Little preview of the Christmas 2024 entry!

Hotspot looks so proud of herself here, just look at that adorable little smile! If she were real I'd hug her just 'cause of it...even if her body is very hot to the touch.

The Christmas entry should be up sometime before the 25th. Don't forget that this does not mean the hiatus is over, I want to get this idea out before it'd be considered out of season.

I've got a Christmas themed entry in the works! But please, do not take this or the upcoming Christmas entry as an end to the hiatus, this is just to let people know I am still alive and kicking because I haven't any updates on my main Tumblr page (mentioned it in the hiatus post). Been working on an update to how the characters are drawn, and the next entry will be the first time you see it in action. Will see you again soon enough!

Happy Halloween from the Diamondback Crew!

We hope you're having a good Halloween, 'cause we sure are! Some of the crew are off to a costume party, dressed up for the occasion! Though it seems they've been sidetracked by a photo taking opportunity... well, at least they're having fun with it!

As you can see here, Brando's dressed as the washed up former big shot Spamton G. Spamton himself (from Deltarune), Tacrobo's costumed as the blue furred, perpetually unlucky homeless cat Furrball (from Tiny Toon Adventures), and Hotspot's based her dressing up on the silly, chaotic fun-loving girl rabbit hailing from Acme Acres, Babs Bunny (also from Tiny Toon Adventures).

Spamton and Deltarune belong to Toby Fox. Furrball, Babs Bunny and Tiny Toon Adventures belong to Warner Bros. (Yes, I went with the original series variants of those two specifically. The reboot screwed up a LOT of stuff from the original series and even completely scrapped a major point from it too! Still, if you like the reboot, that's cool, I just don't like what it did to the original.)

It's Hotspot's birthday today! To celebrate, she has been given some Black Forest cake and a whole jar of peanut butter (the latter of which is a major favorite food of hers)! I've got not much more to say, as we're just enjoying the celebration currently! So let's finish this post off with a hearty wish...

It's been a while!

MSD's still being made, don't you worry! I've been working on other things on the side too which has been taking up some of my time too, but hopefully we should see a return to consistent uploads soon enough!

Does Hotspot happen to go through software updates? If so, is she able to continue working while the updates download and install, or is she unable to do anything until the update process finishes?

Sorry it took so long for me to answer your question, I've been busy with another project recently outside of MSD. I wouldn't have enough time to get a proper comic style response done between now and when I get back to the other project, so I'll just answer your question traditionally.

Yes, Hotspot does go through software updates, usually once a month. It depends on what the updates bring that determine whether or not she can continue operating as usual while the updates install.

If it's security or other major updates, that's generally a case where she have to cease function to let it work its magic, then restart in order for it to finish applying. Other more minor ones, such as fixing little bugs in her code lets her continue what she is doing while they proceed without needing to reboot afterwards.

I do at least have something from when an update didn't get to conclude properly... why not give it a look?

How much of outer space has the crew explored during missions.

Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you, I've been busy with life and other projects.

Considering space is vast and infinite, and constantly rapidly expanding, determining how much of space as a whole the crew has actually explored would be a Sisyphean task. Scaling it down to, say, a single galaxy would be easier to figure out.

The galaxy they reside in, they've only explored about a 252nd of. In the year they've been working together, they've seen species humans could only dream of, encountered societies previously considered unimaginable, and gotten into missions that would give perhaps even the most experienced bounty hunter a run for their money. Though one might not think that just from what's only been seen so far...

Sooo. Are all of you from the same planet? How long did you know eachother for?

The script for the comic version of this reply was getting rather long and had some unnecessary fluff, so I'm going to just answer without the comic bit...really didn't want to go without, but I didn't want to leave this unanswered for too long.

The crew's known each other for about a year now. Hotspot came as the onboard AI part of the ship when Brando had bought it, making her the second member of the crew, and Tacrobo as the third.

As for which planets they had originated from, those are all different. Brando doesn't know which planet Hotspot was first programmed on, or if the machine she was programmed with was located on one to begin with. Hotspot herself doesn't know what the case is either.

Tacrobo was hired after a former crewmate of his recommended his services about a month after the ship had been purchased. Hotspot didn't trust him much at first due to his employment background, but she's come around after having heard how long it's been since he had his first job - which is what made her suspicious to begin with - and why he left it.

So, Tacrobo worked with his family in their business of theft, piracy and black marketing for almost 45 years. He left that job at 56, joined a discovery crew to document, research and preserve all sorts of alien life, ended up having to part ways with that past crew due to a long story neither I nor Tacrobo feel comfortable getting into right now (he's still on good terms with them, don't you worry), and finally joined the Diamondback crew after the former crewmate mentioned before had told Brando about Tacrobo.

As for Tacrobo's home planet? I think that one was abandoned due to the ecosystem being heavily polluted due to major industrialization running it down to being completely inhabitable. Kinda like what happened to the planet Orxon in the original Ratchet and Clank.

So last night, I was bored and scrolling through a Tumblr page I follow that hasn't updated since November 2015, when I saw a pic of an old character design the admin of that page drew, and wondered how that character's outfit (or at least a similar looking one) would look on Hotspot.

As you can tell, Hotspot isn't very fond of wearing the outfit. I think it's cute on her, though!
