is really sweet.”
“Oh Haru-chan.” Honey-Senpai sighs and shakes his head.
I look at him quizzically. Silently asking him what I did wrong. But all of a sudden Honey-Senpai jumps out of his chair and says “Haru-chan I’m going to help Kyoya make dinner.” He smiles and skips along toward the beach house, with Mori-Senpai in tow.
I stay still for a few minutes and ask myself what Honey-Senpai ment. I feel like whatever Honey-Senpai was talking about, it wasn’t cake. But if it wasn’t about cake, then what was it? I sit and ponder for a while, until I smell the crab cooking. I decide that I can think about this later, and head straight toward the beach house.
During dinner, everyone is happily chatting and eating. Out of the corner of my eye, I see that Hikaru keeps glancing at me. I glance back and meet his gaze. It’s just for a split second, then he continues his conversation with Kaoru. I suddenly feel a fluttering in my stomach. I must’ve ate too much crab again.
After dinner, I head off to my room. I’m about to change out of my bathing suit when I see the ocean from my window. It looks so pretty. I decide to wait to change and head back outside. I’m so captivated by the stars, that I don’t hear the footsteps coming up behind me. I hear someone say, “Haruhi?”
Without missing a beat I respond, “Yeah Hikaru.”
I hear a chuckle, “How is it you can always tell Kaoru and I apart?”
“You guys are two different people. You both have distinct characteristics about yourselves.”
“So Haruhi, why are you out so late?”
I turn around and say, “Well the water looked so pretty, I just wanted to see it up close. Why are you out here Hikaru?”
“I couldn’t sleep.”
It suddenly becomes silent. Both of us are just gazing up at the stars. But it’s a comfortable silence. Hikaru suddenly takes my hand and starts to pull me toward the ocean.
I ask him, “What are you doing?”
“I thought it would look more pretty if we stand in the water.”
I look around and gasp in awe. The stars reflection in the water looks like we’re both walking among the stars. Hikaru suddenly stops and releases my hand. For some reason, I’m sad that I don’t have that warmth anymore. I’m too mesmerized by the stars to see Hikaru come up behind me, and splash me with water.
I turn around furiously and say “You did not just do that.” I quickly splash Hikaru back.
He looks surprised and says “Oh, it’s on.”
We start having a splashing war. After a while, I don’t feel the water hit me anymore. I stop my attack to see Hikaru’s face bright red. I go over to him and say, “Hikaru are you sick?” I then put my hand to his head, and I can feel his face getting hotter. He murmurs something so quiet I strain my ears to hear.
“Hikaru, speak up, I can’t hear you.”
“Your shirt,” he then motions toward my soaking wet shirt. I step back and examine it. I get confused as to what his saying.
“Yeah, what about it.”
“I can see your bathing suit through it,” he quietly mumbles.
“Oh that, well your stupid maids forced me into this thing,” I angrily say, “So if you got a problem with it, it’s not my fault.”
While waving his arms in a panic he says, “No that’s not what I meant. It looks really………..”.
"Really what?” I ask annoyed.
“Really nice on you.” He sheepishly says.
I’m taken back by his comment, and just stare up at Hikaru. I look up into his amber eyes. I get lost in a sea of gold. I look from his eyes to his lips and start to lean forward. Hikaru does the same, and with half lidded eyes he whispers “Haruhi.” I close my eyes and feel a soft sensation on my lips. But as soon as I felt the warmth, it left. I open my eyes to see Hikaru blushing beet red. I giggle and stand on my tip-toes to peck his lips. He seems surprised by the action, but smiles none the less. As I see Hikaru’s smile, I can feel my face heat up. In a panic, I bury my face into his chest. As I rest my head on Hikaru’s chest I finally understand what Honey-Senpai meant. Hikaru may give me a headache from time to time, but it’s worth staying because I get these unforgettable moments I wouldn’t want to share with anyone else.
