Wrote a speculative 2-chapter fic from Shikadai's POV following the events right after Ch11 and a little after. Contains spoilers and stuff and other speculative stuff, but I tried to stick to canon as much as I can.
Just following up on my hope that Inojin's injuries/trauma will be highlighted in the future :D
Thought I would share it here, I liked how it turned out!

(puts on the hyperanalyzation glasses)
Thinking about the fact that unlike Boruto, Inojin was not actually OHKO'd, based on the panel he didn't instantly die. He was impaled in such a way where was literally on 1HP and was just doomed to bleed out the last of his life out. This mean that Inojin was definitely aware and definitely felt what happened to him 🙂
I don't think he was conscious for very long. His body likely shut down soon after from the pain and trauma. But I think there was enough time for Inojin realize he was about to die.
The fact that he was already unconscious by the time Himawari picked up and healed him could mean that Inojin lost consciousness and was about few seconds from being dead. But consider a more morbid concept: brains don't die when the heart dies (they live on for about 7 minutes or so, this is how 'life flashes before your eyes'). Inojin could have been functionally dead (not breathing, heart stopped), but because Hima recreated his organs before his brain died, Inojin was revived. So basically, what happened is kinda like an extreme version of getting revived from cardiac arrest.
If Himawari had chosen to fight Jura first or took any longer to power up, it would have been too late to revive him. She was literally just in time.
I think you could definitely make an interesting character arc for Inojin from this experience, people don't just walk away from this unscathed (physically or just emotionally). So much potential, I don't think the manga will touch on it, maybe the anime will. I guess this is what fanfics are for.
Note: Apologies to everyone who followed me for the Mitsuki and are getting Inojin spam instead, but our snake son hasn't been seen for months now. If you find him, please contact your local police department with the sighting. I miss him very much.

I couldn't have put it better myself. The authors don't often let characters to breathe and tango with their emotions / trauma because it's definitely less visually stimulating than having cool power up and fight scenes, so as a result the fans only know death as the only way to make a story dark or interesting.
I really do hope they tackle the ramifications; I do think there's some otherwise Himawari wouldn't have encouraged them to take him to the hospital (but of course, this can also be used pure plot device to get Shikadai/Chocho fully on-board with leaving Hima to fight Jura and/or to prove how powerful she is when there is nothing wrong with Inojin). It feels kinda silly if there isn't any consequences and this is from someone who is very, very glad that Inojin is alive. Maybe I am on that hard hopium for that Inojin arc we never got :,)
As someone who's not the biggest fan of the current plot climate rn, impending Matsuri vs Team 10 fight and Mitsuki remember who Boruto really is are the only things I'm looking forward to right now ><
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Ch11 Leaks
Just writing out my thoughts about the chapters. Just gonna put this under the cut because this is based entirely on leaks that just came out. I have not actually read the chapter myself.
Will be talking about character's fates and stuff.
SPOILERS!
(FYI, I'm only commenting on Inojin's fate rn)
As I had expected, Inojin had managed to survive the wound thanks to Himawari. According to the text leaks, she healed his wound (unclear if its a full heal or partial).
Read leaks here: https://x.com/Borugod_EN/status/1803351941495378149
(This is just the part I'm talking about, more leaks on this person's profile)
So many people are madge and calling Boruto a Disney show for not killing Inojin off lmao. While I think set up to and the fake out death itself was narratively very poor and a little unnecessary (there could have been many interesting ways Himawari to go angry mode instead), I don't know why people are being so angy that he survived.
There was literally too much set up for a potential Asuma-like Team 10 arc with saving Moegi and fighting Matsuri. That was the main reason I believed that Inojin would survive. Inojin's death would have no purpose at this moment. I'm certain if author-san wanted Inojin to die, there would be reasonable build up to it (hopefully anyway).
Also just might be me because I am a huge fan of Kingdom Hearts, but man do I take issue with the whole 'Disney Show' comment. You don't need characters to die to make a story dark or interesting. My take is 'Characters may not die, but they will live with unspeakable trauma'. Inojin still got gutted and even if he heals, I doubt that he's gonna forget what just happened to him. While I don't believe the manga will touch on the post-stab emotions, I am hoping the eventual anime will take time to flesh out the experience for Inojin.
Anyways, yay, Inojin lived, I am literally so glad that Sai was able to keep his son 🙏🙏😭😭

⚠️ [SPOILERS FOR CH11]
The raws are out :D
Seems like Shikadai and Chocho are gonna skedaddle to the hospital ASAP to get Inojin checked out because honestly, by all accounts, Inojin should be dead. Seems like its not a 100% heal? Or at least Himawari just doesn't know. Probably not a minute has passed since he got skewered, but Inojin already fell unconcious so bro was really on his like, final two seconds of life before Himawari used the equivalent of the L4D2 Medkit.
I am definitely glad Inojin is alive, but I still hope that his injury still had consequences. Whether its emotionally or physically. Would love a bit of an introspection episode for Inojin, thinking about how close he was to death, or maybe physically, he's still unwell. My favorite crackpot theory is that Inojin still needs help and Amado offers to help and turn him into a cyborg. Would make some interesting tense moments between Amado and Sai, while also making Scientific Ninja Tools relevant again.
Anyways, I find it really wholesome that Shikadai is the one carrying Inojin. I thought Chocho would because she's physically stronger, but he decides to carry Inojin anyway, like a sack of potatoes 💀💀 I get they are on a bit of a timer, but seems kinda bad that to carry him like that when two minutes ago, there was legitimately a gaping hole in his chest. Chocho is a real one for not wanting to abandon Himawari, big sister Chocho is honestly something I didn't know I needed, but def want more of.
Okay, just putting my Kingdom Hearts hyper-analyzation tinfoil hat on for a second, I find it kinda suss that Matsuri is on the cover of this chapter? Not the one with just Hidari, the other one with Boruto vs Jura with Hidari and another guy.
Wouldn't it be crazy if Matsuri ambushes Team 10 on the way back to the village?
Probably not though. I kinda just wanna see some action that isn't just from Boruto :,)
Also where tf is Mitsuki, I haven't seen my boy in months 😭 When will this damn omnipotence malarkey be over, I want my team back together???

Thinking about how (probably) accidentally romantic the whole thing between Boruto and Mitsuki is right now LOL
I've induldged myself in a few romance stories here and there, but not enough to consider myself an expert, however the thing between them feels like a cliche romance trope.
Think about it: Mitsuki loves and admires Boruto a ton. And it's not just a superficial admiration, he really does take the time to understand Boruto and why he likes him. Boruto is the entire reason why Mitsuki is able to develop as a person, he's super important to him (whether or not you see it as platonic or romantic). And Mitsuki is just as important to Boruto as he is to him, as he learned in the Mitsuki Disappearance arc.
Then when the memory switch happened, Kawaki took Boruto's place in his memories, Mitsuki continued to show that same devotion. But unlike Boruto, who always just accepted how much Mitsuki likes him and reciporcates what he thinks is a strange friendship, Kawaki doesn't reciprocate Mitsuki's loyalty and devotion, leaving Mitsuki feeling unhappy and unfufilled.
Then he re-encounters Boruto again and Mitsuki wondering or not Kawaki really is the person who illuminated his life. And Boruto, also, takes the time to talk to Mitsuki, reminding him that HE is his 'Sun' and invites him to follow him again (omg this scene tho). And it seems that Mitsuki wants to despite his memories stating otherwise.
What I'm saying is that Mitsuki's heart senses who his real "Sun" is despite everything stating otherwise, which feels like a trope in a romantic story where one part of the couple forgets the other and re-encounters them and falls in love with them again. And if Mitsuki ends up betraying Kawaki for Boruto in spite of his memories... I feel like if Boruto the series was not a Shounen, I'd see some crazy declaration of love and a kissy scene down the line.
Despite being a MitsuBoru enjoyer, I'd genuienly be surprised if Boruto and Mitsuki end up as a proper canon pairing. As much as I would like it to be canon, I feel like the author has different intentions and it was a complete accident how romantic this ended up being.
That being said, I think it would make perfect sense if MitsuBoru became canon, I'd probably cry if it actually did LOL

The anime gave Inojin such an interesting personality (the straight bluntness of Sai mixed with Ino's sass and smugness makes for a fun character), it's just really too bad we don't get much of him.
I was actually lowkey hoping that Inojin's injury and actions here is actually a calculated move by author-san related to his character growth and not simply just fodder for Himawari's character development (granted he's not actually dead). Or at least, I can see an anime original arc they could slot after this related to his recovery/development, kinda like how Boruto & Sarada had recovery eposde post-Deepa fight in the anime, even having training episodes.
Frankly, I'm not really that interested in the main plot around Kawaki and Boruto at all. Complete personal opinon: I just feel like they're trying to make Boruto as edgy as possible so they just tacked on as much trauma as possible onto him to accomplish that to counter the earlier critism that Boruto as a series was too lighthearted and cheerful. I only have a passing interest just to check in on to how my favorite characters (Mitsuki and Inojin) are doing.
Mitsuki seems to have some interesting personal conflict regarding his loyalty to his "sun", it just feel so eh, to have Inojin just be fodder to make the plot and other characters better. Replace Inojin with literally any one of the Shino class members and it would have the exact same emotional impact right now and give everyone the same motivation :U Though I guess it affects Shikadai, Chocho, and Hima (to a lesser degree than the prev two) more personally, and if Inojin does get sidelined agian and Shikadai & Chocho gets to do stuff in revenge, it just means that everyone else is getting character development except for Inojin again which is just : )
I fully expect Team 10 to just show up for 2-5 chapters and then become irrelevant for the rest of the series regardless if Inojin gets removed from the equation OTL Only the anime can save us now from lack of Team 10 content😭
I'm just waiting for this first arc to be over so we can get to more interesting stuff with the kids as a team again. I'm kinda praying that the anime will give us a Team 10-relevant plot, because they gave us the Mitsuki Disappearance arc for fun so maybe they'll do the same with Team 10?
But I may be on too much hopium, but🤞🤞
The more I think about it, the more I think that it would be a weird narrative move if Inojin really did die.
For one, Team 10 have not had their confrontation with Matsuri, which I think is definitely is set up to happen, especially since Matsuri's memories are of Konohamaru and Team 10. It wouldn't be a real Team 10 confrontation if Inojin isn't there. Besides they all promised to help their team leader.
Secondly, Inojin's death would straight up kill this generation's InoShikaCho, which would be absolutely wild. This would be an insane development, because after seventeen generations, the streak would end. We would have to hope that there will be a new trio for the next generation, and it likely won't be from Ino, Shikamaru, or Choji's bloodline. Narratively, there is little to no setup for the end of InoShikaCho. I feel like if this event has to happen, would be something that would get its own arc and a lot of buildup.
And finally, it feels like... we haven't really gotten much of Inojin yet? Of the main two teams of the series: New Team 7 and Team 10, Inojin is the only one who hasn't had a proper arc, both in the manga anime. He has a few episodes dedicated to him, but there are like... three in total? Maybe even less? Both Shikadai and Chocho have had arcs and episodes dedicated to them, how is it that we have not had an Inojin centered arc yet? We've barely gotten to really see him shine, his death would feel cheap because its literally for shock value and for Hima's character development.
On that note, I'm hoping that the anime (not the manga because the manga colloquially has no room for any characters development not tied with the main plot) will finally give us that Inojin arc. Also we haven't really had a proper Team 10 arc either and that can't happen without Inojin.
I could be on some hard copium right now because I'm having trouble tangoing with the idea that the kids I grew to love in Next Generations are dying, but I feel like its such a shame if Inojin really did die.
There's just so much narrative potential that would be lost if he died.

On a whim, I wrote an Inojin-centered fic based on the latest chapter of Boruto: Blue Vortex. This fic does have spoilers, so spoiler warning in case you want to read it!
Mitsuki is and will always be my favorite character, but this latest chapter made me realize how much I actually like Inojin too. He's just so fun and interesting, a perfect blend of his parents, I really just want to see more of him. Hopefully we do.
While I'm sure I'm gonna keep posting about Mitsuki, expect to see some more Inojin content here too!

Boruto's Love Interest is Mitsuki
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, in the last post, I made it clear why I believe that Mitsuki is in love with Boruto.
However in this post, I will explain why I believe Boruto is receptive to Mitsuki being his romantic partner.
My explanation will span across chapter 7 and 8, and it will compare and contrast them with each other.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Up until this point, Boruto has three confirmed love interests: Sarada, Sumire, and Mitsuki, but he has shown no romantic interest in any of them. Until, maybe now.
I want to start by contrasting Ch.7 with Ch.8.
In Chapter 7, Boruto realizes that Mitsuki has tracked him with a snake. At first, it appears that Boruto sticks around to confront MItsuki because he's far enough away from the village to go ape mode, and also because Mitsuki has closed in on him and now he cannot escape fast enough.
Chapter 7, confirmed that the prior was not the case. Boruto actually scolds Mitsuki for causing excessive environment damage, and Boruto keeps his attacks and skilled and percise as possible. All the while, Boruto fights cautiously in order to ensure that he neither hurts Mitsuki nor destroys the forest.
Chapter 8, confirms that the latter was also not the case. As soon as Boruto learns that Kawaki is coming, he automatically uses flying Thunder God Technique to teleport away. Delta and Kawaki can literally fly, and by the time they reach Boruto's location, Boruto is nowhere to be seen.
Both chapters are paired by the fact that Shikamaru warns Boruto about both Kawaki and Mitsuki pursuing him before they arrive.
Boruto had the option to teleport away in Ch. 7 and not deal with Mitsuki at all, but he (instead) stayed and had a conversation with him. He proved to Mitsuki that he could kill Mitsuki at anytime, but he refused to harm even one hair on Mitsuki's head.
In Boruto's fight with Mitsuki, he has two very prominent opportunities to escape, and he takes neither chance. This is even pointed out by Kishimoto, when Mitsuki asks Boruto why he does not simply escape when he has more than enough ability to do it?
Pair this with him evading Kawaki. When Boruto hears that Kawaki is coming, he doesn't even entertain a conversation with Kawaki.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now, let's discuss language.
In Ch.7 Boruto saying something that I've never heard Boruto say before:
He explicitly declares himself to be Mitsuki's Sun.
When Mitsuki exhibits concern with regard to Kawaki, Boruto tells Mitsku not to worry, and that this is a simple quarrel between brothers.
Now, I point this out to say, because a lot of no nuance nellys continue to infer that Boruto and Mitsuki has a fraternal relationship, and THEY DON'T.
The Naruto and Boruto series have never shied away from using words like Brothers, Rivals, and Friends, and all of these words have deep meaning in the world of Naruto and Boruto. They all have symbolic level meaning.
Yet, Boruto never refers to Mitsuki as his brother, and Mitsuki never refers to Boruto as his Brother.
Now, one might say, that maybe neither of them know what it's like to be a brother or to have a brother. To which, I'd say that's absolutely ridiculous because both of them are brothers and have brothers.
Boruto's the brother of Himawari. Boruto's brother is Kawaki.
Mistuki's brother is his older clone: Log.
If Boruto and Mitsuki, had fraternal feelings for one another, I think it would be really obvious to each of them as individuals, since the two of them are both not only children. In fact, they are the only new generation characters in all of Boruto that actually have siblings (aside from their siblings Himawari, Kawaki, and Log of course).
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Boruto tells Mitsuki that he doesn't need a sun, that he can shine on his own, but he also says if you need a sun then come find me.
In some translations, he says "Come to my place anytime" (oooo sexual).
Anyway, my point is that, if Boruto ends up being as astute as Eida and Sarada in realizing that Mitsuki has romantic feelings for him. Boruto may have just said to Mituski, "Come though and I'll give you what you need *wink, wink*".
Lol, I'm joking but I'm not joking. I don't want to perscribe sexual intention to this so early on.
However, I do think Boruto is saying that if you still feel that you need me in this romantic and relational capacity (once you realize that it's me and not Kawaki), I will be here to receive that, accept that, and be what you need in regard to that to the best of my abilities.
------‐------------------------------------------------------------------
Just the way the story had already played out, I think there's a good chance that the character of Boruto is bisexual.

Not me checking back into Boruto after a how-many-month hiatus only to see that Inojin, my second favorite character of the series, could actually be dead 💀💀💀
And now I can't stop angsting about Sai and Ino's reaction because losing your kid too early is one of the worst types of feelings ever. It hurts even worse knowing how wholesome the InoSai family was.
I've seen some good arguements on Inojin being saved somehow or the one we see is actually an ink clone, but I really don't want to be disappointed if he stays dead. Nonetheless, I really do hope he lives, I feel like he still has so much more to offer.
