I like to imagine that since Ruan Mei is so invested in her work, she sometimes forgets to eat. So when reader starts making her lunch after learning about her habits. She would always leave cute notes like "Work is important! But your health is too!", "Did you know? Eating provides energy for your body. You can be 2x more efficient if you eat first!" or with Herta since she likes compliments a lot. The notes could be praising her like "Good job at work today! Hope this meal satisfies you~" etc

Bonus points if reader also like decorates the food too! Like making the food look like a clematis (for Herta) or the food too look like a cat cake(for Ruan Mei)

Too cute to eat

Herta and Ruan Mei x reader who makes them lunch

Paperwork, cleaning tools, paperwork again, slow and steadily her hands maneuver around vials and a petri dish before coming to rest once again.. on more paperwork. Any onlooker would assume her work to be boring or tedious, but for a certain genius this sort of study was so deeply engaging that it consumed her focus entirely, barely aware of anything beyond the rectangular frames of her desks. The barely dusty floor, movement outside the windows between rooms, and the buzzing of sterile lamps all became a soft blurry backdrop for whatever unfathomable creation was in the making. Moving back and forth between her desks in her workspace, the sudden appearance of a bright blue box caught her eye.

It was a stark contrast to the dull gray, white and metallic things strewn across her space. As she leaned in from her spot in her chair she saw a note placed on top of the box, an almost comically cutesy look to it with the heart shaped sticker attaching it to the lid. She couldn't hold back the fond smile that bloomed on her usually cold expression. "Work is important, but you are too! Don't forget to eat during your so called "break", i know very well you're probably working right through it! Besides.. if you return the box empty you might get a kiss <3"

Upon lifting the lid from the box she sees that you've taken some inspiration from her. Lifting one of the small catcake shaped snacks as if to admire it, almost too cute to eat.. but then how will she get that kiss?

"Hm.. how sweet", she neatly tucks away the note in a small collection she's started. The front page of her notebook littered with notes form you.

Perhaps she will finally take a much needed break to pay you a little visit, lunch is better enjoyed in company. Little do you know she's also planning a little treat to sneak into your bag for when you to find during your own lunchbreak tomorrow.

She likes trying to guess what you'll make next, having noticed a few patterns in your thoughtful gifts. With impressive accuracy she's able to figure out what you're bringing before you even give her the lunchbox.

Herta is also the type to keep the notes, having a wall dedicated to them in her office. When you first saw the neat composition of written praise on display it was embarrassing to say the least, but your very amused girlfriend simply says it "keeps her motivated" with a teasing tone. She had worried a little that you might shy away from writing the notes afterwards, only to beam a bit as she sees yet another lovingly made lunch on her desk.

She opens the lid, finding a rather endearing scribbly drawing of one of her puppets alongside the words "Prettiest girl <3". The smug look that emerged on her face quickly morphed into surprise as she saw the contents beneath the note. She's quite impressed with how intricate the food was, neatly arranged into the shape of a familiar flower. If there's one thing she happily admits defeat to its cooking, as she's well aware of what the kitchen might look like after her own attempts at it. (And maybe in hopes of praising you into making more for her <3)

She can't help but feel like you spoil her a bit sometimes with how much love and care you put into something as simple as lunch. Taking the time out of your day, making it a part of your routine itself to care for her in such ways. While she eats she arranges ideas of how to spoil you in return, making sure to return your gestures tenfold.

"Well she did say she wanted come with me for my next trip... wouldn't hurt with some new clothes.. maybe some more of that perfume she likes.. some of those pastries she wanted to try- some flowers- some-"

▪︎ First of all, very smooth talker. Fork found in kitchen. His voice and words seem to slow time itself as he steals minuets and hours from you without even trying. His robotic tone, accent and the.. interesting curse words.. are certainly easy to get distracted by. (Doesn't help that the guy LOVES to talk and has a thousand awesome stories about how TOTALLY badass he is dfsnjkfnsgfsdlkgfn)

▪︎ Might be a bit of a showoff, always sneaking a sly glance over his shoulder to check if you saw how cool he looked (definitely not giggling and kicking his feet internally if you have a cute awestruck expression.. definitely). As smooth and charming as he is i can still imagine him as the type to say "this ones for you!" before fucking up whatever cool stunt he's trying to pull.

▪︎If you're easily flustered he only doubles down on his words, leaning down closer to your face with a grin as you continuously shy and turn away. He's quite good at reading expressions and tone, but despite knowing well when to quit he cant help but want to push you flustered buttons some more. You're just too cute! (Definitely the type to get cuteness aggression, he just wants to chew on you and shake you around)

▪︎ He refrains from any sort of physical stuff, and while its true that its mostly out of respect that he keeps his hands to himself, its also due to an insecurity about his form. He thinks being mostly made of metal will turn any soft touch into a cold and unwanted discomfort.

▪︎ He was perhaps not shy about touch before his new body, and now lives with the same yearning to show and feel the affection, but now denies himself to reach out in that way. Out of habit he might lean in or place a hand on your shoulder, feeling guilty as you yelp at the sensation of cold metal.

▪︎ Thing is, he would struggle a bit if it was reciprocated, especially if its some form for physical affection. Something as simple as a hand on top of his, a slight lean against his arm or your head on his shoulder as you talk. The way you move in and reach out as though it was natural to, not even realizing what you do to him. For such a smooth guy he sure loses composure around you.

You look out at the sky, standing on the balcony of a fancy airship in Penacony. Boothill leaned on the railing next to you watching your awestruck expression with a proud smile.

"You always find such cool places! How have you been around all of Penacony?? This place is massive!"

Their voice is so pretty.. the wind is carrying it slightly too, they sound almost distant.. like they're talking from the sky itself.

"-and the tower! ... -its all so shiny and bright from up here ... -"

Has their hair always been this detailed? They look so nice against the clouds..

"Boothill..?"

His hat starts to slide off a bit as he only leans further into his hand, not even registering how you're facing him with a confused expression.

"Boothill!"

He finally blinks and comes back to earth.

▪︎ A surprisingly touchy person. Always very focused, whether he's working or simply pondering. He has a habit of playing with something in his hand while he does, either scrunching fabric or twirling a pen around.

▪︎ With how long it takes for him to drop his cold exterior and truly let someone in, you'd think that he was averse to "stupid and pointless" thing such as cuddling. He might come off as the type you'd have to convince to cuddle, but honestly he's the one dragging you away more often. He could go on and on and on about the benefits physical affection has on the mind and quality of rest, but its honestly a roundabout way for him to get you to cuddle without seeming needy about it. His pride also makes it hard for him to ask, so he has a tendency to just.. drag you away?? or simply start messing with your hair or hands as a way to sneakily take over more and more of your space.

▪︎ He's quite casual about it, and after becoming accustomed to your presence, you become one of the things he absentmindedly reaches for when focusing. Sitting next to him it might be startling the first time you feel his hand on your head, his fingers carding through your hair. Once you look at him in confusion though, he's entirely absorbed in a book held by the other hand.

▪︎ Physical touch and affection is one thing, cuddling is entirely another. Yet always when he comes out of his pocket dimension he finds himself tangled up with you somehow. Either you're pulled into his side by his arm, sitting in his lap, laying beside him with his hand in your hair as he reads in bed.. the list goes on. Cuddling has never been restricted to bedtime with him.

▪︎ With how much he loves to relax in the bath, its only a matter of time he invites you along. No matter how flustered it makes you to be sitting next to each other butt naked, he doesn't really think too much about it. Not that he isn't appreciating the view mind you, he just doesn't see it as sexual or odd in any way to so together.

▪︎ When it comes to cuddling while sleeping he's once again surprisingly soft about it. If you ask him to then he'll gladly do it, but if you struggle to ask he won't be able to resist teasing you about it a bit. If you're the type to get easily flustered, about bathing together, touching or just cuddling at all, he will act clueless until you outright ask him. He might be a lil shit about it, but he makes it quite obvious how much he enjoys it himself. Either way, you end up in a very comfortable, strong and WARM AS FUCK hold. He's almost to warm.. probably not to fun to cuddle with in the summer lol

▪︎ Refuses to be little spoon due to his pride. Even if you try to sneak around in the night so that he's the one being held, you will find yourself in the familiar tight grip by morning. No matter how nicely you ask the response remains "No <3"

▪︎ Sleeps HEAVY, an earthquake could happen and he wouldn't know. So beware being little spoon, you might never be set free again.

▪︎ I like to think that he moves a bit in his sleep due to stress, making it hard for him to truly rest and stay asleep. A reoccurring thing for him is to reach for you in his sleep, only to shift around, then reach out for you again 3 seconds later because the new position wasn't close enough to you.

▪︎ He looks forward to cuddling after a really tiring day, as it is among the few things to truly soothe his overworked mind.

Like, every time reader sees them on the space station they can't help but draw them cause they find them really pretty. So their sketchbooks are like, completely filled with portraits of Herta/Ruan Mei at different angles and location of the space station. Only for them to get caught one day by accidentally leaving their sketchbook on like their office desk to help a fellow researcher, that Ruan Mei/Herta just so happens to walk by and finds it before confronting them?

Catching the eye of a busy mind

▪︎ First of all, what on earth do you work as that you get to be in the vicinity of the madam Herta herself???? Lol

▪︎ She has her fair share of admirers, both secret and not. Funny thing is that only one of them truly piqued her interest, making this secret admiration not as one-sided as you would have thought.

▪︎ Its almost as if you take turns. When you secretly draw her, she has her gaze turned to her tasks, and while you "work" in your book with your head turned down, she does some admiring of her own. With her constant attention though its not long until you're caught red-handed. Only thing worse than having her find your sketchbook while you're gone, is her finding it while its still in your hold.

▪︎ It wasn't unusual to pass by a researcher napping at their desk, most work at the station was tedious or simply took quite a while. What is unusual however.. is finding you asleep somewhere other than your desk, with a sketchbook your lap with your hand loosely holding your pen.

▪︎ She struggles to hold back a laugh that would wake you, as she scribbles a little message next to your drawing. Very considerately written in pencil, not that you would want to erase it. It would be rude to permanently mark your work. She's also quite impressed with it, and continues to loom over your shoulder for a while, appreciating the details and thought you put into your work.

▪︎When you wake up, and see the fanciful writing on the book your heart almost drops, almost.. had it not been for what exactly it said. "No need to be so secretive, you're not the only one who spends a lot of time gazing at pretty things~"

▪︎As you tidy your sleep-disheveled clothes you look around, only to see the usually busy space being empty.

▪︎ The next day when you arrive back at your desk there's a not so subtle giftbox waiting for you. Pulling away the purple paper and ribbon reveals a box of art supplies, in your favorite medium as well! Even though you hardly had to guess who it was from, there was a card, which upon reading almost made you spit put your drink.

"If you want me to model for you so bad, why not visit my office after work? I'll be waiting~"

▪︎ Your job was quite easy honestly, but not any less important. Keeping the great Ruan Mei's notes, reports and documents in order would have been nothing but tedious categorizing and filing, had it not been for the pretty view you were graced with every day.

▪︎ During your breaks you had the time to capture the view, doodling and sketching on the blank papers lying around. The quiet, calm atmosphere made it easy to get lost in thought. No disturbances, and your secret scribbling was disguised among the soft sound Mei's own pen.

▪︎ At home you would flip through your sketchbook, almost wistfully sighing to yourself. She would never notice would she.. always so focused on her work. You've drawn it many times, her graceful and admirable dedication you admired so much, the many pretty poses that occur throughout her meticulous work. But then as you flipped through your drawing one of your lab reports popped up, what's that doing here?? Unless..

▪︎ Other coworkers looked at you oddly as you scramble out of your room, as you made it to the work room you start to frantically rummage around in the papers. It was still here right? Right??? You can feel that heavy sinking feeling in your chest as no matter where you look you can't find the missing drawing.

▪︎ A familiar monotonous voice almost startles you out of you skin, "Looking for this?". You meekly turn around only to have what you feared confirmed, your stupid drawing had made its way into the folder you gave her.

▪︎ As you were fumbling for some sort of excuse or explanation she gets an uncharacteristically smug look on her face. She turns and looks at the drawing in her hands, smiling as she notices just how detailed it was.

▪︎ She gives you an amused look, savouring the flustered look on your face as she spoke, "I had no idea you liked to draw, nor that you were so skilled.. why didn't you tell me? I would have asked you to join me when i embroider. Perhaps.. you will join me now that your little secret is out?".

The cutest oddity yet

Herta x reader (1.3k words)

She had thought it would be the same as all other things to catch her eye. Interesting the first few weeks, only to slowly fade as she quickly solves or explores all sides of it. Well.. it would be that way if you were another oddity or relic sent her way by people such as Himeko, but you were not. You weren't even someone working at one of her stations, simply a recurring guest following one of her subordinate researchers.

It seemed as though you were aiding them in a part of their project, as her puppets would often see you working on something by yourself in one of the stations conservatories. The faint colorful lights of the world beyond the glass walls blurred together with the warm overhead lamps, casting you in an oddly captivating glow. What were you working on.. were you an illustrator? The researchers would often drag around artists to make their work more than simply readable. Perhaps you were an assistant or under the apprenticeship of that researcher.. or a translator? Was it entirely unrelated to the researcher who brought you? Perhaps simply a curious mind intrigued by the many offers of the space station.

(Meanwhile form your perspective you just can't focus, because that damn puppet has been staring holes into your head for over 30 minuets now! what the hell does it want????)

She had thought that this mild fascination would pass, she had work to do and things to keep in check. So why does it send a small jolt of sadness when she overhears how you would be departing this weekend?

The last few days of your stay was odd. Any work you had left was suddenly and graciously taken care of my someone else, your favorite food happened to be on the menu as well. One of the people working there had wordlessly given you a special pass that let you enter display rooms and exhibitions usually reserved for esteemed guests. You would have thought it to be a mistake, but the pass card has your name written on it.

It seemed as though the stars had aligned, as you were set loose in what might as well have been a theme park for you, making you almost feel sad at having to leave soon. All sorts of restricted wonderful knowledge and views was now at your fingertips, as you struggle to find out what to do first. Yet on the very last day came a sudden message that made you freeze in the middle of packing your things.

It almost made you want to cry when a lady in very tidy dress told you that the madam herself had requested your presence. The poor lady in question seemed to look at you with pity, your expression akin to having witnessed some sort of cosmic horror. Had you done something wrong? Had you overstayed your welcome? What did you do to warrant talking to her face to face?? Why does this feel the same as being called to the principals office...

▪︎ I'm sorry if i did something wrong miss- um- madam Herta. What did you call me in for exactly..?

Your overly meek tone echoed a bit in the large office. Was this an office? it looked more like the study of an eccentric wizard really.. which made you really choke a bit as her chair swiveled around to reveal said wizard, hat and all.

▪︎ Wrong? No no, you didn't do anything to upset me silly. I just wanted to talk.

▪︎ About what? I'm hardly the most interesting guest here..

▪︎ Quite the contrary, you're the only one who caught my eye. You come here every other month, only ever for projects and collaborations with my researchers, and yet pique my interest more than any of the usual minds who live here. Besides, i couldn't let such a.. loyal guest go before seeing all the station has to offer could i?

▪︎ T-there's more???

She twirled a pen in her hand, yet spoke without pulling her eyes away from you. To say her gaze made you nervous would be an understatement, her slight grin told you she was aware of it too. She let out a slight laugh, before standing up and walking over to you, holding out a hand.

▪︎ Of course there is, you didn't think my collection was small enough for a single space station did you? Come on now, ill give you a little tour of the truly noteworthy pieces.

▪︎ Really?? You'd let me- you- aren't they off limits or something?

You gesture and wave your free hand about a bit, flustering as she grabs your other one.

▪︎ Mhm true, although.. i think i can make exceptions for the cutest oddity I've found so far~

And as such your fate was sealed, now having more than work reasons to keep your visits to the station consistent.

The leading excuse for dragging you along was it being some odd sort of reward for your work, despite how you both knew it wasn't enough to earn you these visits to the madam herself. There was some odd tension you were scared to even elude to, the question of if this was all a budding friendship or something more. Over time your monthly visits turned to weekly, until one of your tours ended with a more personal note. She had been walking you back to your guest room, when before you could reach for the handle she spoke up.

▪︎ You know.. it would be easier if you were stationed here. Its not as if we don't have the space for you.

She turns away, unusually avoiding your eyes.

▪︎ Perhaps... You did mention your dislike of the "workspace" your superiors offered, besides your work doesn't demand you to be there physically at all times. I could make you some puppets too you know-

She laughs lightly at the odd expression you made. The thought of a puppet version of yourself being stationed at your job in your place was... strange.

▪︎ It just seems like a logical decision to move here, that way i won't have to wait so long for you to visit either-

She says it so casually, but the soft silence that fell after made her glance to your eyes again, she looked oddly nervous. You couldn't help yourself, she had been teasing you so often. After months of suffering the fluster of her lingering touches and vaster knowledge, you finally saw the faintest crack in her polished exterior.

▪︎ You want me close by hm? You might never be rid of me after that you know, how would you ever be able to focus?

▪︎ Hmph- I happen to enjoy your company ill have you know, and you're hardly the worst person I've had interrupting my work..

Another moment of silence falls, as you both remained outside your guestroom door. You didn't quite know how to reply, her mere presence always seemed to render any speaking impossibly hard. Your mind and gaze simply falling into the details of her hair, her voice and the lace on her sleeves.

She tries to hold back a small laugh, you really were too cute.

▪︎ Why wouldn't it be..? My fondness of you has been made quite obvious by now hasn't it? Although..

She leans in a bit with a slight grin.

▪︎ Opposites attract right? Its likely that thats what intrigued him to begin with. He fell harder over and over again as you slowly but surely warm up to him, revealing the layers and dissolving the walls you build around yourself. I can imagine him being quite intimidating at first with how... direct he can be.

▪︎ Would notice the hesitation, and in return give hints that its okay. Such as how he removes one of his gauntlets to hold your hand usually, if he notices your glances and fidgeting he will wordlessly remove it. He pretends he just happened to do it, very obviously feigning interest in something else as he waits for you to take his hand.

▪︎ No matter how long it takes for you to feel comfortable, he will be there beside you, waiting with a smile. Ready to reach out the last bit needed when you hesitate or start to pull back in self-doubt, holding your hand through the whole process of.. well.. holding hands.

▪︎ The first time you did something that surprised him, you leaned in and hugged him during a quiet moment together. It took every ounce of his self control to act normal about it and not immediately cheer and fawn over you.

▪︎ He's known for his fanciful vocabulary and way of expressing his seemingly boundless adoration for the world around him, anyone who has met him would undoubtedly be made aware of his... enthusiasm for beauty of any kind. Being in a relationship with someone so open and honest with their admirations, its easy to fall into an odd guilty feeling of not matching him in affection. Little do you know, that he feels a similar uncertainty, that perhaps his constant praise loses its meaning through repetition.

▪︎ After long talks back and forth you both come to realize you had nothing to fear truly. Just as how you loved his borderline frantic ramblings, he found that the hesitance in your words only made them ring clearer and sweeter once you finally spoke.

▪︎ He makes sure to leave enough room in conversation not only for you to speak, but to find the words and will to do it.

▪︎ If you're the kind to express your feelings through actions more than words he will treasure whatever it is. Small gifts that you cram into his hands with little to no explanation? He's going to treat it with all the love and care in the world. You did some tasks to lessen his workload or simply brighten his day a bit? He might cry a little, ramble about your kindness, and reward you with a kiss.

▪︎ Struggles to not bite and chew on you out of cuteness aggression. In his mind he's screaming a bit every time he catches a glimpse of you fidgeting and trying to muster up the will and courage to do something.

▪︎ He would also be the type to reassure you, but... would be way less subtle about it. Goes as far as to openly complain about how he's "so cold! specifically on his hand! oh if only someone would hold it-". As much as you struggle not to roll your eyes a bit in amusement, it does ease up the tension really well by bringing out the more playful side of affection.

▪︎ A thing they both have in common, neither of them really hold back. Luka can be quite clingy with both friends and his partner. He's the type of guy to get all mopey if you leave him be too long (more that 3 seconds-), but at least you'll know you're wanted as well as any affection you might be too meek to show yet.

▪︎ It would be very easy to "learn" to be more affectionate with him, since he would be the one to approach you first most of the time. His carefree and positive attitude to it all also makes it easy to let yourself be pulled along with it.

▪︎ This of course doesn't mean that he takes it for granted when you do or say something. In the same way as Argenti, Luka would struggle not to cheer and beam as you finally reach for his hand and say something cute. Difference is.. Luka's struggle was in vain, as he couldn't help but dramatically grasp his jacket over his chest, as though your gesture had landed a fatal blow to his heart.

▪︎ He would be more of a menace than Argenti, by teasing you every now and then. You said something sweet in a quiet tone? You'll have to say it louder, he couldn't hear you. You kissed him on the cheek? how about the other side? Or here, or here- he says pointing all over his grinning face.

▪︎ That's not to say he's immune to it himself mind you. Point out his kicked puppy demeanor from earlier at being ignored for over 3 minutes, and he'll suddenly stop teasing you.

▪︎ All in all, your uncertainty will quickly dissolve as you get to know him. Slowly realizing just how appreciated your attention really is.

Thing im most worried about is how i structure my texts and if its cohesive, as well as being true to the characters.
