By this point this blog is a over a year old and due a combination of adhd, mental illness and my awful cashier job consuming most of my life, I have yet to use this blog for its intended purpose: writing longish reviews and info dumps on various JP media. Specifically, I want to focus on un-translated media, as language ability may not be high level enough to score a job but at least I can flex online about getting to read untranslated comics…… cries But of course I also read/watch/play things that already have an English version so I may talk about those as well…. Who knows….. Anyway, as a way to hopefully motivate myself I will list some plans for things I hope to write soonish or so. Two manga I read alot of during april was Enban Maze and Watashi no Arika. I enjoy(ed) both of them very much and have things to say, so writing about them is my main goal!

In the epic gaming sphere I have been revisiting the Fire Emblem series again. It started with me wanting to make sure I unlocked the spotpass content on the Japanese version of Awakening I downloaded (wink wink), before the online closure. And then it felt like I had been transported back to middle school as I was obsessively playing once again. (Say what you want about the writing and the like but the game is addicting.) Right now I'm playing Mystery of the Emblem on super famicon NSO but the heavy joycon drift is really souring the experience /:. (And I don't know how to fix them at this point and I don't want to get new ones grrr.)

Anyway once my main priorities are done I'm considering writing something about my feelings on the game back then compared to now and the like. As much as I despise the cultural obsession with nostalgia I will indeed be indulging in it for that piece, but that is only if I find the motivation to write it. My problem with myself is that I have too many ideas all at once so I just wind up overwhelming myself and not writing anything, so I'm putting this out there as a way to tell myself to prioritize on only those two or three ideas for now. Once those are out of the way I can shift focus to other writings. One of my hyperfixations is niche and obscure girls' comics so reading and writing about them is a big goal of mine for this blog!! That is all I have to say for now. Last time I checked this blog had one whole follower, so if you are reading this special person I actually really appreciate your follow despite my lack of updates…. Hopefully 2024 will be a more fruitful year for this blog and I will start actually posting the things that more align with my vision for here :).

Ok so in past week or whatever.

I got caught with Furitsumore Kodokuna Shi Yo (puts title into jisho so i accidentally know how to pronounce it.) Coincidentally the day I got caught up was the release of new ch, which for now is behind paywall and idk if other sites have reuploaded it yet. So technically im one ch behind but who cares. The last couple chs have been flashbacks of the events in the village/the things described in Haikawa’s journal that Kanon just found. so like pace of the story has kinda slowed down for a bit. but jesus the events b4, with the death of sosuke and saeki resigning from the force to continue his vigilante justice. hoooly shit. i was thinking abt it like the rest of the day. im guessing this will mark the big turning point with this series, like how the focus of shinboku significantly shifted with the death of Eiji’s alter/his arrest.

Also I finished The Mitarai’s House is on Fire, woohoo. I site I was reading on did not have jpv7 for whatever reason, so I used one of the itunes gift cards I got over the holidays to buy it on mangabang. and no regrets here because I ended up loving the series alot. (also v7 has the AnzuxKichi confession and kiss scene which makes me insane and of course I bookmarked that shit……)

MitaraiKe just has like so much stuff to digest/so many diff perspectives you can analyze it from. it was such a delicious text imo. and also made me feel many emotions. im glad I finally decided to read it and I hope the la drama premiering next month (i think) is able to capture the series’ magic…..

ok so while i decide whehtwr to suck it up with subpar scans or buy digital books for mitarai house i am now reading the current work the ShinBoku duo are making now (and yes i just learned that that’s the official abbreviation for My Dearest Self….)

I’m on ch 13 of 37 and it also has a v strong murder mystery foundation 👍. also you can really tell its by the same author as shinboku based on the recurring themes between each work.

Like the focus on childhood trauma and abuse, and the subsequent cycle of abuse/trauma/hatred. The convo between the two bros where Sosuke wonders if anything would of played out differently if they knew the cause behind their father’s violent and abusive behavior is very similar to Eiji talking abt his step dad to Rei at end of shinboku…

I like these recurring themes actually because its a good glimpse into the mind and soul of the author. like these must be issues that weigh heavily on his mind. stuff like that.

how i fee rn after finishing the series.

Finally finished My Dearest Self With Malice Aforethought and it was really really good. I had had my eye on his series for a while but kept putting it off cause the beginning gave me bad vibes. but like how every character in the story is hiding something, the red flags in the beginning were just part of the series’ own facade, and the story advances in a way that i did not expect at all.

Not only were the mystery and thriller elements extremely strong, but the main characters too were very well written and handled with alot of love and sensitivity. imo. def another unforgettable work for me.

hoping to make a longer post detailing more of my thoughts later but just wanted to get something out there to express how i feel just after finishing it 👍.

*sees a new volume of “Jaaaa......................................” has been released.* You know, that series will always hold a special place in my heart. Because as someone who actively seeks ou t the most gay baity shit possible, I only started reading “Jyaaaa” because the cover I saw had ikemen + blood + the word “kill” on it, fully unaware that it’s one of the gayest non bl series on the market rn, with bait so strong that idk if its even bait anymore. i was relieved when i got caught up with the free chs that i didnt have to endure anymore, btut now that the dust has settled, im curious whats in store fo r our wet noodle protagonist, one of the  ryou asuka expys of all itime, th e guy who got a hard one when hearing about said expy’s murderous exploits (who at such point in the story it was still believed they were related), etc etc.

Ok I made the blog >:). Since I only always use redux for everytheme and its not the default anymore I just copy and pasted the code from my main one, and i completely forgot I still had those flying images sdfsdfs. ill get rid of them later I guess.
