Stranger Danger (2)
Tumblr media
Pairing: Taehyung / Reader
Count: 2372 words
Summary: The air in the apartment went frigid as you let this beautiful stranger into your less than extraordinary home. Wonder filled you as you debated what he would be like, what it would be like to live with him. The beginning of a new chapter unfolded in front of you eyes.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Your breath caught as his husky voice rang out,
“Hi I’m Taehyung, you’re (Y/N) right?”
He probably would have perceived you as dumb if he had not looked down at his suitcase momentarily, missing the blank expression  that spread across your features. Pulling yourself out of your dumbfounded state you licked your suddenly dry lips before hesitantly replying, “Yeah, I’m guessing you want to come in” you said stupidly, stepping aside to allow his entry.
You watched as he made his way past the door, his brilliant eyes glancing around the room in a wild manner, trying to take in as much as he possibly could in his first few moments. He was saying something to you, but in your state of nervous anticipation you were not paying attention. HIs words rang into your ears, pulling out of your own head. “This is a nice place.” he said cautiously, the tense awkwardness of the situation settling itself into your bones.
You nodded, closing the door, “Oh, Yeah. It’s not much but it's enough for me and snickers.” you trailed off awkwardly, “and now I guess you too.” your lame attempt at friendly welcoming making the atmosphere more uncomfortable than before.
“Yeah.” he said with a long pause, “wait someone else lives here as well? I thought it was only a two bedroom apartment.” he said with a his thick eyebrows twisted up in confusion.
I was about to say something in response, but his face seemed to reach a realization before I could, “Oh! If your boyfriend or something lives here too that is fine, I didn’t mean anything by that-” he quickly rambled on, a nervous habit you assumed.
“Tae-”, “Taehyung” you tried to interrupt his bant without much success, “Taehyung! Snickers is my dog, not my boyfriend” you explained in an amused voice. His frantic attempts at apologizing for assuming things you weren't even sure about was quite entertaining.
He stopped instantly, “Oh.” he exclaimed, realizing that this explanation was more logical than having a boyfriend named snickers. He looked shyly up at you for a moment before the devil himself came bounding out of the kitchen. His short legs waddled his fat body across the room before he jumped up, resting his paws on Taehyung’s shins as he looked up at him, tongue hanging lazily out of the side of his mouth. His tail wagged wildly as he demanded to be pet.
Taehyung’s face lit up into a look of pure joy as he reached down to scratch behind Snickers’ ear, laughing at the euphoric face that took hold of Snickers’ features at the action. “Is this Snickers?” he asked in a baby voice you knew was aimed more at the dog than at you.
Your laugh filled the room quietly as you nodded, “The one and only.” you said with a bright smile.
He stood up and looked at her with a box smile, “Do you want me to show you your room?” you asked hesitantly, not wanting to make him feel rushed in any way, “Yeah, that would be good” He smiled comfortably at you.
“Right this way” you said beginning to walk down the hallway. The layout of your humble abode was quite simple really. A small entry way leading into an open concept livingroom combined with the kitchen, only separated by a bar and some barstools. One hallway leads to a guest bathroom and a laundry room, the other leading to the master bedroom and the extra room, right across from each other with a bathroom between them. You walked to the door and opened it for him, watching as he carried his bags into the room, dropping them hastily on the floor before looking around.
The room was whimsical and simple, a dark framed bed centered along a white wall with a matching dresser and side chest on either side. Blue hues emanated from the room, the duvet a wonderful deep ocean color that complimented the dark frame astoundingly well. The sudden anxiety of Taehyung not liking to room filled your mind, “Um, this used to just be the guest room but now it’s yours.” you explained, “You can change it if you want, we could sell the frame and get a better one, or change the color of the walls or-” your droned. Making your way to the window sill as you hopped up onto it, looking around the room frantically for more things you could change to make him feel more at home.
He walked over to you, not that you noticed, before placing his hands on your shoulders. Pulling your eyes to meet his you mentally scolded yourself for getting lost, your words trailing off into the open oblivion of the space around you, nothing more than the memory of a whisper in comparison to the assault your mind was now sieging on you. “(Y/N), this is perfect.” He said looking you dead on, “Thank you for letting me stay here.” he said in a voice you could only describe as sorrowful.
Confusion clouded you as you tried to remember why he needed to stay with you, for a job. Your mind raced as you contemplated why he suddenly sounded desperate, grateful and sad all in the same breath if this was only to further his career. Questions danced at the tip of your tongue, biting them back you nodded at him “you’re welcome Taehyung” you said in a quiet voice, as if anything louder than a whisper would shatter the fragility you could see in his face.
An unrequited urge to wrap your arms around his muscular shoulders hit you and you wanted to reassure him that everything would be okay. You figured that to be to forward for your first meeting so you sadly settled for patting his hand that still resided on your shoulder. He smiled knowingly at you before backing away, his hands rolling off of your frame in a way that left you feeling cold. You stood up hesitantly the feeling of caution still haunting your mind as you croaked out, “alright”. An unsure aura surrounded you as you watched him grab his bags from the floor, “I guess I will let you get settled then.” you said quietly, making your way to the door you turned around. Looking back at him with your lip caught between your teeth you sighed, “My room is right across the hall, come get me when you're done and i can show you the rest of the house.” you said.
He nodded, unzipping his bags and pulling out his things. You spent a last fleeting moment looking at him before leaving the doorway. Entering your own bedroom you noticed a fur sausage laying across your white duvet. “Snickers” you chuckled, tossing your body tiredly onto the bed.
The dog shuffled himself to lay pressed on your side, his small face gently curling around your arm as you petted his soft fur. Your mind raced as you laid there, staring into the white abyss of our ceiling. You tried to think back to your childhood, searching your mind like mad for some recollection of the Kim family. Memories of refined grace, richness and luxury filled your mind as you remembered meeting a woman and her son with your mother for coffee. The way Miss Kim dressed always reminded you of a princess, she was so proper, so refined that there was no question of if she came from money or not.
You couldn't remember much of Taehyung as he stopped coming to these meetings by the time you were eight years old, but you remembered his mother always scolding him for being too loud, too obnoxious, though you could never see why as he was such a fun little boy, only a few years your senior.
Money had come easily to your family, you were very well off when you decided to enroll in college to study medicine. Your family was overjoyed with your choice, you were following in your father's footsteps, not because that was what was expected of you, but rather because you found a form of fascination in physical therapy. Kinesiology, the study of movements was your pick of poison and you were fully supported by your family.
The way Taehyung had thanked you earlier made you wonder if he had the same.
A knock against your door brought you out of your nostalgic daydreaming. You sat up to find Taehyung standing in the doorway with a satisfied smirk playing on his lips. “You’ve been staring at the ceiling for an hour.” he said in a teasing tone.
You whipped around to look at the clock to find it had, in fact, been an hour since you let Taehyung into you house. You also realized in that moment, that it was nearly noon. “Wow, really?” you asked yourself quietly. You turned back to the amused boy and smiled, “How about I show you around the house and then we go get lunch, that way you can get to know the town a bit?” you asked cheerfully, deciding it best to not question Taehyung about his upbringing at the moment.
He nodded excitedly, his boxy smile erupting onto his features in a fit of momentary joy. I stood up, “you will just have to let me change out of my pjs” you said in an embarrassed tone.
He shrugged at you, “I think you look fine” he said giving you a flirtatious smile that caused heat to peak on your cheeks.
Not knowing exactly how to respond to his advance you looked down, your hair coming to cover up your face as you fought the pink heat away. You looked back up at him, shaking your head lightly as you gave him a shy smile, “I still have to change” you said, shooing him out of the room to allow you to dress yourself.
As he closed the door you covered your face with your hands, a nervous smile making its way onto your features as you tried to comprehend if he had actually just flirted with you or if he was being nice. Shaking the thoughts from your head you made your way to the closet, pulling out a pair of jean shorts and a and a grey short sleeve shirt. Pulling them onto your newly undressed body you sighed. Walking out into the hallway in the midst of contemplating if you should put your hair up or not. Taehyung’s eyes trailed up and down your body slowly before meeting your eyes. Looking away for a second you gather your confidence in one fatal swoop before looking back at him. “Are you ready?” you ask hesitantly.
“After you m’lady” he said in a deep voice, gesturing his hands to the end of the hallway.
You smiled at him, “So this is obviously my room,” you begin, resisting the urge to fall into his flirtatious trap, “just knock if you need anything or if you want or hang out or something.”
You point to the bathroom that separated you’s and his’ doors, “That is our bathroom, you can have half of the counter space and the top half of the medicine cabinet because I am too short to reach them anyways.” you state, “you can use any of the stuff in the shower other than my green apple shampoo.” you say looking at him to see if he was listening.
He watched you as you talked, gently nodding in understanding from time to time. You started down the hallway, “This is the living room,” you said referring to the spacious room. A white couch with decorative leaf-patterned pillows sat opposite a decent sized television, gaming systems lining the cabinets it sat on. There was a forest green rug underneath it all and a glass coffee table sitting in the center of the room for convenience.
“I have cable and netflix, but not hulu and you are free to use them.” you say leaning back onto the edge of the couch “You can use the gaming systems, just don't try to beat my score on Mario Cart and we should be fine” you say playfully, giving a half hearted glare to the male who smiled at your joke.
“The kitchen is right there” you said pointing behind him, “If you have anything you want to keep in the fridge you’re welcome to and we can trade nights to make dinner if you want to eat here.”
You made your way down the other hallway, Taehyung following eagerly behind you, “This is the guest bathroom for if you invite friends over, and here is the laundry room.” you say pointing to their respective doors.
“Alright,” Taehyung said, looking around him with a look that was now not as lost as before. “Where are we going for lunch?” he asked giving you  bright smile.
You shrugged, “What do you want to eat? There is a sushi place, a burger place, a BBQ place.” you listed.
“Sushi sounds nice.” Tae said smoothly, almost as if he didn't want you to know if he was excited or something.
You nod, “Alright then, let's go” you say happily.
Grabbing your purse from the kitchen counter you lead him out the door. After locking the door you turned to him, only to find him wandering down the hallway without proper direction. “Um, Tae? The door is this way.” you said pointing down the opposite direction.
“Oh right.” he said embarrassed.
He made his way to you, surprising you by wrapping your arm around his, “I don’t want to get lost.” he said in a goofy child-like tone.
Heat infiltrated your face as you looked away from him. I guess you were going to have to get used to his his flirty, goofy demeanor if he was going to be staying with you.

Stranger Danger (1)
Tumblr media
Pairing: Taehyung / Reader.
Count:  1028
This is my first one, CONSTRUCTIVE criticism is very welcome!!!!
Summary: How was someone supposed to behave in this situation? How were you supposed to invite this stranger into your home? Your mother's promise of knowing him from childhood did nothing to ease your mind toward the man who was now awkwardly standing in front of your door with a suitcase.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Consciousness beckoned you slowly as the wild vibrations of your phone sent you bed into an earthquake of gentle tremors.  Your mind not completely as comprehensive as your body begrudgingly forced your hand to pat around aimlessly for the device, not truly wanting to find it and avoid early conversations with a hoarse voice.  Sadly, however, your nimble fingers landed on the hard plastic case that enveloped the intrusive call. Lifting it off of your silky sheets you blindly swiped your thumb across the screen in a lame attempt at answering the phone. After a few tries you successfully answered the call and lifted the phone to limply rest against the side of your fac as you groaned into the speaker. Your mother's frantic voice rang out into the air, “Please tell me you are not still in that damned bed.” she said exasperatedly.
“You see I would, but you taught me not to lie.” you replied in a tired sarcasm, pulling yourself up to a hunched sitting position, most of your weight relying on the headrest behind you, “why?”
You could hear her annoyed and disappointed sigh, “The Kim’s son is on his way to your apartment right now, and I am guessing by your lack of being awake you are not ready to invite him into your home.” she said, you could almost see the scolding face on her features.
It took a moment for her words to register in your sleep ridden mind, but once they did you sprang out of you bed with a loud “Crap!” as you scrambled to get some pants on. Your phone now sandwiched between your face and your shoulder allowed you to hear your mother's cynical laugh. “This isn’t funny! I am about to let a stranger live with me and I don’t even have pants on yet!” you yelled exasperated. “I have to go Mi Amore, I love you bye.” you said quickly, hanging up the phone and throwing it onto your unmade bed.
You couldn’t help but feel grateful when you remembered that you cleaned your apartment yesterday in preparation for this.Scrambling you shucked a pair of black shorts over your hips, not caring that they were only barely longer than the green stanford hoodie you had slept in. Figuring there was not enough time to properly make your bed you threw the duvet over the mess of sheets and haphazardly smoothed out some wrinkles before throwing your pillows against the headboard. You hurried to pick up some of the clothes that were strewn about the floor in case the man, for some unknown reason, wanted to look into your room.
Deciding that was enough for the time being you made your way to the bathroom. Coming face to face with the mirror you couldn’t help but feel blessed as your long (or short) wavy (or whatever) hair cascaded down your shoulders in a somewhat decent fashion. You quickly threw on some very simple make up consisting of only mascara and a few spots of concealer you nodded and threw on your thick framed glasses. Making your way to the kitchen you sighed as you spotted last night's dinner dishes sitting in the sink. Too lazy to bother you made the so adult decision that you didn't need to wash the dishes for some stranger and went to the cupboard to grab some cereal.
Leaning back against the counter you shoveled a spoon of special-k into your mouth, waiting for the doorbell to ring. Your mind drifted to the conversation that created this mess. Not even a week ago you received a call from your mother where she explained that some family friend’s son was in need of a place to stay for his new job and that she had volunteered your small two bedroom apartment for room and board. You wouldn’t have been so upset if you had actually remembered these “family friends” she was referring to. You can’t even remember the poor fellas name that your mother hurriedly spoke to you as she told you he was now going to be living with you.
What if he was weird? What if he was a murderer? What if he sang in the shower? You mentally gasped, What if he was a loud snorer? You thought to yourself in horror. Getting lost in thought about all of the horrible possibilities, you were startled by the feeling of paws against your thigh. You looked down to find your adorable little corgi, Snickers, pawing at you in hunger. Reaching down to pet his head for a moment you walked to the pantry to pull out his kibble, ‘What if doesn’t like my Snicker?’ you thought with a pout. ‘Oh well, He will just have to get over it’ you said proudly in your head, putting your hands on your hips in a power stance.
Just then you heard the chime of the doorbell. The dreaded sound rang through the apartment like a cry for help as you slowly turned toward the door. Your feet hesitantly made their way toward the door, your fingers gently grasping the door knob. In the suspenseful moments of turning the knob and pulling the door back your mind reeled, terrified and excited all at the same time. Once the door was tucked into your shoulder your eyes trailed from the large suitcase up to a pair of black jeans followed by a red white and black striped shirt and finally to the face of the man that was going to be living with you from now until.. Who knows. His head was lolled to the side with his lips rolled into an awkward, yet somehow adorable, sort of smile before he looked at your straight on. Your breath caught as his husky voice rang out,
“Hi I’m Taehyung, You’re (Y/N) right?”
