I mean don't take this the wrong way, I'm EXTREMELY happy and proud that they got nominated, but I just think that they deserved to be nominees in categories with the album, more than with dynamite
Dynamite is good but nowhere near bts' level and nowhere near Map of the Soul: 7, and I thought the grammys would recognize that but obviously I was wrong.

Oli's Quintessional Bangtan song recs:
When talking about their new album and how they were involved in not just the music production but also the theme planning , photo shoot , music video taking and editing etc. And how this is their most "BTS-esque" album to date , I had the thought of what do I consider a BTS-esque sound and message. And here is what I came up with. Also a good rec maybe for people just getting into BTS after Dynamites release and want to know what their discography is like (since it is really massive and kinda overwhelming as a where to start point)
Dope: " This is bangtan style , nothing like those lying wacks" says it all , BTS is often openly critical of the politics and corruption in their own music industry , a trend which has continued as they have found success abroad as well. There are many songs that touch on the dichotomy of being addressed as idols vs. artists and what that means to them , but this one has the pizzaz of early yet to succeed domestically or internationally bangtan that shows their core values and beliefs (and that later discography proves has remained resolute)
Spring Day : The fans call her the Eternal Queen , BTS calls her a Zombie who won't die , this song has not left the charts since its release in early 2017. The song was used as a comfort in the face of a national tragedy and great political upheaval in S.Korea, but it's messages are universally appealing. The fact they have brought it back into their live performance rotation during COVID-19 says it all to the enduring warmth present in its thematics.
Hip hop phile : a song released at the very start of BTS career giving credit to all the artists who influenced them to pursue music. Always giving credit where credit is due.
Anpanman : a fun loving song about how their just ordinary people who want to make a difference in the world . Even if they aren't super powered , their mundaneness is what makes them accessible and allows their words to resonate around the world
Go go : "There's no tomorrow my future is already mortgaged " then watch them do the floss as they chant Yolo Yolo Yolo about spending money on fuck it expenses desperately seeking happiness in small monetary things cause capitalism has doomed us all anyway
Fun boys : the song name originates from their fans. Instead of being the bulletproof boys their fans would call them fun boys which sound very similiar phonetically. They are rather infamous for their high energy antics. They have been likened by journalists to a tumbling puppy cyclone , which is very apt.
Tomorrow : A song talking about the want to give up during tough times but the resolve to keep struggling through for a better future. A lot of songs of BTS are about hope and dreams , but I think the fact this song was released in 2014 and is still recced as a fan favourite and even referenced in other bodies of work (Suga's Interlude) talks about the enduring messages prevalent in the song
Ma City: The obligatory Hometown Anthem™ BTS has a lot of songs that they make clear they are very proud of their heritage and who they are. A lot of them have some serious cultural nuance that you need footnotes to truly understand and appreciate (Paldogangsan , Ddaeng etc) This song also is important because none of the boys are born in Seoul , their not exactly country bumpkins but Seoul and its immediate surrounding area accounts for about 50% of S.Korea's population , so having a band with no one from Seoul and who all have regional dialects and accents is important to who they are as people and the way they sing and rap.
I think the quintessential bangtan song have a couple elements : They are candid to the point of potential controversy/subversive in nature , while being hopeful , and topical to current events and their life expierences and background...and catchy haha. I look forward to the new album release.

Everything about “Like” is so iconic why don’t people talk about it more???? Hobi’s verse is honestly one of his best. Period. And Yoongi’s “oh shit”? Cultural reset.

I'm just gonna rant a bit. I think I am going to quit my job. I've only been working there a year so it really feels like quitting too soon, but I have always hated the job. I only took it because I was in a bad place mentally and needed a reason to get out of bed. And I'm sick of my boss, I have known her for 14ish years and she has always been an authority figure in my life, first as a coach now as a boss, and as both I feel like I have not gotten the respect I deserved from her. I work(ed) hard and the only time she would even talk to me is when there were problems. Recently one of my coworkers quit and she wants me to take more responsibility(without a pay increase) and I told her to find somebody else becuase I did not feel I was ready for the position, but she completely disregard that and I took the position anyway, now she is trying to tack on even more responsibilities and expecting me to just say "yes ma'am" like i have for 14 years and I'm just sick of it. I feel like it might be an overreaction but at this point I dread even going to work, and as it is a teaching position I feel like it is not fair for my students that I continue when I loathe being there.
