Today hit me right in the feels. This year was a little unusual because we're not getting together with the whole family until Saturday. Instead it was quiet, just my husband and the two babies, our first real independent Christmas as a family of four. My husband and I worked faithfully into the night to make sure our two year old's first "aware" Christmas was perfectly set up and captured from the moment he came out of his room. It made me remember my parents doing the same thing for us when we were little, and it made me smile seeing it come full circle. Watching the kids opening presents and playing together while the dog chewed his new bone by the fire gave me such a feeling of warmth and fulfillment. As I reflected, I became a little sad. It doesn't seem like that long ago when I was just a little kid on Christmas morning. Now, the time seems like it's speeding by, and the memories, becoming more and more fleeting. Traditions are changing and some things will never be the same again. This year brought new family members while other friends and relatives passed on. Realizing tomorrow isn't promised while looking into my baby's eyes on Christmas morning was almost tortuous. My resolutions for 2020 became a little more significant thinking about my goals, my family and our future. Life as we all know, has a way of throwing spikes in the road. Today reminded me to treasure every moment, because tomorrow, if we're lucky to see it, they will already be memories.

Shit They Don’t Tell You
How come nobody told me toddler jeans have elastic bands in them so you can adjust the waist size? I’m two and a half years in to momhood and just now figuring this out. My kid has a drawer full of jeans I’ve been waiting for him to “grow into”, meanwhile he’s been wearing the same single pair for the past 7 months!
