genuine question; a lot of small animators i’ve seen focus more on the technical work than the actual story, and most of that probably stems from all of that work having to be done in one brain. in studios, a project has different factions (storyboarders, writers, background artists) for that reason, so that the final product can have strong parts in every section. 

i’m not dissing animators!!! at all!!! holy fuck animation is such a beautiful art and anyone who is talented at it should do it all they can!!! i’m just worried about story structure/writing in general taking a backseat in an animation. 

looking back on some videos i’ve made in the past, it’s clear that i really didn’t spend much time on my scripts, and that’s a shame.
