Monster
This week and next I am taking a break from Fetch to draw less demanding cartoons during the holiday season, leaving me more time to spend with family and friends. Today we have a somewhat oblique allusion to the recent media coverage of the public’s ghoulish but understandable glee over the murder of a health insurance CEO. For the record, I don’t think shooting CEOs, no matter how exploitative…

Who did the cat let out of the bag? Or really, he let himself out. The changeling will give Fetch a run for his money in the making of mischief. Let’s see how this goes. Given the context is what should have been a very brief return to 2020 to retrieve the Changeling and return him to the Otherworld, the potential for havoc should have Fetch concerned.

I admit that it looks kinda cozy: a flaming hearth, some Scottish football, and some tea. I’d add some stew, but a redcap like Duncan would prefer his meal a bit more raw. And moving.

Work On This
Yes, this actually happened — except for the input by Fetch, a cartoon character, the rest is true. I have pages written after this one, but for some reason I never got around to dealing with the placeholder in the script. Oops. New page next week.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I have been distracted by the election, so I have been posting these pages later than I had intended. I usually aim for Wednesday mornings, but yesterday morning was spent poring over election results and trying to parse voter intentions. And processing a lot of emotions. But this page catches us up to the latest page and I aim to get next week’s page up on…

Sometimes you gotta take matters into your own hands. I have fallen behind posting new pages despite having kept up on them. The election has been really distracting. I apologize for that. This week’s page will be posted soon.

Digital Sketchbook: Immediate Response
“Immediate Response” I drew this before going to bed last night. I actually have this week’s Fetch update ready to go, but I’ve been so distracted by recent events that I forgot to post it. I’ll do so soon.Anyway, I’m pissed. You’re probably pissed, too. After the initial shock wears off I plan to get more organized and prepare for how to best protect and support my loved ones and communities.…

All the Ails That Cure Us — Page 1
The time disparity between our world and the Otherworld is always a puzzle to sort out. In many stories of the Fae, an errant adult or abducted child who has spent only a short time among the Fae will upon returning home find that months, possibly years have passed. In our story, Fetch has traveled back and forth, skipping between different parts of the last few years. When Fetch left our world…

Chapter 7 - All Ails that Cure Us - Cover
A new chapter, a new cover. Eventually when I get this to print, I will use these covers to divide the chapters. Their style has changed over the years, reflecting different moods and settings I want to establish.

So ends the sixth chapter. The next chapter will start pretty soon, because the cover and the first page are already in the bag. I have been so busy at work I have been delayed in posting finished pages here. I apologize for that. I am actually more productive than my posting frequency would indicate. I’m trying to rectify that by setting alarms in my calendar. ADHD coping tools ftw.

Many thanks to Celtic folklore for establishing puddles as portals between the lands of the fae and the human. It makes for a handy storytelling device. Of course, it doesn’t account for the time differences between the two realms, but that’s a problem for the next chapter.
