As an AO3 writer and fervent fanfiction enjoyer, I am curious how other people enjoy stories on AO3, or even here.

Doesn't matter if it's about fluff, horror, adventure, romance, or things beyond romance... How do you tend to enjoy your stories?

I am curious about what people actually do with fanart!

With so many places to see it, and so much good stuff around, do you feel content with just seeing it once? Or twice? Or is there more to the story of enjoying art on Tumblr?

I tried to add the most logical options I could think of, but do feel free to let me know if you do something else 🙂

I like art, I like history, I like romance, adventure and intimacy in art, and I love me a good story that combines all these aspects. Chef's kisses to all creators out there!

So we have 2014, 2015 or 2016, and 2024 (two weeks ago, unfinished art for Apritello Kinktober; belongs to a fic I want finished first.).

I never really liked drawing humans until I started seeing TMNT (fan)art at 15 years old, and wanted to be able to do such things myself some day. Fast forward and several fandoms later, now I love playing with poses, and story aspects... And I like drawing humans. It's gotten a lot better :D

Levade.

A higher academic dressage movement, that once served its purpose in horses trained for war purposes. Takes a lot of strength and balance for a horse.

Can't believe I drew this ten years ago already. I was, and am still, quite proud of this one.

Another throwback. The hardest, most time consuming work I ever did, somewhere in 2016-something and spread out over multiple months (That I really have to take a better picture of at some point still, because it looks better than this).

This one, I did with ink and colored pencils that I've had since childhood. Would be cool if I get this technique down again, in my fan arts.

Old art, 2017. I tried a 'draw every day for a year 'challenge whilst also focusing on my degree. Not the easiest thing. Got pretty far, but lost motivation eventually.

Most of my art back then consisted of pencil drawings, but I've worked with paint, coffee as paint (which was pretty fun), and nail polish.

I'm so overjoyed that you like my art and felt empowered to let me know! I'm just a hobby artist, so write and draw when I have time to spare, hehe! After a year of drawing I finally have developed some sort of style I can agree with. Tumblr currently doesn't really agree with showing the art in the tags to public, which isn't great... Hope that changes soon ;) )

Another little late (re)upload, of one of the coolest scenes from this series, that I drew in my style.

Last for today. Digital try-out 3. Project origins.

Project origins is part of one of my ongoing AO3 stories (though quite far away stills since I have to throw Mikey in some adventures first and before THAT, I have some background to cover still). But in it, Leo and Donnie were both found and kept as as eggs, stumbled upon by Draxum in the wild, and they eventually hatched simultaneously, deep in the night. At the time, Raph was already a yearling snapper, and was kept by Draxum in an aquarium next to them at the time they hatched.

I love working on this one especially, since I absolutely love the way Red eared slider and spiny softshell hatchlings look :D

Digital try-out 2. It's that one traditional drawing I made of Rise Leo in an IDW-ish kind of style. Ever since I finished and uploaded it, I wanted this colored real bad, and so I decided to give it a go in digital art, to get some practice in digital drawing.

I am quite happy with how it turned out as well, considering my only real experience coloring is traditional. Might do a thing or two more later, but man this is already a huge milestone for me.

This scene, at the time, was quite heavily inspired by the sword forging scene from Blue Eye Samurai, season one.

Digital art try-out 1. This one is a continuation of an earlier pastel drawing (I think I did that one in 2023-sometime). 'The eye of Donatello'.

And two close-ups from another project I'm working on, which have the realistic turtles from earlier this week as a base for digital art practice.

Spring awakenings (part 3 / 3)

Snapping turtles will also bury themselves in under mud in winter periods (I don't actually know if alligator snappers do, but I still liked the idea.).

Cassandra (tired of waiting for Raph to come up and cause chaos with her) was just about ready to dig him out herself. But Raph doesn't need that kind of help, he can do it himself with ease :D.

Alternate plot that I had in mind, is that Cassandra didn't know Raph was buried there; she was just there to dig up a secret treasure for the foot clan (or herself, woman is adventurous enough). And Raph didn't expect to see Cassandra with a shovel, first thing when he sees the light of day again...
