Everything about him pissed her off. His face, his laugh. The way he held himself, the way he spoke. All of it drove Noah up a wall. He knew this, or at least, she suspected that he knew. It almost seemed like he was doing this on purpose. It was almost as if he was mocking her. She wouldn’t put the idea past him. Joaquin was a condescending prick.

What was worse is that a small part of her liked it. She liked him enough to find him attractive, to find his teasing mildly amusing on a good day. It ate her up inside how grossly attracted to him she was. Even if it was a small, minute part of her, it was enough to turn her stomach. It made her want to hit him, to smash his head against the bar… and then press him against the wall and steal whatever breath he had left.

No one ever said it was a healthy fantasy.

She never acted on her impulses though, mostly because Ramona or Alexei seemed to hold her back, to keep her grounded in the moment. But every time Joaquin smiled, or laughed, she found herself wrinkling her nose and digging her nails into her palms until her skin had almost turned white. God how he annoyed her.

It was a bad idea to ask him to walk her home. She was drunk, and he seemed more insufferable than usual. Every quip and comment he made crawled up her spine and boiled her blood.

Until she couldn’t take it anymore.

Until she reached up and grabbed a fistful of his hair, yanking his head down to her level and shoved her mouth into his. It was rough and she found the disgusting taste of copper clear on her tongue as she sank her teeth into his bottom lip.

She let the kiss linger for a few moments, taking clear advantage how stunned he was to send a hard punch to his gut with her free hand. She pulled away as he doubled over, wiping her mouth and glaring at him.

Instinctively, Al took a step back the moment she began to draw closer. He didn’t get a real sense of hostility from her, but if he had learned one thing about the Wasteland, it was ‘don’t trust someone too quickly’.

Her offer caused his brows to knit together. “I- uhh- shit, no- fuck- I mean-…” calm down. Calm down and use your words- if she can even understand them through his horribly thick accent. “You don’t need to do that- I just need to find something to stand on…” 

He turned his entire body to look around. When there was nothing in sight, his defeated gaze settled on her again with a sheepish grin. “…Ahah. But there is nothing. I suppose I could use a bit of help, after all.”

|| She hadn’t really picked up on the accent from all the way across the street, which was surprising, considering how in your face it was. It took her back for a second and she stared at him for a few moments trying to understand what the fuck he was saying.

She got it eventually though and found a grin spreading across his face as he spoke.This poor man was locked out of his house, and very obviously distressed about it. It was not a funny situation, not at all... except that it very clearly was. At least her own accent wasn’t as thick as his.

Or at least, she hoped it wasn’t.

She cracked her knuckles and stretched before she reached down to take the dusty, worn off boots from her feet. “ I think I can give a little hand. Gimme a boost, I’ll lift that latch for ya.”

|| It was almost like watching a dumpster fire. A beautiful, hilarious dumpster fire, but a dumpster fire nonetheless.

Noah had been watching the man try to open his window for several minutes now. Most of the time, she would’ve just left. She didn’t particularly care whether or not the man actually lived in the house or not. It wasn’t any of her business, and even if it was she wouldn’t have really cared. Still, she couldn’t bring herself to look away. 

“ You uh.... you want some help there?” Noah tried her best not to laugh at the situation, even though it was.... pretty fucking funny. She made her way across the street, keeping a hand on her gun. Just to be safe. “ Maybe I could give you a boost. Or you could give me a boost. Either way, we could get that latch.”

Times like this, Al really wished that he had been built a bit taller. Standing on his tip-toes, he tried to reach up and pry open a window on the side of the building, opening into the office-space of the garage (which he had long since renovated into a home). He had gone and locked himself out of his own damn house again, which only ever got more embarrassing each time it happened.

“For fuck’s SAKE,” he groaned, turning to look for a bucket or something to stand on- anything that would make him even just a bit taller so he could reach the latch. It was then that he realized he had company. He froze up, staring directly at the stranger on the road. Oh no. “…I LIVE HERE!” He yelled, impulsively. Last thing he needed was somebody thinking he was trying to break into his own home- well, that was exactly what he was doing, actually.
