My Thoughts on Ferguson, Michael Brown, and the So-Called Epidemic of Police Brutality
Let me just say right now- the recent killings of black men by law enforcement officers are tragic. BUT- I’m sick of people acting like cops are the fucking Antichrist. They’re not. They’re just men and women trying to do their job (sometimes incompetently, occasionally deplorably and with fatal consequences.) For every bad cop story that is played  up in the media to ridiculousness as if there is no other kind of police officer on earth, there are kind, honorable, and courageous law enforcement officers who are absolutely, positively NOT the racist assholes you make them out to be. Moreover, the media doesn’t give a fuck when a police officer gets gunned down in the line of duty. Just the other day, an officer named Sonny Kim who was an immigrant from South Korea and a long-time credit to the force got shot by a black man. I’ll say it because no one else will- the perpetrator was black- do you notice that when a white cop kills an African-American it is sung up and down the street WHITE OFFICER KILLS YOUNG BLACK MAN but when a black guy kills a cop (white, or in this case, Asian) it’s barely mentioned? Yup, that’s reverse racism in action. This cautiously politically correct nonsense is making life dangerous for cops because people want to play vigilante to compensate for a presumed defect in the system.. Do you hear that sound? That’s one thousand Liberals not giving a shit,
I have mixed feelings about the allegations of shootings themselves. I think in a lot of them there’s more to the story then what we’re hearing (except Eric Garner, that’s pure bullshit on the cop’s part.) Regardless, no cop should shoot a suspect unless his life or the life of another is in jeopardy. But what’s with all this cop-hating, one-sided crap? It really makes me sick. I have someone close to me who’s been in the police profession for many years, and believe me, the last thing on his mind is crushing his heel into the black man. The main things on his mind are providing for his family, his own non-cop related interests (video games, good movies) and setting a little extra sleep aside with his crazy schedule. There. That's my rant. I’m going to repost it to my blog, although I do not care for politics and generally do not discuss it with strangers. You can agree with me or you can say “Fuck you.” Your decision. But just remember to think twice before you gripe about the ‘God-damned fucking pigs’ with your Liberal buddies. Police have hopes and dreams and families who love them, just like your champions Michael Brown and Freddie Gray. They have folks who worry that their daddy, that their husband, that their son (reverse the genders if you wish)’s  night on the force might be their last.
Your grief and shock at the deaths of young black men are  to some extent justified- but refrain from making broad hurtful generalizations, for the sake of the good cops who keep the streets clean and safe for living.

My mom and dad got liquored up (ha-ha, just kidding, they just had a few drinks- probably barely enough to digest the premise and execution of the movie) and watched “Zombeavers,” laughing our asses off the entire time. .Needless to say, it was legen-wait for it... dary.

If you see this message, please read the first chapter of my novel in progress, "Under the Skin," and comment. If you like it, you can read more. "Under the Skin" is about a group of people become host to a parasitic alien which tries to convince them to surrender the consciousnesses to it. If you can't post on Writer's Cafe, please email me at [email protected]. Thanks!

My horror movie book says that "Dead Alive" 'ridicules religion.' Are you kidding? That priest was awesome! I thought to myself, 'now here's a father who knows how to get things done.' I want him, Daryl Dixon, and Tallahassee on my side when the shit goes down and the dead walk the earth.

The Only really worthwhile short in The ABC's of Death except "C is for Cycle" and "N is for Nuptials" as far as I'm concerned, though stylistically "D is for Dogfight" wasn't awful either. Simon Rumley is a talented and dare I say it, visionary filmmaker, who lends a immediacy to the issues of today, The Living and the Dead is still my favorite though.

I wish Spike Lee would just shut the fuck up about Django Unchained. I respect him as a filmmaker, but saying this movie offers an 'Uncle Tom' view of slavery is a stretch, to say the least.

Well, apparently, my mom still won't let me see "The Human Centipede II" til I graduate. That's right, I'm eighteen years old and I still haven't graduated from high school. What a loser, right. To my credit, I'm homeschooled and my mom has me studying on a pretty irregular schedule so it isn't like I was held back several grades. Anyway. I better quick complaining and hit the motherfucking books if I want to see Tom Six's torturefest.

Eureka Christmas Special
May I just say- Worst... Eureka.... Episode... Ever. I'm not a fan of the show but the 'Christmas Special' set things to a new low. Silly, infantile humor, and it seems like the creators threw whatever the hell they wanted in there. Sheesh.

The startling degree to which I sympathize with Joel Murray's 'Frank' is a tad frightening, say the least. But any man who throws a tied, gagged Westboro Baptist Church member off a cliff is clean in my book.

My mom is reading this to me and my brother. It's an amazing book. So moving and well-written, and really, really makes you question the things you take for granted (I know that sounds kind of cliché, but still.) Makes my sad little white-girl problems seem kind of... quaint.

Ted the Bellhop is hilarious. A very underrated film, best appreciated by someone with a unusual (i.e. absurd) sense of humor.

I remember I watched this movie with my mom, my Grandad, and my Grandad's late girlfriend Franny. Anyway, I have a bizarre attraction to one of the leads, Leo Bill, which nobody understands and my brother thinks is very funny. And throughout the movie Franny was going on INCESSANTLY about how damned ugly Leo Bill was, and I kept meekly saying 'give him a break...' because I didn't dare to say 'stop, he's cute!' And Franny was going on and on, saying when Bill's love interest showed up (I wish Leo Bill could have love interests more often, myself) "Some women will only go for a man in uniform- doesn't matter if he's as ugly as a mug!" Anyway, I was embarrassed then but now I think it's kind of funny-  it showed me that attraction is really a subjective thing.

I hate that I relate this guy! First of all, I don't stutter, but I have a mild speech challenge that I was made fun of some at school for. Secondly, I'm very shy and have lot's of self-doubt. Like, do people really like me, or are they just pretending to because they don't want to upset my parents, or, even worse, they feel bad for me? Fourth, I have major issues with sex. Fifth, who said you had to be Catholic to have Catholic guilt? Most of the time I am agnostic but there are times in my life where I am one God-fearing Motherfucker. I felt so sorry for Francis throughout the movie and wished he would ditch his crummy 'stepmom' and, you know, improve his life and stuff. But if Ihad to relate to a movie misfit, couldn't I relate to Emma Stone in "Easy A" or Lindsey Lohan in "Mean Girls?" (but not Lindsey Lohan now... ugh.)

What did we do to deserve this? We aren’t bad, are we? We didn’t do anything to anybody. Did we?

I watched Cam Archer's "Wild Tigers I Have Known" a few years back, didn't care for it. To meandering and artsy. But I remember that it was beautifully shot, and yesterday  suddenly I got the urge to watch it again. Weird, right? Anyway, I am now a fan of indie/ 'art house'; filmmaking, so I think I'll give it a go. I remember liking it a little, and I figure I might enjoy it more with a repeat viewing, like I did with "Pan's Labyrinth" and "District 9." It's worth a shot!
