It took him ten years to finish the Mona Lisa's lips. But then again, he also designed the car and the helicopter at the same time... Da Vinci – The Genius is now open! www.mos.org/da-vinci

Did you know that Leonardo da Vinci made all his notes in mirror writing, starting from the right and moving to the left? One theory is that he was trying to hide his ideas from the church, while another is that it was just easier for him as he was left handed. Da Vinci – The Genius is now open! www.mos.org/da-vinci

Charles River Cyanobacteria Bloom
A cyanobacteria bloom has plagued the lower basin of the Charles River since August. These blooms are harmful to humans and wildlife alike, and this one is jeopardizing the health of the Charles River ecosystem. These result from stormwater runoff picking up phosphorous from sources like fertilizers, car exhaust, wastewater, some soaps and detergents, and more. The good news is that we can all help combat these blooms! The Charles River Watershed Association put together this informative list of 9 ways we can combat these blooms in the Charles River. http://bit.ly/keep-charles-clean

After a journey of nearly 5 years across the Solar System, NASA's Juno probe arrives at Jupiter on Monday, the Fourth of July. The mission will study Jupiter's atmosphere and deep interior to try and understand how planets form. The orbital insertion is scheduled for 11:18 PM on Monday. This 35-minute rocket burn has to go just right, or Juno will zoom by Jupiter never to return. If you're up late on the Fourth, tune in to NASA's webcast after the fireworks are over and watch the mission controllers put a spacecraft into orbit at Jupiter for just the second time ever!

Thanks to REPTILAND for keeping a close eye on our hopping friends while they are here at the Museum! The frog keepers, Anna and Jake, shared their favorite frog species: the giant monkey frog and the smooth-sided toad. Their jobs as frog keepers involve checking in on the frogs while in Boston and making sure that their environments are comfortable.
See frog species from around the world in Frogs: A Chorus of Colors.
