“God starts with a capital”
Final piece for now, this is my rendition of Morriss meets western. I wanted to create something that was in my style, not just slap a cowboy hat on a piece and call it a day. I think this feels true to who I am and my art, hopefully people like it too. I’ll scan it in later on.

2/19/2025 Zinefest theme this year is “western”. I’ve never actually joined the themes they vote on every year, but decided it be good to push myself out of my comfort zone. These are 2 potential sketches, I’m not sure how I feel about the design yet and I’m sure it’ll change for the final product.
I get seasonal depression during the summer time so I’m trying to get a head start for zinefest this year.

PLEASE SHARE! (I have attached the English and Spanish versions but MANY more languages are available at the attached link)
One way to support the undocumented community is by sharing resources, reminding individuals of their rights, and standing in solidarity with them. Here's one effective way to offer support: provide Know Your Rights cards to empower our communities.
You can print these cards for free! I am sharing a resource from the IRC, which can be downloaded and is available in multiple languages.
Let's work together to empower our communities!

1/22/25 I also wanted to talk about the importance of community work, now more than ever we need to help the immigrant community out. We need to use our resources to spread factual information, combating fear with preparedness.
I used my printer to print and hand cut and fold “immigrant rights cards. You can easily find them online, I found a pdf and used that to print out around 80. I also printed stickers of Elon saluting, because unfortunately this is the reality we’re in right now.
Please help your community! If you don’t have access to any of this stuff, check out your local library, or spread the knowledge that this stuff exists to your community who might not know about it.
The Zine community, the DYI community, will NEVER stand with the oppressor.

1/22 Its been nice having these two snowy days in Houston to reset my life and focus on my work. Tonight I took the opportunity to clean my thread box, first time cleaning and placing new stickers since 2015.

12/10/24 : “To hold the pursuit of truth in contempt by choosing to make our own path.”
To hold the pursuit of truth in contempt by choosing to make our own path" means to deliberately disregard the search for truth and instead actively decide to follow your own individual direction, even if it means going against established knowledge or accepted facts; essentially, prioritizing personal beliefs over the pursuit of objective reality.
This piece is composed of 2 separate pages. Page one has the devil, a green star of wisdom, a message, and a burnt match. The second page has a shadow of the hand of God, a blue star representing folly (biblical term), a message, and the shadow of the match. Both pages are brought together by the safety pin, this pins the green star to me.
The portrait used in this picture is one I took in a manic stage. The holidays are always hard for me, I feel like this happens every year, and it never gets easier.
I will scan this piece in later properly, but just wanted to post it early and explain some backstory to it.
If you took the time to read this thank you, it means a lot to me.

“Touched by God”
I accepted your will,
but it’s ok if I still cry right?
You could understand, right God?

My take on Cici my soulmate partner who passed a couple years ago. Inspired by Isle of Dogs by Wes Anderson.

Tender is the night for a broken heart, who will dry your eyes when it falls apart?
Started this Saturday but didn’t finish it until today, I guess the holidays are bit tough when you’re still grieving.
Space Song by Beach House is what I was listening to tonight as I painted.

“Maybe it’s safe to come home”
I get to work on my own personal art again which is relaxing. First time trying out a portrait w this color scheme and my first time using gouache paint. I don’t love it but it’s good to push myself out of my comfort zone.

Such a great turnout, I’m so happy I pushed myself to do this.
Looking forward to next years, I’ll definitely have more and better stock.
