silliest travel story ever incoming

so back in January me and my sister applied for the same conference for a laugh (actually she's dead serious about it and im doing it for the bit) and we both got in. so we were booking travel to the conference city separately bc she lives/works in italy and coincidentally we could both do a layover via Amsterdam with the same flight.

we both get nervous about layovers but we had two hours and landed simultaneously so we keep joking about fighting the gate staff to keep the gate open for the other.

so yesterday I am IN my first plane when they announce that the mist outside is freezing the runway so much that they're closing the airport for an hour. so i have to wait IN the plane for an hour or more. I immediately ask the flight attendants whether there's other flights o could take (yes, pfew) but I'm still sad bc I was really looking forward to taking a flight with my sister, I fly alone so much for work and stuff now.

so we finally take off by the time we should've been landing in Amsterdam and my sister lands there 5min later. the new ETA is the time the gate closes so i pray the next flight is delayed but don't have any hope. midair they start announcing which flight connections were missed and which are short connections now and mine keeps being skipped so I'm like ???? I'm super nervous and sad. but then they start announcing flights with new departures times and!!! my flight is indeed delayed but departs from the same gate as that we arrive at!!! I look at my boarding passes and it's not the same plane so I am confusion but whatever I have a slimmer of hope. I text my sister midair so she gets those texts as soon as we land.

well. we land and I turn off airplane mode and GUESS WHAT the next plane needed repairs so THE SECOND FLIGHT WAS NOW THE SAME PLANE I WAS CURRENTLY IN. they literally couldn't depart before we landed!!! a fucking miracle a beautiful coincidence a scenario you couldn't even imagine!!!! I see all the texts coming in of my sister stressing and going up to the flight staff to see if she can take a flight later with me and being told before she's finished her sentence BY THE PILOT that there's no worries since she needs that plane!!! and then her and my family laughing about it because I don't know anything yet and am stressing tf out midair!! I am shaking laughing waiting to disembark and walk off laughing and then we embrace in front of the entire crew of the next flight laughing and they all heard about us and are laughing with us and im sure it was a spectacle but it was like a moment from a movie. just god getting silly with it for once
