i think one of my favorite parts about the new nosferatu that i don't see anyone talking about is the absolute removal of anti-semitism. OG nosferatu was so strikingly anti-jew that i was genuinely appalled -- the rich guy who drinks blood and looks like a nazi comic book villain comes to germany to prey on young women... now changed into an ancient romanian horror come to claim the woman he's bound to, who summoned him with her sorrow.

it's a totally different story. it's not the traditional dracula "eastern invader" tale but a tale of the relationship between womanhood, sexuality and madness in a world where indulgent death is the only way out. gothic horror has never been so back
