Hey, speaking of Sun/Moon's fingers, they have a model of both, along with some of the others on Sketchfab. They're the ones credited to Steel Wool. Everyone else has 4 fingers but the security bots and map bot, which have 3. Also neat to point out: Chica is the only one without claws on both the hands and feet, Monty and Roxy are the only 2 with tails, Freddy is the only one without clothes (only a bowtie) and I'm pretty sure all the walking endos are Freddy endos based on the ears & shoulders.
Tumblr media
About the endos, I have seen someone else point out that the first one you encounter is very likely to be a Bonnie endo, based on the ears mostly! (They compared Bonnie’s actual endo to that endo and they were basically identical as far as you could see) But it would be interesting to theorize upon further!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yes, Sun/Moon do have... a lot of scratches and wear and tear, but as you said, I think it is more so just the fact that they aren’t a brand new animatronic and also probably do not get maintained as well as the main crew, who need to look perfect as they are the main attraction. The scratches do not look that extreme, so I do not think there is much more to it than that.
Tumblr media
And yes! It does look like there is a moon symbol with something of a triangle sign. I can't for sure see what the triangle is, but I can go along with your danger warning. If that is the case, that would mean the makers knew Moon was dangerous from the start, and that ofcourse would bring the question as to, why did they even make Moon?
Now for the casing, I disagree that it would be wood, it would simply not be a good choice as Sun/Moon are made to interact with kids and wood is hard and can leave splinters, not to mention it would be bulky and just impractical to use for an animatronic. At best I would agree that they are made of metal, but personally I believe that there is even a soft padding around their metal so they cannot accidentally hurt kids. Imagine a kid throws themself at Sun/Moon, if they were hard metal like Glamrock Freddy for example, they would injury themself immediately.
What is interesting to note is that Sun/Moon are the only ones who wear clothing that is not part of their casing! While Roxy, Chica, Monty, et cetera wear clothing it looks to be made of the same material as their casing and I think they are unable to take it off. Sun/Moon their clothing looks far more ‘normal’ and fabric-like! Just an interesting detail.

Well personally I think there is a difference in the way the other animatronics hunt for you in the beginning of the game and the end of the game!
At the beginning its clear they are just trying to capture you and the jumpscare when they get you are a lot less intense; they are trying to get you because Vanessa and/or Vanny told them to.
But at the end of the game they are a lot more aggressive, wanting to seriously harm or even kill you, the jumpscare when they get you is also a lot more intense. They are now driven by personal motives too, they're out for revenge and depending on the character other (personal) factors as well!
Because, as much as I like Gregory and think he acted quite appropriately in regards to the situation, from the other animatronics point of view he seriously harmed them/their friends and just in general wronged them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sun/Moon have the most 'human-like' designed hands of all animatronics. They have five fingers, human shaped hand palm and all the knuckles humans have. I wonder if there is an actual reason for this, or just a coincidental something...
A headcanon I quite like and can see is actually canon is that they are programmed with sign language and therefore need human like hands, since that obviously is what sign language is based on. But other than that I know no logical reason... It's not particularly needed for their character design, like Freddy who has paws because he is a bear, but it's also not the type of hands they fall back on when there is no such requirement. Look at the security bots for example (though that may not be a completely fair comparison in some way), they do not have human-like hands.
While it may not have any huge significance I wonder if there is any canon reason for them to have such hands...

Yeah you bring up a good point for that first thing! A lot of the things they do are pretty fickle and would probably need hands that can have a bit more accuracy than the average animatronics.
For the personality thing I do not think Sun was not affected, his personality as shown in the game too would not be very good for kids, therefore I think it has been tampered with too. What I think happened is all animatronics that got messed with by Vanny got pushed to the extremes in their personality. So Sun probably was excited and probably a bit hyper, but now he is essentially anxious to make sure you have your attention on him at all times and constantly needs to make sure he is entertaining you. And for Moon, he was probably designed to help kids get to sleep or tire them out so they could and maybe a little bit strict on rules, but that turned into having no limit to what he will go to to get kids to sleep and being (almost?) dangerous if rules were broken.
It's not that only one of them got tampered with, it's just that their original personalities differed so it shows differently :D

Sun/Moon their room is so incredibly sad and out of character for them? Everything is messy and not at all lived in. It does not even look like they come there aside from putting stuff away. They have been literally stuffed in a broom closet it looks like. I fear the only part of that room which is truly theirs is the bit you can see when you go through the blue tube. And if that which i suspect is correct it would mean that it is always Moon who is out if they are in their room, since there are no lights in there... Which then in turn means Sun never gets a break from ‘work’.  [You can go into their room as an easter egg, check the youtube account manlybadasshero and then their third video on security breach at 1:34:00 they enter it.]

Sun would be the type to play matchmaker with the little kids he looks after. Like he is doing arts and crafts with a six year old girl who keeps looking over to the ballpit and when he follows her line of sight he sees another kid playing there. He asks if she wants to go play with them, but she bashfully shakes her head and whips her head back around to her paper. Sun takes a second and then laughs in a giddy manner. He would definitely tease her light heartedly and then try to get her and the kid to do some activities together and place them next to each other during everything :D

I wonder what happens if you get caught by Moon. Since Sun does not try to catch you, we don’t have to wonder about that, but Moon intrigues me. When you get caught by an animatronic they have their mouth open and stuff and are basically charging up to kill you. But when you are caught by Moon in the daycare for example all he does is twist his head around and wriggle his fingers in you face. Sun/Moon’s animatronic is made to be safe for kids obviously and I do not see something on their model that can be used to kill kids, like all the main animatronics have their mouths. Not to mention in the game there is a message about a boy who after going to the daycare refuses to sleep with the lights off, meaning he definitely met Moon, but for that message to exist must mean that kid survived and thus Moon did not kill him...

Freddy went ‘deviant’.
Freddy was very attached to Bonnie, whether that be as a good friend, a lover or whatever else. When Bonnie was scrapped I imagine him as the leader of the band and of course the face of the entire franchise to not have gotten a break to mourn properly. I think this is what caused him to have that shift in his programming which allowed him to be different than the other animatronics in security breach, helping instead of hurting Gregory. He has a mind of his own far more than the others do and can even do things such as lie (as seen in the scene with Vanessa).

Gregory is an animatronic
So, a few points made me come to this theory:
At the start of the game Freddy says Gregory’s ‘’guest profile is unknown to him’’ assuming Freddy has a guest profile for each and every kid that enters the plaza, which I assume because of how confused he sounded, that would be a very peculiar thing.
Then Vanessa makes a comment about how there is ‘’no record of him [Gregory]’’.
Gregory can go into the charging stations while only animatronics can (from what we know at least).
Freddy says his stomach hatch is ‘’not a safe play area’’ and only intended for ‘’oversized birthday cakes and piñatas’’, assuming this also means that most kids would not even fit in there (seen from how small and weirdly shaped the space actually is) it would make sense for a child animatronic to be made to fit.
Freddy registered he was ‘injured’ when he scanned him, but Gregory did not actually need any patching up at the Med Station.
While the animatronics get more and more beat up throughout the night, Gregory does not. I cannot imagine that while the animatronics would get dirty a human child would not (especially after for example being in the trash shoot with Chica). So... maybe a new feature on a newer/more advanced model animatronic?
What I think would be the case would be that Gregory was made as an animatronic to keep the others calm if they were in containment and could not for some reason be in contact with the human kids. But since their programming is centered around children they would get restless, that’s what Gregory would be for; to calm their programming down. I do not think Gregory himself, nor any of the others would know he is not a human child, memory being reset or removed each time someone would realize it.

Monty destroyed Bonnie
So, to start off we have a few canon stuff about Monty:
He was heard smashing things at the beginning of the game, letting us know he has a tendency to do such.
As a sort of addition-sort of separate point from the last one, his claws are known for being able to destroy things (literally the attribute which is promoted for getting Monty’s upgrade on Freddy).
Lastly, Monty has rage episodes/anger issues. He can easily lose control during one of those and not exactly realize what he is doing and/or destroying during those I can imagine.
Monty dislikes or even hates Freddy. Reasons are unknown, but the most obvious assumption is that he is jealous of Freddy’s position as the face of the franchise.
[His wikipedia page sees it as ‘implied’]
All of these things combined, with of course the infamous message about Bonnie’s disappearance [see picture below] make me believe Monty was the reason for his sudden, unexplained disappearance.
Tumblr media
Monty was in the making while Bonnie had been glitching, he was already intended to be his replacement. But perhaps he was afraid that Bonnie would just get fixed and take back the spot in the band. That combined with knowing how close Freddy and Bonnie were and his dislike for Freddy gives him enough of a motive to just take the chance to fully destroy Bonnie when given the opportunity. So perhaps Bonnie came down while he was in one of his rage episodes, whether Bonnie knew that and came down to check up on him, or did not know of the situation. Monty would have seen him and just jumped him, having a fairly big physical advantage mixed with Bonnie not being in peak condition it would’ve been easy enough for him to either destroy him enough that no attempt at fixing him would’ve been made or just fully destroyed him himself.
A small theory that connects to this is that Monty keeps parts of Bonnie in his room, as a sort of punching bag to relieve stress...
