idk if this is talking about the books specifically, but in the movie her reasoning at least makes sense, still evil and not good at all, but at least i can see the logic
the logic is there, she just didn’t account for literally every other aspect of doing that
Random Rant: Hilda and the Mountain King. I tried watching it again and just... ugh
Trylla in Hilda and the Mountain King is a villain for kidnapping Hilda all bc she wants Hilda to see the troll's perspective. I don't care how scared someone is, that is NOT HOW YOU DO IT! and considering this is HILDA we are talking about, I'm 100 percent sure they could have found another way.
I don't know why the movie is trying to convince me otherwise. She literally turns her back on a crying HYSTERICAL JOANNA who JUST WANTS HER DAUGHTER BACK and refuses to help Hilda, who just wants to go home. Evil. Evil evil evil evil.
And I'm supposed to side with her because "well, being a troll is a fearful situation" YOU DON'T GET TO KIDNAP A CHILD FROM HER MOTHER AND FORCE THE CHILD INTO A WORLD AND AN UNFAMILIAR BODILY FORM JUST SO SHE "CAN SEE WHAT YOU'RE GOING THROUGH."
It doesn't matter how smart the kid is or how desperate you are! You separated a child from her mother! You forced her into a body she doesn't understand! You turned your back on her mother, who just wants her back! YOU'RE A HEARTLESS BITCH!
If she is such a smart girl, YOU TAKE CARE OF HER! NOT ABUSE HER LIKE THIS! (It is abuse, I won't take this back.)
Any other normal person would make this even more of a reason to hate Trolls. Period.
Why is it so hard for some kid movies to have a good lesson when it comes to dealing with things like this? You can't tell a kidnapped kid to get over it and be empathetic about other creature's issues when it's the creature who ripped her from her family in the first place! A scammer can't scam others just bc they have more money bc the money still belongs to them, and they need it. A thief can't steal from a store for food bc then it hurts the shop owners- especially if ppl see them get away and start stealing themselves (you can argue about big corporations but it's the smaller stores that will be hurt the most)
YOU CAN'T KIDNAP A CHILD AND ACT LIKE YOU'RE THE VICTIM BECAUSE YOU ARE IN A FEARFUL STATE! DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY PPL WOULD BE ALLOWED TO USE THAT AS AN EXCUSE IF THAT WAS ALLOWED!? ALMOST EVERYONE! TRAUMA WOULD HAVE NO MEANING! MENTAL HEALTH WOULD MEAN NOTHING!
No. Nonononononono. This bitch is a villain.

I’m not going to write it rn because I have something else in the works tho
I just realized that Johanna was raised by her aunt Astrid, in the same vein that Audrey and Sophie were raised by their aunt Gerda, and now I kinda wanna write a heart to heart between them about sharing that experience, while also having different reasons as to why

Some changes will be made to canon, some small, some fairly large.
I wanna make sure everything still makes sense, and if you notice any kind of inconsistency or characters might be a little OOC please point it out (also forgive me)
I may or may not have something in the works for Sophie’s story

What’s great about Hilda is that a lot of things that could be plotholes are easily explained by the fact that this show is told from the perspective of children. Why didn’t Frida question her magically cleaning room? She’s a kid, she thought it was normal! Why does Trolberg jail citizens for 100 years for accidentally bringing trolls into the city? They don’t, kids just spread playground rumours. Why don’t the main characters react more strongly to the existence of magical creatures they were previously unaware of? They’re kids, they’re unaware of 60% of non magical things anyway, they learn abt new stuff all the time! When you’re a kid you don’t question weird stuff so much, provided it’s explained to you like it’s normal! Idk, I just think it’s neat

unrelated but she’s also autistic, she told me herself-
Young Johanna struggling to fit in with the “normal” kids and not understanding why, and Astrid only being able to help so much without revealing the truth
