Had a revision for repairs and testicular implants on the 5th. I stayed overnight in the hospital, which I was told was optional, but I'm glad I did since the amount of swelling made it difficult to move around. In addition to the implants I had a monsplasty, had the suspensory ligament cut, and repairs to the underside of my penis which had gotten stuck in a scrunched position. Results looked immediately much better aesthetically but extremely bruised and swollen. Bruising gradually went down and swelling went down somewhat, but my penis was still too swollen (it was essentially an orb when I went home) to move from a downward position so I can't yet pee standing. About a week and a half later I noticed that the incision where one of the implants had been inserted had popped open and the implant was visible through a small opening. I called my surgeon and he scheduled me to have the implants downsized on Monday.

Had a fistula on the weekend after a week of being able to pee just fine through my new urethra, and got a UTI-- all this is pretty common. Was on antibiotics a few times and recovered. Also had wound separation in two areas on the underside of the scrotum and perineum. Went to the ER once due to the catheter being clogged. After 2 months, the fistula healed enough to finally get the SP catheter out. Able to pee sitting fine through the urethra but not standing up easily because the underside of the penis is pinned down- this will be fixed when I have the monsplasty and implants. Surgeon thinks there's still swelling but I think maybe he's just seeing pubic fat. At 3 months, today, had the wounds cauterized with silver nitrate (didn't feel like anything) and tentatively planned to have the next surgery next month, which should be pretty quick and require little aftercare. I asked to stay overnight in the hospital, though this isn't necessary, because I thought it would be easier to stay there than to immediately go home.

had the catheter taken out today and was able to pee without it fairly easily with no apparent links and also with absolutely no control, and am gradually learning how to piss without spraying everywhere. Penis is still somewhat hidden in my scrotum which is still swollen but much less so, hopefully will get the SP catheter out next week

have a bit of wound separation under my scrotum -- this is common and not considered a big deal. I have someone from a trans home care service here today who has seen this a lot before and am lucky to have them here rather than a friend who might panic. I called the doctor and was told to put Neosporin and gauze on it. I'll see my surgeon on Tuesday.

Just met with my surgeon-- I am not getting the catheter out yet because I have too much swelling still, but otherwise everything is healing fine. He took some photos for me that I can't post here. I think my perineum is going to look very good, something nobody really shares photos of that I've seen. Seen standing from the front my genitals actually don't look that much different than before the surgery because of placement issues that should be fixed by monsplasty and testicular implants in a few months. I thought that would bother me a lot more than it does if that happened, because regardless of how they look in that position they are actually quite different from before in ways that I think I'm going to like a lot once everything starts to heal and soften.

Going home from the hospital in the morning. I haven't updated much because I haven't been doing much here, just watching TV and eating and taking pills and getting injected with heparin.

The view from the hospital window and flowers from my boyfriend (we made a vase out of an empty Clorox wipes container)
They've had me stand up for a bit once and unhooked me from the IV. Still haven't gotten a good look at my dick because of the bandages. I think it's likely I'll need a mons lift when they do the implants and I discussed that with my surgeon a bit, he said it won't be a big deal if needed. Everybody likes my tattoos, too.

While researching meta I've seen enough references to bowel prep/ not eating any solid foods the day before that I didn't realize until now that my pre -op instructions make absolutely no reference to any of this. Just not eating anything the morning of the surgery. I'll have to contact the surgeon's office about it, because I could have sworn I'd been told to only eat jello for a day.

Looks like I'll be allowed to post post-op photos on Tumblr now, though for security reasons I probably shouldn't? Idk I'll have to think about it

I got a call from my surgeon's office while I was in Trader Joe's saying I was missing a letter from my PCP, and told them I'd sent it months ago. They looked through their system by date and found it. I've been imagining this whole time that they just had a folder for me that they kept my documents in. I would hate to see what their file organization system looks like.
