4 Important Elements of Interior Designing
Interior designing is an important component of all residential and commercial architectures. It not only enhances the visual aesthetics of a space but also aids in making it functional by arranging things in an efficient and systematic manner.
According to the best architectural firms in India, a well and mannerly designed internal space brings people in contact with beauty, relaxation and modernism. It aids in the management of all necessary facilities (small and big) and makes people feel comfortable within a space.
As per the top architects in India, interior designing is a highly-skilled and creative occupation that involves a lot of art and scientific reasoning. The best-in-class interior designers work upon a set of informal rules specifically based on interior designing principles and elements.
Some important elements of interior designing include:
1. Space
Space is an essentially important element of interior designing. Since it serves as the foundation of an interior design plan, designers thoroughly evaluate it before initiating their work of art. They take note of all available dimensions and utilities before developing a plan. The best architects in India recognize spaces as two dimensional (that involves evaluation of length and width) or three dimensional (that involves evaluation of length, width and height). They further divide and evaluate the same as positive spaces (filled with elements) and negative spaces (empty space) in order to maintain an equilibrium between the two.
2. Line
Interior designers segregate lines as horizontal, vertical and dynamic to determine the design shape for establishing harmony, contrast and unity. These respective designed shapes then act as visual guides of an interior space. For example, horizontal lines are used for placement and designing of furniture’s while vertical lines are used in the designing of windows, doorways, etc.
3. Light
Approved and acclaimed by the top architectural firms in India, light is the most important element of any interior designing plan. Whether natural or artificial, light comprehends other interior design elements in order to enhance their significance in a space. According to studies, light is categorized as task lighting, accent lighting and mood lighting. Task lighting includes light source elements that have a defined purpose whereas accent lights are used for emphasizing objects in a space. Last but not the least, mood lighting refers to the ambient lights that illuminate the overall space.
4. Color
As per the top architects in Delhi, Color is another important element of interior designing that is influenced by various scientific reasoning and psychological effects. It establishes an aesthetic connection between objects and sets up the whole mood of the space. Highly-skilled interior designers take full advantage of colors psychology in stimulating physical and psychological responses of the people.
According to the best interior designers in India, Texture, Form and Pattern are other important elements that aid in the designing of a balanced and aesthetically pleasing interior space.

4 Ways to Maximize Space in Housing Apartments
The rise in population due to heavy migration has led to land shortage in the urban areas. With increased demand of housing and residential properties, the market is currently prone to significant rise in property prices.
According to the top housing architects in Mumbai, the financial capital of India is experiencing a massive surge in property rates with almost 7.5% increase between years 2013 and 2017. This increase in property prices often restricts the people from buying luxurious and big homes, as they settle for small space-efficient apartments.
Though these small budget-friendly apartments are unable to provide high-class amenities, they still leverage a great scope for maximizing space and enhancing the aesthetical value. With smart hacks and intelligent planning, people can transform their small-sized apartments into overwhelming adobes.
Some effective ways to maximize space in housing apartments include:
1. Maximizing Lights
Since light and space share a proportional relationship, apartments lit by natural light (sunlight) tend to seem spacious and airy. Lighting effectively creates illusions which cleverly convinces the mind and makes the room look bigger. There are various ways people can create room for natural light. Some include:
· Using bigger and personalized windows instead of light-blocking and shady ones
· Placing mirrors or objects with reflective surfaces
· Avoiding clutter of things in the room
· Maximizing indoor lighting with energy efficient appliances at night
There are various other measures that home owners can implement to make the space look bigger. But since natural light is free of cost, it remains to be the most cost-effective solution that evidently supports the idea of a sustainable architecture.
2. Zone Division
Dividing the apartment area into specialized zones helps to avoid clutter and makes the space look clean and bigger. By consulting the best housing architects in India, home owners can create a floor plan to section out areas in accordance with their need and relevance. Section divisions like dining area, sleeping area, study area, etc. make the process of arranging things easy. Home owners can also use curtains for dividing spaces.
3. Furniture Choices
Furniture occupies the maximum area in the apartment. Thus, it is important to arrange furniture in the best possible way to leave scope for extra space. Home owners should plan their room layout and buy furniture intelligently for smart utilization. Some smart changes with furniture include:
· Using space-efficient furniture like folding chairs, Lucite tables, wall desks, etc.
· Opting for multipurpose furniture like day beds
· Placing wall mounts and modular storages
· Incorporating bigger but lesser furnishing as large size furniture makes the room look bigger
Many home owners ignore the scope provided by vertical spaces for storage and arrangement of things. Thus in order to utilize vertical space to maximum potential, home owners should consult the best housing architects in India.
4. Wall Paint
Wall paint is the most important element that drives the aesthetics of a place. In order to make a place look bigger, home owners should paint their walls with light colors, preferably white. White color walls reflect and enhance the available light and make the room look bigger. They create a brighter base that makes the furniture and accessories to stand out.
The top residential architects in India believe that intelligent house planning and arrangement leverages an efficient scope for creativity. Home owners can consult best housing architects and combine their knack of creativity with smart, space-efficient concepts to redecorate their homes without burdening their pockets.

4 Ways to Make Offices Energy Efficient
The reports by Government of India (Ministry of Power) reveal concerning statistics with regards to the country’s energy consumption. It was claimed that energy demands in the country have been on a consistent rise, with the demand rising from 450 million toe (tonne of oil equivalent) in year 2000 to 770 million toe in year 2012. At this increasing rate, it is estimated that the figures may increase up to 1500 million toe by year 2030.
India is a growing economy with financially stable cities becoming home to numerous offices. According to reports by Shakti sustainable energy foundation, buildings account for around 30% of the country’s electricity consumption and the industry sector accounts for almost 40% of the same. With the growing need of energy efficiency, offices should be the first place to initiate a change.
Some of the best ways to make offices energy efficient include:
1. Programmable Thermostats
A large portion of electrical energy is used by heating and cooling application systems installed in offices. To limit energy consumption, concerned office authorities should encourage the use of programmable thermostats. Programmable thermostats can sense the physical environment and can effectively save electricity while maintaining comfortable temperatures by controlling heating or cooling conditions. They also have in-built programmable functions and override buttons for exceptional cases.
2. Lighting Upgrades
Lighting is an essential office element that also aims to improve the aesthetics of the office space. Choosing an efficient and improved lighting system guarantees energy savings with reduced maintenance costs. Concerned authorities should restrict the use of traditional incandescent bulbs and replace them with energy efficient options like LED’s and CFL’s. With incorporation of energy efficient lighting systems, offices can save up to 25-80% of energy with lowered maintenance costs in addition.
3. Sleep Modes on Electronics
Offices comprise of various electronic appliances like computers, laptops, printers, etc. These appliances usually have sleep settings that put them in low power mode after a certain duration of inactivity. While many appliances comprehend it automatically, some may require a manual change of settings. Although a small alteration, experts believe that the practice can save around 3.5 thousand rupees (50$) per computer on an annual basis.
4. Other Approaches
There are several compact approaches and ways that office authorities can implement to substantially reduce energy use and save money simultaneously. Some of them include:
· Using energy star-qualified products
· Switching to laptops from personal computers
· Using new and small refrigerators
· Consolidating printers
· Using power strips
Worrying figures with regard to energy consumption indicate towards an urgent need of energy efficiency in the country. While it is the fastest and cheapest way to reduce energy consumption, it also aims at reducing the carbon pollution. However, it is important for office authorities to consult only the best commercial architects in Mumbai who have years of experience in following sustainable architecture practices in order to ensure the designing of energy efficient office spaces with reduced carbon emissions.

Practicing Sustainable Architecture when Designing Modern Institute Buildings
The last few years have witnessed sustainability becoming the gold standard in the architecture, construction, and planning, of institutional buildings and campuses. The integration of eco-friendly and green features provides users a cleaner, healthier, and comfortable spatial environment.
From passive cooling strategies and energy-efficient fixtures, to waste disposal and water harvesting mechanisms, practicing sustainable architecture can greatly enhance user experience while ensuring ecological sensitivity. We’re living in a world with limited resources and energy and it is imperative for architects to ensure that their use in buildings is sensibly optimized.
Let us now look at some sustainable architecture practices that modern institutional buildings can incorporate within their design:
1. Rain Water Harvesting
Water scarcity is increasingly becoming a concern across the world. In this scenario, integrating rainwater harvesting strategies within the design of college campuses makes sense. It will allow the collection of large amounts of water, which can then be used for a variety of purposes. This provides a year-round water supply, helping the institute cut down on its water bills. College campuses are usually spread out over a large area, and if the rainwater harvesting system is designed well, it can easily cater to the water needs of all residents.
2. Sewage Treatment Plant
Ecological sensitivity is of the utmost importance while designing a building or a campus today. Untreated sewage should never leave the site and contribute to the pollution of groundwater or the larger water resources of the city. Installing a sewage treatment plant on site helps in this regard. The treated greywater that comes out of this process can be used for flushing, laundry, as well as irrigation purposes, helping preserve freshwater resources and enriching the nutrient value of soil.
3. Solar Panels
Passive solar designs that use the Sun’s energy for heating and cooling can help reduce dependency on mechanical means of air conditioning. This can contribute towards lowering the overall operating cost of the institution in the longer run. Furthermore, college campuses have large and expansive roofs, which allow for easy installation of solar panels. This can provide a reliable, unlimited source of clean energy. Installing them in institutional buildings can help generate considerable amounts of power to meet a significant proportion of the energy needs of the campus.
4. Zero-waste Model
Installing separate dustbins for dry and wet waste can help develop a zero-waste model for an institutional campus. Waste segregation allows the administration to systematically eliminate toxicity and the volume of waste materials while recovering all resources.
College campuses designed using sustainable architecture practices can provide residents a cleaner and healthier living environment, while ensuring minimal ecological degradation. Therefore, college administrations should opt for the top institutional architects in India who have rich experience in designing sustainable institutional buildings.

How to Make a Smart Decision While Buying a Home
Buying a home is one of the most important decisions in a person’s life. People save money throughout their lives to buy their dream homes. While purchasing a property can be an emotionally gratifying experience, it doesn’t take long for the investment to go bad if the decision is made in haste. Quite often, the emotional excitement of buying a dream home leads to people not being able to make rational decisions.
Making a property investment requires prior thought and several steps of preparation. Let us now look at some important things that a smart home buyer should keep in mind while making a decision on a new property:
1. Stay Calm
Being in a hurry when investing in a property can prove to be a costly mistake. Buying a home is one of the biggest investments in the life of a person. It is critical, therefore, to take some time to research options in the market thoroughly; you don’t want to go through the long and tiring process of buying a home only to have to sell it sometime later. You should try to get your decision right in the first attempt itself, even if it takes a considerable amount of time to do so.
2. Know Your Preferences
It is important for a smart home buyer to know what exactly they’re looking for in a property before making a decision. People have different tastes when it comes to property – what suits one person might not suit another. For instance, people who are nearing their retirement age would be better off taking a shorter loan tenure whereas people who have just begun their career should opt for a longer loan repayment tenure. Also, to avoid regrets later, one needs to be sure of all the amenities they want in a housing society. A person should assess their situation, and if necessary, take the advice of experts to make an informed decision.
3. Go for the Top Housing Architects in India
This is always a good bet. Housing societies developed by the best residential architects in India provide residents a better, cleaner, and healthier living environment. These residential societies have all the amenities that are required by residents to live a peaceful life. Further, societies developed by the top landscape architects in India have a vast expanse of greenery which allows residents to breathe in fresh air and stay healthy.
4. Know Your Budget
People often get carried away when buying their dream homes and end up making decisions that are emotional rather than rational. It is important to stay within your budget while buying a home, and not make a decision that will hurt your pocket.
While all these points play an important role in ensuring that you make an informed decision while buying your dream home, it also makes sense to choose a home in a housing society developed by the best sustainable design architects. This can save you from a lot of frustration later in your life.

7 Advantages of Owning a Home in a Small City
While metropolises offer a multitude of opportunities and modern luxuries, living in a small city has its unique set of perks–a relaxed pace of life, more intimate communities, and increased access to the natural environment.
Let us now look at some of the advantages of owning a home in a small city:
1. Affordable
Nowadays, the top housing architects in India are developing residential communities in small cities, which provide world-class amenities to their residents. In smaller cities, real estate is affordable and you can easily buy a large-sized property at a cost which is at par or even less than that of a small apartment in a larger city.
2. Ideal Place for Start Ups
Small cities are an ideal place for starting a new business as the cost of investment–commercial rents and cost of hiring employees–is relatively lower. Therefore, they provide better prospects for a business to reap higher profits.
3. Fresh Air
Usually sited within an expanse of green, small cities offer residents clean and fresh air to breathe. The lower levels of noise and air pollution ensure that people living in these areas stay fit, healthy, and energized.
4. No Traffic Issues
Unlike bigger cities where parking is increasingly becoming a major problem, smaller cities provide ample parking space due to a lesser number of vehicles. Residents don’t have to worry about the traffic; they are free to move in and out of their homes whenever they want.
5. Beautiful Landscape
Small cities provide the perfect opportunity for the best residential architects in India to showcase their design skills and creativity. They allow the top landscape architects in India to effectively utilize the large space available for developing beautiful landscapes, offering peaceful living environments to all residents.
6. Low Cost of Living
The lower cost of transport, food items, and groceries, makes smaller cities a more affordable place to live, helping people save money.
7. Shorter Travel Times
An additional advantage of living in small cities is that almost everything you could need on a regular basis is situated in the vicinity of your home. As commuting times are shortened, people get to spend more time with their family and friends.
Several residential complexes are coming up in smaller cities these days. It is important, however, as a buyer to only opt for housing societies developed by the top architects in India. Their focus on sustainable architecture practices can provide you and your family with healthier and more peaceful living environments.

Architecture Trends To Look Out For In 2018
Function follows form. Form follows function.
Whether you believe in the former or the latter, they both have led the best architecture firms in India towards innovation, enabling them to create marvels inspired by different forms of the environment. Architecture has the power to impact the society as a whole, which in turn gives birth to a new rising trend that becomes the shape we live amidst. As we move ahead in the year 2018, let us take a look at a few trends to watch out for.
• People are moving towards cities in search of a better job or lifestyle, resulting in space crunch. The solution to this is a combination of public and private spaces; erasing fixed designated areas marked for industrial, commercial, and residential purpose and merging them to keep transportation to a minimum.
• Building Information Modelling (BIM) is the new trend which is here to stay and grow manifold. It is a 3D computer-based model comprising of all the assets of a building, physical and functional, at one place, allowing everyone from architects to engineers to construction workers to manage and process all the information. This enables better, smarter and seamless collaboration between all those concerned with the project.
• Until now, architecture was looking at a way to fill a void, something to fill in the blank space. While the focus stayed on the physical space available, not much thought went into how people would interact with the available physical space. Presently, the thought process is taking a shift, wherein architecture firms are planning based on the interactions that can take place between the space and the inhabitants.
• Parametric Architecture is another evolving trend that defines the relationship between a design's intent and a design's response by making use of geometric shapes and algorithms. A new discipline within urban designs that perfectly combines traditional architecture with technological advances.
• The open space layout has progressively brought the living and the dining areas of a home together, converting them from a formal space to an informal area. This trend of de-formalizing homes has increased an emphasis on outdoor living.
• Green terrace, green roof, green walls, green bridges, and the likes have taken eco-friendliness to a new level. Not just on the outside of a building, but this trend can be seen making a place for itself inside the buildings too. You can expect indoor parks along with micro-climate in the coming months.
• Colours are known to evoke responses that can be biological, stylish, symbolic, etc., from people who interact with each other within an environment. The emerging trend focuses towards using both bold and neutral colours in combination that may come from personal experiences of the inhabitants.
A true architect is a visionary who foresees the need of the future and redefines design, creating new trends as he/she moves along. These trends along with emerging technologies is sure to reshape our future in a marvelous way.

How to Prepare Your Lawn for the Winter Chill
You would never want to lose your lawns to the freezing temperature of the winter. In some of the coldest parts of India, people usually have to entirely replace portions of their lawn due to the damage caused by chilling winter cold. The process of preparing your lawns from the winterkill is known as winterisation. Winterisation serves two basic purposes. It saves the lawn from the freezing winter cold and helps the lawn recover later in the springs. So, let us have a look at what top residential architects in India suggest about how to prepare your lawn for the winter chill.
Pulling out the weeds
Use your hand weeder or the spade to remove the weeds completely from the roots. Weeds grow automatically and keep on spreading to other areas of your landscape during winter. Excessive growth of weeds damages your lawn. You can use these weeds to prepare compost.
Raking and cleaning
Almost all plants, including your lawn, go dormant during the winter. When winter is at its peak, mowing the lawn is not going to help. Regular raking and cleaning is what your lawn needs at this time. Rake up the leaves and other plant parts that keep on falling throughout the winter. This debris accumulates on the grass making it smoother and develop dead patches in the upcoming spring.
Aeration
Aeration is an essential part in preparing your lawn for the winter chill. Aeration allows more air, moisture and water to penetrate the surface of the lawn and push them through to the roots of the grass. You can use an aeration tool for this purpose. Aeration develops small holes that will enable the grass to grow deeper and stronger next spring.
Feeding your lawn
Best architects in India suggest feeding your lawn with a good amount of nutrients to prepare it for the winter. Prepare a mix of sand, soil and the fertilisers along with weed-killing substances and grub killers. Penetrate the mix through the aeration holes deep to the roots of the grass. The grass comes up healthy, green and strong in the springs.
Seek the help of landscape architects
If all these seem too tasking, you can call landscape or residential architects in India for your help. They possess the right knowledge and skill to save your beautiful lawn from the chilling winter in the best way.
If you follow the above-mentioned tips, you will certainly save your lawn from falling prey to the winterkill.

Designing a College Campus - Keeping in Mind the Future
While everything around us is changing rapidly, yet the only thing permanent in this world is ‘Change’ itself. From science to architecture, medicine to arts, every day, there are new discoveries made and at times, such discoveries completely rejig the existing structure itself. With such changes reshaping the ideologies and restructuring how the world works, education is in continuous transition as well.
For students, courses don’t mean degrees alone now, it is more of a comprehensive approach, where their goals are to learn and grow with time and build themselves as leaders in their field. Researches and studies take them online and the world shrinks up in their palms, in such conditions, the colleges need to offer more and more, be it in terms of education or the structure itself. From addressing real world problems to offering a nurturing environment, there is a lot to be changed and to be offered.
Here is a glimpse of what is the future of the college campus:
Deliver the needed: The most important thing for all the professionals, whether the top architects or young, is the fact that they need to understand the need of the students. What exactly is their future, how are they planning it and for delivering such goals, what infrastructure they would be requiring. This planning will enable the firms to deploy plans in a manner that will help in long term.
Classrooms: The word classroom gives an image of a square room with rows of desks and chairs, and that is what a regular architecture plan treats it like. But, this is changing towards better, and getting an upgrade. In the future classes will be held outside the classrooms, in the corridors, in parks, inner space of monuments and what not. The top architecture firms in India believe in the same and to make it a reality they try to find ways to take down the walls and make classes more about living and interactive experiences.
A city like structuring: The manner in which urban planners design a city, where things are well connected, similarly the multiple structures inside a campus need to be well connected as well. This will be the top goal for sustainable architecture across any city, be it Delhi, Mumbai or Bangalore. The campus in the future to come shall be well-connected, resilient, healthy and inspiring. The requirement of this will be the need of the hour, as in the future, everything will be connected to everything on a much broader platform, from vehicles to structures, creating a better and sustainable society.
Greener the better: The young and the restless, as it is said, students need motivation and inspiration to lead and create. And there is nothing better than the nature to inspire and guide. The college campus of the future not only shall go greener, but also will need the incorporation of green technologies. This will help in 2 ways, firstly in conserving the environment, and secondly, in inspiring the youth to follow the same and contribute towards the cause in an individual manner. As believed, a change comes from within, a greener campus will bring about the much required redressal towards a better environment. This can include the installation of active and passive solar heating technologies, zero carbon emissions, low waste production models and modular constructions.
Treatment of waste: It is evident with rising population, waste material is multiplying manifolds, while the area is limited. It is much needed to consider proper waste management processes, in order to manage the limitation of the area. The campuses shall have dedicated waste management and treatment plants to process the produced waste. Furthermore, the used water shall be treated completely before draining, if not made potable again through various processes. These methods will aid in the grooming of a better future for the campus, and the world at large, while serving the duty of a considerate college towards global issues.
Renewability: With the downfall of natural resources with every passing day, it has rather turned more of a need of the hour to conserve such resources and turn towards renewable sources of energy. Following the same protocols in the construction of college campuses, by adopting renewable sources for the production of energy. These renewable energy installations will change the overall overview and the landscape of the campuses. In addition to this, these installations will convey a deeper message to the world at large for making sustainable moves, and portraying a stronger image of the campus being future-oriented, researched oriented and forward looking.
The changes will continue to occur and things will update, pace is meant to be kept in order to deliver the best, adapt and grow in the competitive arena. And for creating a better world in the future to come, the campuses have to begin today, shaping the youth and grooming the world accordingly.
