astro observations

these are all based on my observations and opinions, it could be that smth doesn’t resonate with you. this is also my first time doing this, so i hope you guys will like it :)

- scorpio risings tend to have bad eyesight because of aries (ruling the eyes) in their 6th house (of health)

- pisces placements aren’t that emotional since they are escapists, most of the pisces placements don’t want to face their problems/emotions

- leo moons can be really insecure and don’t feel like god at all unlike other leo placements

- a lot of people with higher function jobs/people that are famous (biden, trump, even charli d’amelio) have at least 1 T-square and/or a yod, most have multiple and it’s also common for them to have a grand trine too

- most virgo’s i know personally are actually quite emotional (on the inside) contradicting to the cold stereotype, especially if there’s mutual, fire or water energy involved

- capricorn suns are actually kinda extroverted, while capricorn moons fit the ‘always working’ stereotype better

- the north node in sidereal astrology (Rahu) stands for your obsessions and aggression, so in tropical astrology you can also look at your north node for obsessions

- while trines are really harmonious, sextiles can trigger the placements and kinda wake them up

- cancer placements are stereotypical crybabies, but cancer is ruled by mothers, so these placements are actually more caring and nurturing as well as emotional

- the ascendant is usually described as your mask to the world, but it’s actually more about your souls purpose and lessons you need to learn

aspect patterns in astrology

every chart has aspects, and those aspects can fall into a pattern. probably the most well-known is the grand trine. the element or modality in which the pattern falls is also important for the meaning, so i’ll explain the 4 most important patterns (imo) (and a bonus one :P) with elements and modality explanation and how it’s formed.

i also made a key at the bottom of the post if you don’t know the meaning of elements, modality, polarity, or if you don’t know the signs of fixed, fire, feminine etc.

if you don’t know if you have any patterns in your chart, you can simply find it on https://astro-charts.com/, fill in your info and scroll down a bit (it should under the normal aspects), if you don’t have any aspect pattern, you won’t see this section (you might also have a pattern i won’t explain, such as a stellium).

i also recommend to google the patterns, since it’s kinda hard to explain on paper what they look like.

grand trine

the grand trine is formed when 3 planets make a trine between 3 different signs (≈ 120º), usually in the same element.

the grand trine is a very powerful pattern because the trines strengthen each other. even tho the grand trine encourages talent and expression, a thing that is overlooked a lot is that there is a lack of tension, which can make the person have increased self-awareness, especially if there is a lack of square and oppositions in general.

fire grand trines: this makes you a proud and enthusiastic person, you are creative and like to express yourself. but be careful, because this pattern can make you have a god complex (because the grand trine is the strongest in the element of fire), which can be damaging to others.

earth grand trines: you have a good sense of stability and security of yourself and others and you hold a lot of power. people with a grand trine in earth signs tend to be organized and are creatively resourceful.

air grand trines: you are very curious and idealistic and you have a broad view on life. you’re also very intellectual and easy going. people with a grand trine in air signs also tend to have a lot of friends.

water grand trines: this pattern makes you highly intuitive and very creative. you are empathic and understand others quite easily. you have broad imagination, and also this grand trine can make you idealistic and a dreamer.

grand square/T-square

since the grand square and T-square are really alike and share many things, i decided to combined to two.

the grand square, also known as grand cross, forms when a planet squares (≈ 90º) two planets (in different signs) and also opposites (≈ 180º) a third planet. so that it forms 4 squares with 2 oppositions, making a big cross and square.

the T-square does the same, except it misses one of the squares, which also means it doesn’t have the second opposition. it’s called a T-square because people say it forms a T, but i personally don’t really see that, so i’d rather describe it as a triangle with 2 squares and an opposition (i’m sorry if this description is chaotic, it’s kind hard to explain, so I recommend to look it up (just google ‘T-square astrology’) or check if you have a T-square on astro-charts).

what they have in common is that they both have oppositions and squares, which can be very challenging. the other thing that makes them alike is that the planets (usually) fall in the same modality. having a grand cross or T-square makes you in general very goal orientated and you are willing to work hard to achieve your dreams. it could also make you want to have power and control.

cardinal grand cross or T-square: with the cardinal energy in this pattern, you want to achieve your goals all at the same time, which makes you ambitious but also blinded by what you want to achieve. these people are natural leaders and like having power. this pattern can also make you disoriented, because your ideals can be quite contradictory.

fixed grand cross or T-square: this can be a very hard pattern, due to the lack of flexibility, you want to be secure in everything you do. even tho it can be hard for others, this pattern also makes you very strong, determined and high self-worth (this pattern gives me so much royal vibes ngl). you like your comfort, but in order to move forward, you have to learn to go with the flow sometimes.

mutual grand cross or T-square: a grand cross/T-square in this modality makes you a person that’s very focused on healing, reasoning, teaching and integrating. with your thoughts and emotions. unlike the fixed pattern, you have a strong desire to just go with the flow, but make sure you don’t wander around your ideas and that you stay focused on your goal. this pattern can also make you very spiritual and interested in witchy things.

mystic rectangle

this kinda rare rectangle forms with 2 sextiles (≈ 60º), 2 trines (≈ 120 º) and 2 oppositions (≈ 180º) forming a rectangle with each other. this is a quite mild and harmonious pattern, because it balanced with either feminine or masculine energy. as long there’s not too much energy focused on only one of the planets, it should make you a very mindful person. if the balance is off, you can become self-contained and crave and hold too much power. a wedge is a half rectangle (so 1 sextile, 1 trine, 1 opposition) and is quite common unlike the rectangle. it’s also definitely not as powerful, but you can still share the same traits that a rectangle has.

masculine rectangle: you’re probably quite extroverted and like to explore the world. you express your energy outwards and like to entertain others. your actions are powerful and strong and you like adventures.

feminine rectangle: great change that you’re an introvert. you like to explore your own mind and express your energy inwards. your mind is vivid and powerful. if there’s strong mercury influences, it can also make you quite smart.

yod (bonus)

the yod, also known as the finger of god, forms with a planet that makes two quincunxes with different signs (≈ 150 º) and a sextile (≈ 60 º) between those signs. it doesn’t hold a certain energy through an element, modality or polarity like the others, so that’s why it’s a bonus. In general, the yod is a very very challenging pattern, but with lots of learning and growing it’ll make you very spiritual and aware (like god or smth :P). there will be a certain ongoing theme in your life, which is usually a difficult theme, it will take time, skill and practise to grow out of this certain theme. Look at the planets (and houses!!!) involved in the yod to know where you should put your focus on in life in order to overgrow the difficulty.

Chart rulers (in the houses)

The chart ruler of a natal chart, is the planet that is ruled by the ascendant. Since the ascendant is also associated with the soul’s purpose, the chart ruler is a very important planet, since it takes action for the ascendant and therefore rules the chart. So, where your chart ruler falls is quite important, and the same for aspects to it.

2nd house/taurus/aspect with venus: You value stability, comfort and security in life. You’re focused on your purpose and want to get there the ‘right way’, but remember that all ways are the right one, since it’s your life, mistakes happen. You might not always be motivated, but don’t let that influence your self image.

3rd house/gemini/aspect with mercury: Curiosity, knowledge and restlessness describe your soul’s purpose pretty good. You approach life quite active, but also very observing. The great conjunction

As many might know, the rare conjunction between jupiter and saturn, aka the great conjunction, will happen again on the winter solstice on December 21st at about 6:20 pm GMT. Even though it’s still a few days away, the effects are already being felt by many. Especially natives with capricorn placements between 27’00° and 30’00° (and cardinal placements at these degrees) and aquarius placements between 00’00°- 03’00° (and fixed placements at these degrees), but the effects will vary depending in what house of the chart is falls.

Since the conjunction will happen at 00’29° of aquarius, this conjunction is all about new beginnings and manifestation, also because this conjunction occurred 3 times this year (because of retrogrades), where this one on the 21st of December is the last. In general, the next 20 years (until the conjunction happens again) will be about new beginnings.

1st house:

You’re ready for refreshment, and you’ll definitely need it too. 2nd house:

okay, so first of all, this is a transit post, which means it’s not about your natal house. i use the app ‘charts’ to see the current transits of the planets and in which houses the planets fall.

example: it’s currently the beginning libra season, which means the sun is in my 11th house, since my 11th house is from 23° of virgo to 18° of libra.

transit sun in your:

1st house: this is the time te recharge yourself for the coming sun cycle. when the sun is located here, it’s time to take care of yourself, build some confidence and express yourself. this is also a good time for manifestations.

2nd house: it’s time to set boundaries. when the sun is located here, you’re more in charge of your life then when the sun is located in other houses, because of the things you enjoy doing. this is also a good time to reassure your own psychological needs.

3rd house: when the sun shifts into your 3rd house, the main focus will be on social contact. it’s to to think about the people you enjoy being around and what treats they have in common. it’s also a good time to tell people what your needs are.

ixion is an astroid that is a lot like pluto, huya and varuna (from my previous posts). ixion was a greek mortal but was treated like a god. but when he committed a crime, he got banned to the tartarus. everyone was disgusted by him for doing this bad thing. he felt so bad about the way he was treated, since he used to be treated like a god. this was a big weak spot and lesson for him.

ixion in astrology is about your weak spot, something you’re just simply unable to do. as long as you admit that this thing is not for you, nothing bad will happen. ixion just shows you where you need a teacher, and where it’s okay to seek for help, nothing the be ashamed about. ixion is exalted in aries.

1st house: this placement can indicate insecurities about the way you look. maybe it’s the way your dress or just your body in general. let others help you to find your style, since this can be very important for you. also tru to care less about how others view you, only your opinion about yourself is worth listening to.

varuna was one of the gods of the sun from an unknown folk. these sun gods had to protect the world from the chaos. this folk lived around the vedic time period, a time where among other things vedic astrology came from. vedic means something like ‘to know’ or ‘knowledge’ and corresponds with the latin word ‘videre’ which means ‘to see’.

varuna in the birth chart is about being present and alert or where your attention is focused. varuna is exalted in leo and libra. where varuna is located in your chart is where you’re in touch with your higher being, but only after you all your fears, sadness and desires are absorbed and transformed into a door for you to open and for you to be able to visit the universe.

huya is an astroid not that far away from pluto. huya’s mythological name is juyà or juyakai. the name huya originates from the rain god from the wayuu folk in venezuela.

huya in your birth chart is all about stress and mental disfunction caused by too much pressure. you have to look at your way of acting where huya is located in you chart. there where huya is, is time for relaxation.

house systems in astrology

house systems are the different ways the houses can be divided in a birth chart. this is important because a certain placement might fall in another house when using a different system. which system you use is up to your liking! here are different descriptions for some of the systems that exist.

equal systems

in these systems the houses are exactly 30° degrees apart from eachother, but the starting point differences. that means your midheaven could fall in the 9th or 11th because it’s seen as a point in the sky, comparable with planets.

whole sign

this system is used in both hellenistic and vedic astrology. in this system, the first house start at 0° of the sign where your ascendant falls in. e.g. if your ascendant is at 14° of libra, your first house starts at 0° of libra. your next house falls at 0° degrees of the following sign, in this case in scorpio at 0°.

equal house

this system uses the degree of your ascendant as the starting point of your first house. e.g. if your ascendant is at 14° of libra, your first house starts at 14° of libra too. your next houses will also start at 14° of that sign. in this case the second house will start at 14° of scorpio.

equal midheaven

this system is way lesser used then equal house, but it’s basically the same, except the degree of your midheaven is used instead. if your midheaven is at 23° of cancer, your first house will start at 23° of libra (whichs also means your ascendant could fall in the 12th! just like your midheaven in the equal house system, the ascendant is just seen as a point in the sky).

unequal systems

these systems are more commonly used. the first house always starts at the degree if your ascendant, and your 10th house will always start at the degree of your midheaven. to properly calculate the houses, exact time and place of birth are required!

placidus

the placius system is the most common used house system in western astrology. the 2th, 3th, 11th and 12th house are calculated from the angle of the earth and the paths drawn from IC and MC to the horizon (this is too much physics for me, so im not going into great detail of that). a really important note is this system is that this might be mot as accurate if your birth place is above or below 66° of the equator, since these points have ‘never touched the horizon’. if your born more towards the the artic, you might have to consider using a different systems, since placidus can’t be calculated effectively.

porphyry

this system is calculated by equally dividing the points between the ascendant and IC for the 2th, 3th, 8th and 9th and by equally dividing the points between the ascendant and MC for the 5th, 6th, 11th and 12th house.

koch

this system is a more complicated version of the placidus system. this system can only be used from places between the equator and 66° north and 66° south, but will give more defined results when used.
