The real thing with ADHD is not "I forgot", but that forgetting is this ongoing process. I remembered! And then I forgot.

At ten this (hypothetical) morning I remembered that I have a meeting at six. And then from 11 through 3 I worked on other stuff and had zero thoughts about that meeting. Maybe even thought about what I was gonna do with my evening at home. Got attached to the idea of taking the time to make a good dinner, maybe play some video games.

And then at three I said, "Oh! Fuck!" and remembered again, hopefully long enough to set an alarm. And then I went to the bathroom and remembered that I need to clean the counter and spent twenty minutes cleaning the bathroom and went to get a snack and then at five I said, "OH! FUCK!" and had to scramble to dress like a real adult and get out the door.

It isn't one clean forgetting. It's a constant process of forgetting and then, with an exhausting adrenaline spike, remembering. And then forgetting. Baby, I can forget the same thing more times in a day than you ever forgot your parents' anniversary.

Steve fell off the social ladder (and apparently hit ever rung with his face) and Eddie spends a couple weeks watching him before going up to him and offers him a seat at his table because -

“What?” Steve asks. “I’m not being bullied. Are you okay?”

“Y-yeah, you are?” Eddie blinks. He was expecting a no. Maybe a ‘get lost.’ Was even hoping a little for a yes, not - “You’re totally being bullied.”

“No, I’m not.”

“You eat lunch alone,” Eddie points out. “You - you don’t sit with your friends anymore.”

“Yeah, because I’m not on the basketball team. That’s the table for the basketball team. Why would I sit there if I’m not on the team?”

“Everybody is talking about you behind your back,” He says. Steve makes a so-so gesture. “Tyler McIntosh pushed you into the lockers yesterday.”

“Tommy has been pushing me into lockers since middle school,” Steve replies. “Next you’re going to say that Tommy is a bully.”

“He is!”

steve teaching robin his evil white boy ways is very important to me. he's boosting her up into a girl's window. she's wearing backwards baseball caps and popped collars and sunglasses inside. sitting on the roof in lawn chairs. throwing random stuff off high places.

the first time she does a keg stand, he cries.

i do think there should be more stories and shows and stuff about guys falling in love with butch women actually, i think that’d be a good thing. and not ‘this is as butch as twitter can handle’, i mean butch as can fucking be without apology, and making those boys weak in the knees about it. i think it’s great actually to have f/m romances that exist to break gender norms, too. i think it sucks that the only mainstream het romances that exist are either about women who are already feminine or with women who are just a little too scarily masculine and have to be fixed into being girlier. that’s shit.

Vimes, a day later and thirty years earlier: immediately institutes a prisoner tracking system with associated signed paperwork, assesses promotion potential for every employee, determines which underperformers get put on a PIP and which get shown the door immediately, provides one-on-one mentoring with his younger self and particularly focuses on communication coaching, slots himself into the chain of authority to protect employees and higher leadership from each other, and institutes accountability policies with documented checks

and that’s BEFORE steering the organization through an existential crisis in the following days. Yeah Manager Vimes, I see you, I see how much you ~hate this
