My hope for this pairing is as high as it’s ever been for two reasons:

The first being the line that Jessica says at the end of S5E1 about there being more moments for both her and Morty in the future implying that a future relationship between the two is not out of the question (I do recognise that this line can have more than one meaning but this is how I’ve interpreted it).

The second reason is that it’s very possible for Jessica to be returned to her pre-apotheotic state. Why you might ask? Because of what happened to Birdperson. He was in a more worse state before Rick restored him to his normal self in S5E8 and if he can be returned to normal, there’s nothing to stop them eventually doing the same for Jessica.

In my eyes, the best thing to have when it comes to this pairing is patience; something that I have lots of.

I still have hope.

I still have hope for Morty x Jessica. I’ve shipped them for years, I won’t stop now.

WHAT THE HELL!? ADULT MORTY!?

Here's my current personal stance on Morty & Jessica in the show:

I personally think that the Morty x Jessica subplot is far from over. If you think about it, the Season 5 premiere was their first real meaningful opportunity in the show's entire run (I'm not counting their brief dinner date in "Rest and Ricklaxation" (S3E06) since Morty wasn't truly himself for most of that episode) and let's face it: unless it's a relationship that's been established from the very beginning like Beth & Jerry, I'm currently of the mindset that it would've been boring for the audience and IMO, bad storytelling if they had gotten together straight away at the very first opportunity without the show establishing at the very least, a more meaningful dynamic between them to make them getting together look more believable (by which I mean for example, them getting to know each other better and finding out if they have anything in common with each other first because let's be honest: they barely know anything about each other). Besides, when a particular pairing undergos numerous obstacles and setbacks that keep them apart, it only makes the audience want to see them together more and more and if/when it finally does happen, it becomes a much more sweeter moment to savour.

Plus, this is just my opinion but I feel that now both of them have had very different but extreme traumatic experiences, they've potentially now got something where they can relate to each other. Perhaps, this could be the start of the establishment of the dynamic I talked about earlier.

This is why in addition to fully committing myself to playing the long game with this pairing, however long it takes, I am convinced that Morty x Jessica will happen properly eventually but not for quite some time (probably at the tail end of the series or during a potential movie).

How do you feel about Jessica's future in show? Think she'll show up more with some development, or go back to having her old role as Morty's crush, or a third option? I'd like to see her more cuz she adds a nice outsider dynamic to the Smiths

I honestly think what happened is a huge opportunity for her character development. I think Morty will still have a thing for her but who knows 🤷🏻‍♀️

While a number of reviews online have said that there’ll be a negative outcome for Morty and Jessica’s date, I wouldn’t worry about it. My 2 cents on the Morty x Jessica subplot is that it’s much better to play the long game IMO; it’s the classic “will they, won’t they” like with Phineas and Isabella. After all, it wouldn’t be interesting if we got what we wanted straight away at the first opportunity, would it? There’s at least 50 more episodes to come after this season and the possibilty of a movie in the future as well; plenty of time for this particular pairing to become canon so yeah, unless the show’s creators state otherwise, I’m firmly of the mindset that whatever happens tomorrow, there’s nothing to worry about; this will absolutely not be the last we see of Jessica.

Hi, I'm kinda nervous tomorrow on how they are going develop Jessica on the season premiere. I heard that they might get rid of her, but I hope I'm wrong. I hope Jessica is still friends with Morty and goes on adventures.

I don’t think they’ll get rid of her. I think she’ll still be a part of the show. Worse comes to worse we still have fan art and fiction 🥰
