Today's morning fly is what I would describe as a cross over fly between a salmon Seatrout fly and a baitfish fly. The fly is intended to be applicable in the same situations as a ordinary salmon & seatroutfly, and will for sure be able to attract the attention of multiple species. The tube is the Pro Microtube which is custom designed exactly for this type of no body flies where it is the wing in the form of Pro Marblefox with a generous amount of Pro Angelhair HD here in the color Rusty Olive that match the colors scheme perfectly, that gives the fly it's shape and signature in the water. Weighted quite hard with a 0,70 gram/11 grains Pro Raw weight to penetrate the surface film fast, and start fishing instantly, but also to ensure a distinct "jiggy" swim pattern that will hold the fly level or diving even in the hardest current. For hook control I mounted the Pro Hookguide XL to allow hooks from #4-4/0 to be used, if the fly is to be fished in saltwater for ex. To round the fly of and to give that super protection to the vital parts of the fly, of course the battle proven Pro Softhead #6mm i. black, and a set of Pro Cooleyes Orange. I am confident that this is the type of fly I will use a lot in the seasons to come and will keep you guys posted on the results.

The typical stomach content for seatrouts caught at the open Scandinavian coast at 4 degree celcius water temperature. The dominant available food source is by far the Gammarus/Scud and this proves why the Gammarus flies must be present in your box, and if the winds allow it, bring out your 4 or 5 weight and put a #12 Gammarus imitation on. Then a single Sandworm could indicate that we are getting closer to the epic rag worm hatch where Seatrout loose their mind and go bonanza, and normally happens around 5 degrees, so good fishing is just around the corner if the weather holds. Need to tie a lot of these small trout snack in the days to come.

A quick pimped Polar Magnus style saltwater fly on a #2 Mustad CS52SNP hook. I used the marabou found on soft patches as tail, and a full feather for the body hackle. The first 2/3 of the body is wrapped with Mylar mirage tinsel, and the last 1/3 white pearl Angelhair cut, spun in a loop a S brushed up before hackling. Finished off with a pink soft patch feather, and a 4mm Softhead. The "Micro Squid" is new experimental fly on my behalf. The design base and starting point is to design a hard core fishing fly with minimum air resistance for maximum casting distance, and a distinctively jiggly action, and extreme durability. The hook is a short shanked Owner carp hook with a deep bend to make the fly track right in the water. "Arms" is made from rubber legs, Marblefox and a white soft hackle. The eyemount is a 4mm Pro Softhead 4mm with Pro Cooleyes Orange to stand out from the bright white overall impression. The main body is white sock wool with Pro Flexiskin clear to add graphics. All the body is encapsulated in Loon UV Live. Simple but very effective all synthetic Shrimpfly, for Seatrout in the salt. Tied on the Mustad C52SNP #6 which is perfect for shrimp flies with excellent corrosion resistance. The body is Pro Angelhair in the color "cotton candy" for the mouth parts, and pearl green for the remaining body, both spun in a loop and brushed out. A Pro Shrimp shell on top locked with a 0,20mm mono rib and covered with Loon UV resin, it have all the characteristics to make a good saltwater fly. A set of 8cm easy to tie tube baitfish flies to cover most situation. All tied at the Micro tube which with the silicone hookguide is perfect for this simple style of flies where I want to control the direction of the hook, in this case a double hook pointed upwards to decrease the chance of snagging. Carefully balanced out with a XS 0,25 gr. Rawweight and the Softhead which in sinking rate is equivalent to a fast intermediate flyline, for optimum balance, and swimming characteristics.
