Rewatching Ninjago as an adult: SEASON 5

I've being doing a series on YouTube called "Nostalgia Trip" where I'm rewatching old shows and seeing if I've changed my mind since childhood, and I've decided to start posting here too. Of course, since Ninjago is one of my favorite childhood shows, it's one of the ones I review. Currently, I just finished Season 5 and have just posted my full review on my channel! Here's a cut down version of said review.

REVIEW:

I always remembered Season 5 being one of the best seasons, and as of now, I still do hold it pretty high on my list. Not sure if it's my favorite anymore because I did feel like the pacing was a little sluggish in the first half, but I still love this season and the writing overall was very strong. Every main character came across very well. Zane and Jay kind of take a back seat but I thought their writing was still good.

Strengths: Character Dynamics, Writing, Bold Choices, and SCORE (the music is FANTASTIC throughout the whole thing, which I think really makes a lot of things so strong)

Critiques: Pacing, Action Scenes (some good scenes, but weakest season in terms of action overall), and inconsistent tone.

HIGHLIGHTS:

I always like to include my favorite and least favorites episodes, I rank the main 6 ninja after each season and then average out their rankings, along with ranking the seasons I've watched so far (so season 1-5 so far).

Favorite Episode(s): Grave Danger & The Cursed World Part II

Least Favorite Episode: Kingdom Come

Better Than I Remember: The Crooked Path

Ninja Ranking S5: Kai > Cole > Nya > Lloyd > Zane > Jay

I love all of the ninja btw, so no hate to any of them. Jay and Zane just didn't have as much focus this season.

Ninja Ranking Average (S1-5): Kai > Zane > Cole > Lloyd > Jay > Nya

I'm not the biggest fan of Nya's writing in the first few seasons so that's why she's at the bottom right now. Cole is my overall favorite but Zane was my OG favorite and Kai has the best writing so far.

Season Ranking So Far (S1-5): 4 > 5 > 1 > 2 >>> 3

Season 3 is the only season so far that I found to be very messily written. Season 1 is the most consistent in terms of quality, but the first half of Season 4 and the second half of Season 5 are my favorites so far. I just find Season 4 slightly more re-watchable as of now.
