Ave was worried the entire time she made her way to Mike's dorm. She had gotten over him, or at least she thought she had. It was painful, thinking about him missing her, for she had missed him terribly. However she knew that it was safer for her and her baby, the little secret no one knew about but her, for now. Arriving at the door she had a small seed of regret growing, she had to stay strong, and she hat to resist. She knew that she would easily melt if she let her guard down, it was just the effect he had on her. Standing outside the door she took a few breaths before knocking loudly. 

Birthday Wishes || Mike & Avenly

Mike felt like an idiot. He’d wanted to say happy birthday, to give Ave her gift and to leave it at that. To be civil, friends even. He knew he didn’t want to let her out of his life, no matter how badly he’d fucked up. A slight sigh escaped his lips as he placed his phone down, rushing around to quickly clean up his room and adding another tally mark to the chart he was keeping on the wall - just over a month and still going strong. It made him smile slightly, a little bit of pride building up in him.He sat back down on his bed, looking towards the door every now and again, waiting for Ave to show up.

Ave: Mike you know I hate talking like this over text, I'll be over in a bit and we can maybe talk then.

Mike: Okay, I'll see you then.

Mike: What? Oh, no. I wasn't trying to guilt you. I was just saying. I know why this happened, I understand that. It's alright, I'm sorry, I wasn't trying to make you feel guilty for it. It was my fault, I know I messed up, you don't have to feel guilty for anything.

Ave: Well it's a bit too late for that...

Mike: Yeah?

Ave: I'll be over in a bit.

Ave: Don't guilt me like that Mike. I miss you too but you know why this had to happen.

Mike: I miss you.

Ave: Yeah, I guess I could...

Mike: Hey! Happy birthday, Ave! I got you a gift a while back, I dunno if you still want it, I was saving it for your birthday... I mean, it's okay if you don't, but I just.. Wanted to say happy birthday, and I hope you had a good day..

Ave: Oh, hi... You didn't have to get me anything... But if you want to.. I mean I could swing by your place in a bit....

"Okay... I mean.. I really thought you were...."

"No problem… Figured what…? There was nothing like that, you know, I just… Yeah, it’s - no, nothing like that."

"Thank you... oh, I just figured that, well, you know...."

"Yeah, it’s no problem… Me and Lottie? Oh. Oh, no, no. It’s not like that. She’s a friend, but we’re not that close. Not like that at all, there’s nobody else..”

"That, that would be great... I thought, well I just thought you and Lottie, that's her name, yeah? You and her were getting pretty close, I mean, I've seen you together a bit...."

"Yeah, really. It doesn’t take all that long, and I can make it just as good as Charlie does, I promise… Me and? .. No, there’s nobody. Just me."

"Really? Yeah... I mean.. I thought you and.. well.. yeah..."

"No, no, I would… Busy? Someone else? I— No, I don’t have anyone else…"

"No, no... no that's not what I meant.. i thought you wouldn't want to like, make it for me.. I thought now you were too busy, with like, stuff, and someone else.."

"But?"

"I… It’s alright. I mean, I can write down the recipe for you, yeah? I don’t— It’s okay. I’ll give you her recipe."

"I thought... I mean... I dunno..."

"I don’t, not at all. You don’t take up my time, Avenly, you never have…"

"Well... I'm sure you have better things to do than come and make me soup... I don't want to take up your time..."

"Well, I can always offer. I mean, if you’re sick you should rest, and I don’t mind cooking some… But I can give you the recipe if you’d like."

"I mean, I can't ask you to make it for me, I would feel too bad... but if you can at least give me the recipe I can attempt to make it...."

"Hmm? Oh, yeah, I do! … Do you want me to make you some? Or do you want the recipe?"

"Actually, Mike... do you know how to make Charlie's chicken soup? The one she makes from scratch..."

"Alright, just thought I would offer… If there’s anything, let me know, yeah?"

"No, no I don't think so..."

"Oh. I’m sorry, Ave… Is there anything I can do? Anything I can get you or-?"

"I.. yeah.. well no, no I'm not. I think I have a stomach bug or something, I just feel so sick all the time, a lot of nausea"

"Ave? Are you okay?"
