“The Massacre at Bahleg”

"They came four times, the vile occultists of the degenerate Academium. Three times the Kozmologists came with demand for surrender. They asked for us to step aside so that they may lay waste to our city, raze it to the ground. They claimed that that here, under our city, lie remnants of an old world. The names and details of said ruins were uttered in their heinous tongues, not fit for the ears of men. Swiftly and aggressively we bade them to leave. The fourth time they descended from the sky, seven of them; wrapped in their golden cloth and chanting their maddening verses. No spell or incantation could halt the primordial eldritch craft that they possessed. We would go mad. Our ears would bleed at their speech whilst our city was leveled to the ground. What the heinous artificers released that day from under our city was pure folly. After the completion of their campaign, the madness remained. It ravaged our lands and spread northward, slowly. Few of us survived, largely soldiers, few civilians. We fled, led by Hamir, third and last living son of our now dead ruler. 'I will take back our home' he said 'with me I will take a family of men and I will strike the sprawling chaos at its heart.' Hamir and his chosen champions travelled to Bahleg. The madness disappeared soon after but he and his companions were never found. Still to this day we feel it below us, perhaps we are paranoid. Perhaps it lays under us still, sleeping."
